00:00It seems as though she was ignoring survivors this whole time, which is pretty astounding to me.
00:06So I also asked her pretty basic questions about whether she knew about any effort to look for Donald Trump's
00:12name in the files before they were released.
00:14And she says she doesn't recall.
00:16And so I think it wasn't that long ago before they were releasing the files, yet somehow she doesn't recall
00:22things that happened about six months ago.
00:24And then finally, going back to Ghislaine Maxwell, she said she wasn't involved at all in the process of moving
00:30her to another prison.
00:32But she wasn't sure if that new prison was even a lower security prison, which factually it is.
00:37She also thinks that the Bureau of Prisons is doing a great job.
00:40And she said that these things happen all the time because you want to protect some of these folks in
00:45prison.
00:46Well, that's true.
00:46But we really need to protect Ghislaine Maxwell right after she just talked to Todd Blanch about the Epstein files.
00:53It seemed too coincidental, but again, she doesn't recall a lot of other things.
00:56It was a really unimpressive, disappointing interview today, but not surprising to us.
01:03We're not going to stop our investigation.
01:05I'm going to hand it over to Yasmeen Ansari.
01:10Today's ridiculous charade has made astonishingly clear that the United States Department of Justice
01:16has been weaponized by Donald Trump to ensure that the most massive cover-up in American history is carried out.
01:25And this is being enabled by Republicans in Congress, led by Republican Chairman James Comer and Speaker of the House
01:32Mike Johnson.
01:33This entire Epstein investigation, led by Chairman Comer, has been absurd.
01:39We have two legal subpoenas against former Attorney General Pam Bondi.
01:45She is supposed to be here under oath today, on video, answering questions for the American people about her role
01:54and the direct hand that she had in this cover-up.
01:57Instead, she is deflecting, she is refusing to answer questions,
02:00and she continues to refuse to answer specific questions about the President of the United States.
02:07It is so clear that whether it be Pam Bondi, whether it be Chairman Comer, whether it be Mike Johnson,
02:14the entire party is terrified of Donald Trump and his retaliation as it pertains to the cover-up of the
02:22Epstein files.
02:23It's unacceptable.
02:24It is notable that she continues to blame Todd Blanche and Kash Patel.
02:29We, of course, want to speak to them, but I think what I want to make clear to the American
02:33public
02:34and to everybody and to the survivors especially is that we are not going to give up on this.
02:39I think Republicans believe that they just kind of carry out these nonsense transcribed interviews
02:45and don't show up here today, that we will forget about this.
02:49We are just getting started as it pertains to accountability and justice for the survivors of Jeffrey Epstein,
02:58Ghislaine Maxwell, and any other rich and powerful person in this country who perpetrated these crimes.
03:04I'm going to hand it over to Congressman Min.
03:07Thank you very much.
03:08Congressman Dave Min out of California, 47.
03:10And yes, I have an election in 40.
03:12It's a very important one.
03:13Robert Garcia and I have our primary elections on Tuesday of next week.
03:16But I'm here rather than in my district because this is important.
03:20We looked the survivors in the eye last year and made a promise to them that we would try to
03:25find justice, find transparency.
03:28Republicans also looked these women in the eye and did not follow through.
03:31It's a shame that James Comer is the only Republican here today because this is the biggest cover-up in
03:36history.
03:36This should not be a partisan issue.
03:38Now, as a former law professor, as a lawyer, I just want to note a couple things that struck out
03:43to me.
03:45One, the fact that she is appearing as a voluntary witness today, voluntary interview, is important because she's claiming that
03:51she's not complying with the subpoena.
03:53She's claiming the subpoena doesn't apply to her because she's no longer with the Department of Justice.
03:57But at the same time, as has been noted, you have two DOJ attorneys in there.
04:01If it's a personal interview voluntarily done, why is the DOJ so heavily involved?
04:06It doesn't make any sense unless you think about it as a cover-up.
04:09The second point I want to make, we got a pretty important insight today into the flimsy basis on which
04:14they're not turning over 3 million documents right now.
04:18They claimed earlier, that Tan Bondi claimed, that documents that were related to any decisions to prosecute or not prosecute
04:26were being withheld.
04:27That is all the witness interviews.
04:28It's all the evidence gathered by the FBI.
04:30There's a reason we don't have the smoking guns.
04:32We don't have the video evidence.
04:33We don't have the witness interviews because they're claiming that's all privileged.
04:36And that is a bunch of bullshit, pardon my language.
04:39Any lawyer will tell you that our subpoena, whether it's the Oversight Subpoena or the Epstein Files Transparency Act, specifically
04:45applies to these types of documents.
04:47We don't have the real information here because they're claiming it's all privileged.
04:51And that is something that we need to get to the bottom of.
04:54This, I think, actually exposed a lot of what they're doing right now.
04:57We need those documents.
04:58This should give us the basis to overturn them.
05:00And I'll just echo what everyone else is saying in there.
05:02It's a sham in there.
05:03They are not answering any questions.
05:04And with that, I want to turn it over to my friend James Lockenshaw from Virginia.
05:09There's a terrible and tragic irony at play this week because behind these closed doors, the Department of Justice is
05:17continuing to cover up and stonewall the courageous Epstein survivors like Liz here.
05:25At the same time, the same Department of Justice led by Harmeet Dillon and others, Todd Blanche, has launched an
05:33investigation into E. Jean Carroll and those who supported her successful legal effort that found Donald Trump liable of sexual
05:41assault.
05:42So the message to survivors of sexual assault from this administration and this Department of Justice, sadly, is quite clear
05:52this week.
05:53I want to share one piece of information, one question that the former Attorney General did answer.
06:00She was asked specifically about Donald Trump's awareness of Epstein's crimes before they became public knowledge.
06:11She had the opportunity to say Donald Trump certainly wasn't aware of those crimes.
06:17She had the opportunity to say, I know Donald Trump, and if he was aware of those crimes, he would
06:22have done something.
06:24Instead, she said, I don't know.
06:27She also said, quote, this is a direct quote, I'm not certain of the extent of his knowledge.
06:34I think that's a perfect example as to why we need Pam Bondi under oath in a real deposition for
06:44the camera so the American people can see and hear her answers to our questions for themselves.
06:50I'll turn it over to the ranking member.
06:52A couple of questions that we're going to go.
06:54It's continuing, so we've got to keep going.
06:55So a couple of questions.
06:56I'm thinking, Mr. Dicking Member, so was your next step to try to subpoena Todd Blanche to compel his testimony,
07:02and if so, do you have the votes?
07:04Well, the request is going in today to Chairman Comer to have Todd Blanche come in.
07:09It's clear that after this testimony, that is where a lot of the information is.
07:12And so if he doesn't do it, we're going to force a subpoena and try to get votes, but he's
07:16got to come in.
07:17Cash Patel's name was also mentioned.
07:18Will there be a subpoena for him as well?
07:20Cash Patel is number two on the list.
07:22So Cash Patel was multiple times, and we had questions about the FBI, the way the files were redacted, why
07:27redactions were done so messy, and why there was doxing that happened in certain cases of survivors.
07:32The finger was pointed back at Cash Patel, and so we have a question for Cash Patel as well.
07:36Can you characterize it a little bit more of the Justice Department's intervention?
07:39Did A.J. Billen took the lead on that, and how many times did he interrogate it, and can you
07:43speak more of it to you?
07:44Well, first let's be really clear.
07:46It's bizarre that the DOJ is also, someone from the DOJ, a high-ranking official, is also acting now as
07:53personal counsel to Ms. Bondi.
07:56And so the fact that the DOJ is essentially stopping Ms. Bondi from answering questions and interjecting, particularly around President
08:03Trump, is incredibly concerning.
08:06And the fact that it's being allowed by Chairman Comer is also as concerning.
08:10She stopped Ms. Bondi multiple times from answering questions and interjected multiple times, especially as related to President Trump.
08:18One last question.
08:18What is Oversight Dems' next step to compel more of these law-direction-wise?
08:24Look, I think there are still half, 50% of the documents have not been released to the public or
08:29the Congress.
08:30If we're going to continue to get those, that's breaking the law, the Transparency Act, and the subpoena.
08:34And of course, we have additional subpoena ideas on the way.
08:36We've got to go back in, guys.
08:37Thank you very much.
