00:00Inside Lucas Oil Stadium, the Combine, always a treat to be here for NFL Live.
00:04We're so glad that you're with us.
00:05Louis Riddick, Mina Kimes, Peter Schrager, Field Yates joins us in just a little bit.
00:09And, of course, Adam Schefter.
00:10And you guys, as you might imagine, it happens every time this time of year.
00:13We've got a lot of breaking news.
00:15So that is where we're defense from a 4-3 to a 3-4.
00:18He's a big 335-pound run stuffer.
00:21Plop him in the middle.
00:21He's a much cheaper player than Jermaine Johnson, who's not in the final year of his free agent deal.
00:25Yeah, I mean, Mina, you even brought this up this week on your podcast.
00:28That's just how interesting that number four pick is for the Titans.
00:31We'll dive into that a whole lot more.
00:33But what's going on behind him?
00:36I mean, honest assessment and accurate assessment, right?
00:38I mean, this guy is an unbelievable talent.
00:40What do you make, Mina, of Arvel Rees saying he wants to play?
00:43He knows exactly where he's at.
00:45He saw what Abdul Carter did just last year when he told Penn State,
00:48I'm not playing off-ball anymore.
00:50You're putting me down so I can go ahead and make the money.
00:52That's where it's at, and that's where his skills ultimately are best suited for.
00:55This is a cool part of this draft because we know Mendoza's most likely going number one.
01:00But number two, three, four, it's wide open right now.
01:02And that's why.
01:03Argument for Caleb Downs at the number two spot.
01:05Might be the best player in this draft.
01:06I just saw Matt Patricia, by the way, the defensive coordinator now for Ohio State.
01:09I'm like, dude, you got any good players on that defense or what?
01:12He couldn't stay away from Indy?
01:13He, like, had to be here?
01:14Good point.
01:16We've got more coming your way.
01:17Just kidding, Field Yates here.
01:18I mean, we're not talking about T-Rex arms, okay?
01:20But, like, this was a thing people were curious about this week.
01:24So, how much do you think field scouts will take note of this, specifically about Reuben
01:28Bain?
01:28By the way, those are the ACC and SEC Defensive Player of the Year these past years.
01:32If he were to drop to, you mentioned Bengals at 10?
01:36Yeah.
01:36Oh, my God.
01:37Run that in.
01:37Hope they learn their lesson after drafting the all-traits guy last year.
01:40That's a great point.
01:41Maybe get back to the meat-potatoes approach.
01:44And you get back to somebody whose heart and soul is this.
01:47I mean, Reuben Bain is the ultimate leader.
01:49I know we throw that stuff around, but this guy was a key reason why Miami even made it
01:53as far as they did into the college football playoff.
01:56And what they were able to do had a ton to do with Reuben Bain, who was a heartbeat of
01:59that team.
02:00We only have the two names there in the draft that are really the cream of the crop at
02:04the top.
02:04And we talked about Ty Simpson.
02:06You know, we sort of all know what's going to happen with Fernando Mendoza.
02:08So, let's zero in on Ty Simpson a little bit, Peter.
02:10He's going to be throwing on this field behind us on Saturday.
02:12What's been the buzz in Indy this week?
02:14He's got a real opportunity to solidify himself.
02:16I would love to hear him walk me through, okay, you know, how are you getting better?
02:19How do you see yourself developing and improving upon that?
02:22Particularly the play under pressure, because that's probably what concerns me the most.
02:24You mentioned that Oklahoma game.
02:26I was on the sideline for that game, and it was just so interesting, because it almost
02:29felt like he was shell-shocked early, which makes sense.
02:31That Oklahoma defense is unbelievable.
02:33And it's almost like for him at times last year, he would get those shell-shocked, get
02:37like hit in the face almost, just whether for real or not.
02:41Four inches more than yours was at the combine.
02:44I didn't bring that up.
02:45That was our research department.
02:46You know what?
02:46I hate the research department.
02:48I really do.
02:49But you know what?
02:49Look, these guys.
02:50That's right.
02:51Notably, Lewis is also the only one on this panel to participate in the combine.
02:54So even if your measurements aren't quite to the level of Grayson Hulton, you still
02:57have that on us forever.
02:59Like, our measurements would be much worse than yours.
03:01I don't know.
03:01Maybe, Shefty.
03:02I've seen you run the 40.
03:04I know that Laura would rather talk about men running the 40 than that.
03:08I would.
03:08There we go.
03:09That's all I know.
03:09Well, the big men, especially.
03:11And so today is my day, because they're doing it out there.
03:13Tomorrow's going to be a little different.
03:15Listen, I love all the different opportunities for these guys, but tight ends are on the
03:19field tomorrow.
03:19So today, it's D-line and linebacker.
03:21Tomorrow, we're going to see the tight end group putting up some work.
03:24New on NFL Live, tight end.
03:25Back to me.
03:26I mean, Phil, do you talk about a physical freak?
03:29Yeah.
03:29Kenyon Sadiq is that.
03:31What's impressed you most about watching his film?
03:33Well, two things.
03:33First of all, the selflessness.
03:34Back in 2024, he played behind Terrence Bergens, and he went second in the second
03:38before the next group of tight ends.
03:39So certainly look to see where he ends up going for a lot of people.
03:42All right.
03:42We'll see the tight ends on the field tomorrow again, but new on NFL Live, let's dive into
03:46the Cowboys.
03:47All right, Adam, what are you hearing about George Pickens' future in Dallas?
03:50Well, this is not going to be a simple situation to solve.
03:53Fully expect George Pickens.
03:55And a Cowboys jersey, that sounds really good to Cowboys fans, probably Jerry Jones.
03:59All right, from Dallas to Philly, Adam, what do we know about the future of A.J. Brown
04:02with the Eagles?
04:03The Philadelphia Eagles have said that they hope not to trade line as well.
04:08Yeah, it's a good point.
04:08As you guys have said so many times, this is an incredibly deep wide receiver class,
04:12so there is an opportunity if they're trying to get receiver to get them later on in this.
04:16Talk about Sonny Stiles.
04:17Why will teams talk themselves into picking Stiles?
04:21And it may not have to be that much convincing, right?
04:23Yeah, so Sonny Stiles had this remarkable come-up.
04:25Fundamentally sound tacklers I've watched in years.
04:28And you alluded to his physique.
04:30I think he came in with an 80-inch-plus wingspan.
04:33Sonny's a really interesting guy because, too, I think one of the other pieces of the puzzle
04:36here is that this past year, they played him as a linebacker.
04:39He was a stand-up inside linebacker.
04:40Two seasons ago, he was bliped up dead.
04:43Jerome McCoy, heck of a player.
04:44And that started with that pick.
04:46Just amazing.
04:47They're still, like, paying it off 14 years later.
04:49So I hope for Jerome McCoy, his draft stock, I hope he does have a full participation
04:54at his Pro Day workout because I think the ceiling, as I said earlier,
04:57is as high as pick five overall.
04:59But what an interesting prospect he is given the fact that we haven't seen him
05:01on a football field since December of 2024.
05:04Wow.
05:04Yeah, the endorsement from the homes doesn't hurt.
05:07We'll see you again tomorrow right here from India.
