00:00That's Paul Feinbaum, the elder statesman. Jordan Rodgers is back this week.
00:04It's called a video game.
00:06And Roman Harper.
00:07It's the newest version of Atari.
00:10He knows a thing or two about that.
00:13He still has no idea what anybody's talking about.
00:15We're off to a great start, you guys.
00:17And there's a lot to get to today, so let's dive right into it here throughout the show.
00:21And as I mentioned, Pete Famel, our college football insider, with news in just moments.
00:25But first, Paul, let's talk about the state of Alabama, this program right now.
00:29You've heard from the fans, your callers, all week long.
00:32How would you assess it?
00:34Well, there's clearly a disconnect between people I hear from and people with whom I'm visiting with here.
00:39The folks here are holding on.
00:40They feel confident that they can pull this thing around.
00:43Georgia, how do you make sense of all that at this point in the year?
00:46Receiver C.J. Daniels is a game-time decision.
00:49He'll warm up.
00:50He'll attempt to play.
00:51Chris Hilton Jr., though, playing for the first time in 2024.
00:54How does that matter for them?
00:56Their offense has been really good so far, Jordan.
00:58Yeah, I think it matters.
00:59But I think what's more important is that they have balance, right?
01:01So it's great when you get your pass catchers back.
01:03And Chris Hilton's going to add an element that Kyron...
01:06They've got to re-change everything.
01:07No, this offense is actually a lot closer than I think the way most people are talking about it.
01:12They're very...
01:13Now, can you focus on the little things?
01:15If they do that, this team can beat anybody.
01:18Yeah, even talking to Nick Sheridan yesterday in our coaches' meetings for the game,
01:22he mentioned, like, Milrow wasn't super sharp in some of the run game as well.
01:26The checks, the reads weren't quite up to what they expected.
01:29So you're right.
01:29Three losses, they're out.
01:30So in October, we have a college football playoff eliminator game.
01:33And to your point, we're going to learn a lot about Kaelin DeBoer and this team
01:36when their backs up against the wall.
01:38No doubt.
01:38When you think about Jalen Milrow today, and I think it's interesting when it comes down
01:42to the QB run and maybe some differences we'll have there, but I'm curious what you guys
01:45think about this.
01:45So Milrow's averaging 246 pass yards per game this season, over under 250 pass yards
01:52today against this Missouri team.
01:55I went over last week and it didn't go well.
01:58So I'm going under for the win.
02:00Spoken like a true fan.
02:01Tim, what do you think?
02:03250 pass yards over under.
02:06I'm going to go slightly over.
02:08Not by much.
02:09I'm going over.
02:10I think this is a game they get the explosive plays back.
02:12They're healthy at wide receiver Missouri's had a tendency to give up some of those big
02:17plays.
02:18So I think there's going to be a few shots for Milrow downfield.
02:21It's early in the morning, but I'm drunk with Bama.
02:24I'm going over.
02:26You know what?
02:26You didn't have to tell us.
02:27We could already tell.
02:28All right.
02:29Let's talk.
02:29He was just saying that they play really hard and they've been close over these last
02:33few weeks.
02:34You got to start fast against them, especially when you watch the tape from the last few
02:37weeks versus the way they played against Arizona State to start the season.
02:41That's not the same team.
02:43It's not the same effort.
02:44It's not the same offense.
02:45It's not the same physicality.
02:46This is a team that is getting so much better every week.
02:49Go ask Georgia.
02:50Go ask Texas A&M.
02:51Both of those games were crazy close and insane.
02:54If the ball doesn't bounce that way for a few of those plays, that game is a one score
03:00game at the very end.
03:01This is a team that is improving so much every single week.
03:04And you can see now their offense has a little bit of life.
03:07It doesn't matter who lines up against us.
03:09We're going to score against us.
03:10And so Jeff's finally kind of putting his stamp on the offense, which is crazy because
03:14when Blake Chapin went down, the college football playoff implications, Alabama season, all
03:18of the drama leading into today, I'm sure you'll be ratcheting that up out there on the field.
03:23And I think there's something this week that's been a little bit off kilter with the media
03:29coverage.
03:29Yeah, like the crazy reactions and Paul stirs this pot.
03:34But this week and there's three things that stand out to me that I read this week or heard
03:39this week on podcast.
03:40But number one, they have these signs at the Alabama facility.
03:43It says TNT takes no talent, right?
03:47Heart rate and have a peaceful Saturday morning.
03:49And then I sit next to you and things just go haywire.
03:51But number one, Lauren, you've seen this for years down here, is how people overreact to
03:56any little thing and read into it.
03:58So this week, the hate coach call-in show with Coach DeBoer.
04:02And just because of the formatting and the host asking five or six questions, and they
04:06had to celebrate his birthday.
04:07So you've got to bring birthday cake out, right?
04:09He only fielded one call-in question.
04:12And everybody reacts as if they're hiding something or it's propaganda or they're being defensive.
04:17They want to avoid the tough questions.
04:20Come on, really?
04:22Only in Bama would this happen.
04:23Well, it's true.
04:24And listen, I mean, the reality is this is one of the proudest and best fan bases in all
04:29of college sports.
04:30So there's no doubt about that.
04:31The Crimson Tide fans expect greatness, but so does Kalen DeBoer.
04:35I think that's important to point out.
04:36This is not some thing, Paul, where they're feeling like, oh, you know, yeah, we felt like
04:40we could lose a couple games and be just fine.
04:43They know their backs are up against the wall.
04:45But that's not necessarily the best way for these players to be playing.
04:49There's a balance there.
04:50How do you play free enough?
04:52How do you have the scheme in the absolute correct way, the attention to detail, but also
04:56make sure that they're not overlooking the opponents?
04:59And the good thing is, in talking to...
