U.S. President Donald Trump gave conflicting answers about how long the war with Iran could last. Speaking at a news conference, Trump suggested the mission may be “pretty well complete,” yet earlier told lawmakers that the U.S. had not “won enough” and that some targets were being saved “for later.” Reports indicate American forces have already struck more than 5,000 targets in the campaign.

While Trump initially projected the conflict might last around four to five weeks, he later said the U.S. military has the capability to continue far longer if necessary. The mixed signals have fueled global uncertainty about Washington’s strategy as tensions escalate across the Middle East.

00:00Mr. President, you've said the war is, quote, very complete, but your defense secretary says this is just the beginning.
00:05So which is it, and how long should Americans be prepared for this war to last four?
00:08Well, I think you could say both. The beginning, it's the beginning. It's the beginning of building a new country.
00:13But they certainly, they have no Navy, they have no Air Force, they have no anti-aircraft equipment.
00:21It's all been blown up. They have no radar, they have no telecommunications, and they have no leadership.
00:27It's all gone. So, you know, you could look at that statement.
00:31We could call it a tremendous success right now as we leave here, I could call it, or we could
00:38go further, and we're going to go further.
00:43But the big risk on that war has been over for three days.
00:48We wiped them out in the first two days. When you think about it, it's incredible.
00:54We wiped out a big Navy, a very powerful Navy.
00:58You know, these were ships, these were serious ships.
01:00These were ships that you buy when you want to win battles.
01:03They're all, they're all on the bottom floor.
01:06The sailors are all running off the ships. They refuse to get on the ships.
01:11The Air Force is gone. Everything's gone.
01:13The missiles are down to a trickle.
01:14The drones are down to probably 25 percent, and they'll soon be down to nothing.
01:21We'll have the, where they manufactured, the drones are under fire.
01:25As we speak, they're being hit.
01:28So, the rest is going to be a determination as to my attitude, along with the people in the Trump
01:34administration, what we want to do.
01:51A dramatic incident in Bahrain has raised serious questions about the effectiveness
01:59of U.S. air defense systems against Iranian missile and drone attacks.
02:06During a wave of incoming threats, a U.S. deployed Patriot interceptor missile reportedly malfunctioned
02:15while attempting to intercept Iranian missiles and drones over the Gulf.
02:20Instead of engaging its target, the interceptor suddenly veered off course
02:26and crashed into a residential neighborhood in Manama, Bahrain's capital.
02:33The impact caused significant damage to homes and reportedly injured several civilians.
02:40Videos circulating online appear to show the missile flying erratically through the night sky
02:47before a bright flash and explosion erupts in a residential area.
02:54The interceptor had been launched as part of Bahrain's air defense response
02:59to a barrage of Iranian retaliatory strikes targeting U.S. and allied military positions across the region.
03:08Bahrain holds major strategic importance as it hosts the headquarters of the U.S. Navy's 5th Fleet.
03:17Iran's recent attacks have reportedly included ballistic missiles, cruise missiles,
03:24and waves of low-cost Shahed-style drones designed to overwhelm air defense systems.
03:31Military analysts say this tactic aims to exhaust expensive defensive interceptors,
03:39like the Patriot missile, which can cost millions of dollars each.
03:44By contrast, many of the drones used in these attacks are believed to cost only a fraction of that price.
03:51Reports indicate that air defense systems across several Gulf states have fired hundreds of interceptor missiles in recent days,
04:02as they attempt to defend against the barrage of Iranian retaliatory strikes.
04:08In Bahrain, the interceptor that crashed into the city has intensified concerns about the difficulty
04:15of defending against large-scale missile and drone swarms.
04:21While Patriot systems have historically maintained high interception rates,
04:27experts say even advanced air defenses can struggle when faced with saturation attacks involving multiple incoming threats at once.
04:37Iranian media outlets have highlighted the incident as evidence of vulnerabilities in U.S. defensive systems.
04:46However, the exact technical cause of the interceptor malfunction remains unclear.
04:53Officials have yet to provide a full explanation as investigations continue.
04:59As tensions across the Middle East continue to escalate,
05:04the incident underscores the growing challenge modern militaries face in defending against increasingly sophisticated drone and missile warfare.
