00:00I have been the guy that says, where we are, I'm not going to overreact to individual games.
00:05I know you wanted the Cavs to show up against Boston.
00:08You felt like this was a bigger game.
00:10What is your reaction to the Cavs losing to the Celtics yesterday?
00:13I felt like it was the type of game, again, when you shoot that poorly in the second quarter,
00:17I don't know how much I really can take away from it from that perspective.
00:20But yeah, I'd be lying if I didn't say the reason why I highlighted the Celtics
00:24as the one team out of the East that scares me is what would happen if Tatum came back
00:28and looked as good as he did and has since returning.
00:30And that looked seamless in a way.
00:33So it's not that I'm calling off or raising all sorts of sirens and alarms,
00:38but it solidifies what I believed before, or really last week when we were talking about it.
00:44I believe the Celtics are still, they deserve that respect.
00:47They are that good of a team.
00:48I don't believe in the Pistons.
00:50I don't believe in the Knicks.
00:51If you said the Cavs are the second best team in the East, I would definitely buy into that.
00:54So my thing with the Boston thing is, guys, they're in the Tatum honeymoon.
00:59Like, right now, they're very clearly, it's been like an emotional lift for them to have Tatum back.
01:06I guess we'll see.
01:08Like, I'm not saying that it will happen,
01:11but Brown and Tatum have jostled for position as the face of the Celtics
01:15for as long as they've been together.
01:17And I still want to see, all right, Jalen Brown is enjoying the good vibes right now.
01:24Let's see if that changes.
01:25I mean, I hope you're right.
01:26I really do.
01:28It's just, defensively, he looked really good.
01:30And offensively, he was able to, obviously, he's still Tatum.
01:32That is what it is.
01:33His jump shot hasn't gotten back 100%.
01:35That's usually the last thing to come back in these type of instances.
01:38But I think a lot of people have kind of been surprised at how good he looked this early and
01:44this quick.
01:46I know you're not buying it.
01:47I get it.
01:48I understand it.
01:49I understand where the hesitation might come from.
01:51I think I'm not buying the even keel thing from you.
01:53But it's just, what do you mean the even keel thing?
01:55You're the guy of this is supposed to be a big game, and you're just kind of, eh.
01:59They just had a bad shooting day.
02:01I mean, this should be a game that you should panic over because, you know, this is supposed to be
02:06the game.
02:07This is one of five games we could actually judge them off in the second half, and they look pretty
02:11putrid.
02:12No, I mean, the Celtics were the one team that I was scared of.
02:14I mentioned that last week.
02:15When I went through the whole rant about how the East sucks, what did I say?
02:18I had to stop short in talking about the Celtics because I said, you know, a Celtics team, I think
02:22I said, wildly respect.
02:23In the heat of me trashing every East team, I had to stop short and be like a Celtics team
02:28I wildly respect
02:29because I think a lot of people just took it for granted that he would come back.
02:31Tatum would come back.
02:32It wouldn't mix.
02:33It wouldn't mesh.
02:34And it was going to be just too short of time for him to come back from this thing.
02:38But nine months later, I mean, he looked about as good as he possibly can.
02:41So if the Celtics had that same shooting day and you had won, you would just kind of be poo
02:45-pooing the win?
02:46Not poo-pooing the win.
02:47No, I think it matters.
02:48That's why I think the Celtics winning does matter.
02:50But can I make some big grandiose statement off of it?
02:52I don't know what else you want from me outside of the idea that I think the Celtics are one
02:56of the best teams,
02:56if not the best team in the East.
02:58But I thought that a week ago, too.
02:59Yeah, I just think, I don't know.
03:00I think this is the opposite side.
03:03Like, I'm being consistent.
03:04I'm not going to freak out about Boston because I wasn't going to freak out about a Pistons win
03:08or a near loss to the Pistons either, or a near win of the Pistons the week before.
03:13Like, the Cavs have a chance to answer every question about them.
03:17And I don't think we're any closer to finding out who the Cavs are as currently constructed right now than
03:23we were 10 games ago.
03:25I don't.
03:26I think the reality is, as soon as the health thing became a bigger issue, well, okay, just figure that
03:32out,
03:33and then you're probably going to have to figure this out on the fly.
03:35And I think that's where we are.
03:37Like, I think Donovan...
03:38But I think we're answering questions along the way, though.
03:40Like, with the Pistons, for instance, Pistons are on a four-game losing streak to some pretty bad teams,
03:44and I'm watching this team crumble.
03:46Like, there's certain parts of the East...
03:48Yeah, the Cavs didn't do that.
03:49They played a bunch of really good teams in a row.
03:51I think that did it.
03:52No, no, no.
03:52What I'm saying, like, there's things we can find out.
03:55I'm finding out right now, and really for the past couple weeks,
03:58that the Pistons aren't nearly the team that everyone thought they were.
04:00They're still the one seed.
04:02We'll keep an eye on whether or not they maintain their one seed status.
04:05But there's things to watch on all throughout this stretch.
04:07Tatum coming back and looking as good as he did early on
04:09is an indicator that Boston is and should be as respected as such.
04:14Yeah, or the Cavs didn't have Jared Allen.
04:16They're still not healthy.
04:18To me, it's like judging the Celtics at 100% versus the Cavs at, like, 75%.
04:23No part of me has discounted the Cavs in any bit of this conversation, though.
04:26Like, it's like, if I believed last week the Celtics were one of the best teams in the East,
04:30and I think the Cavs are right there with them, and I believe that today, nothing's changed.
04:33I just think, I think you and Ken, you guys have pounded the table.
04:38I've been hammered by you guys for wanting the Cavs to lose,
04:42and what a Debbie Downer I'm being because they just won't crown their asses.
04:45And then today, you guys get the chance to speak to, it was a big game.
04:50The Cavs performed poorly.
04:52It was a bad game without Jared Allen.
04:53You said it yourself.
04:53And I think a lot of people are choosing, I don't want to get memed on social media.
04:59How is it not wanting to get memed on social media when all I did was give Boston their flowers?
05:03No, no, no.
05:04I spent five minutes giving them their flowers and talking about how good they were.
05:06Because you built this up to being a big game, and then you're like,
05:08ah, just bad shooting night, and Boston's really good at basketball.
05:11You're doing a lot of liberty with building this up to be a big game
05:14because how much time did we spend on Friday talking about it being a big game?
05:17You didn't say this was one of the kind of goalpost games?
05:19No.
05:19You wanted to see how they were doing?
05:20Where on Friday did I say that?
05:22I'm asking you.
05:23Tell me on Friday where I said that.
05:25This game carried no weight to you.
05:26It didn't say that.
05:27I'm talking about the weight that it carried.
05:29You're just not putting enough weight to it for some reason.
05:31Like, yes, this mattered in a sense that it mattered that Tatum looked as good as he did.
05:34I don't know how much more you want from me.
05:36Boston was good last week.
05:38They obviously were good last week.
05:39They were the two seed with Brown and no Tatum.
05:42Tatum comes back, and it looks seamless.
05:44That's something to be worried about.
05:46It doesn't mean that the Cavs are all of a sudden shipping at home, though.
05:49Okay.
05:50All right.
05:51I just think in many ways it discredits any sort of chance of the idea that you could
05:55just walk through the East, and I think that's a conversation we've been having.
05:58No, it doesn't.
05:59It's one game, and you're not fully healthy.
06:01No, no, no.
06:01In the big picture of things, Tatum and Brown and what Boston looks like
06:04and how they look so much better this year, absence of Porzingis and Al Horford being away
06:09and the wing depth that they have on this team is something that I think a lot of people
06:13just have to consider.
06:14And so this Boston team looks good, and the idea that he came back and it's working as
06:18seamlessly as it is, yes, it's two games, but I don't know what else to tell you.
06:22That mattered in the sense that Boston looks so good.
06:25It doesn't matter as much that you didn't have Jared Allen and the Cavs had one of the
06:29worst second quarters we've seen him play this year, though.
06:30I just think, yet again, the Cavs are in a spot where they're trying to get healthy.
06:36They're not 100% healthy.
06:38Even Donovan being on a minutes restriction.
06:40Like, I think the biggest takeaway is the Cavs clearly didn't get up for that game for
06:45whatever reason.
06:46I don't know why, but I mean, the Celtics dared them to get in a three-point shooting
06:52contest, and the Cavs acquiesced pretty much every single time.
06:56They turned it into a make-or-miss game, and they missed a lot.
06:58I've never seen them miss as many wide-open threes as they did in the second quarter.
07:03It was a miserable game by many standards, but that doesn't change for...
07:07I just think if you're going to pound your chest every time something good happens with
07:11the Cavs, I think you could do the decency of panicking a little bit if they lose like
07:16that.
07:16I don't know what part of my voice is not putting out panic.
07:21I don't know what part of this is not putting out panic for you, and I don't know why it's
07:24not seeping in, and now you're just rage-baiting me, and I'm getting pissed about you
07:28rage-baiting me.
07:29I'm not rage-baiting you.
07:30Yeah, you clearly are.
07:30I just think you guys, you and Ken and Lima, you guys hammered me for weeks, and you just
07:35vibed everybody to death.
07:37Yes, yes.
07:38Vibes are so good.
07:39And then you lose to the Celtics.
07:41And we're worried about it.
07:42You just waterboard everybody with vibes, and then...
07:45And we're worried about the Celtics.
07:47I spent five minutes telling you about how I'm worried about the Celtics, and how Tatum
07:51seamlessly fit in for these two games, and you don't want to pay attention, and now you're
07:55just speaking.
07:56And now you're just speaking.
07:57And now you're just speaking to speak.
07:58You're not even saying anything.
07:59I'm simply saying.
07:59You're just not listening to what I'm saying then.
08:01I'm listening.
08:02I just think it's...
08:03It just sounds a little...
08:04No, no, no.
08:04It just doesn't sound congruent with the good vibes when things are good.
08:09Yes, I saw what happened with Boston on Sunday, and did I panic a little bit?
08:13Oh, I respect Boston.
08:14I won't look them in the eye if we're walking down the same side of the street.
08:18They won the title two years ago, and somehow they look better today than they did two years
08:21ago, and they look better without Horford and Porzingis last year.
08:25I mean, this is a really good Boston team.
08:27They were the two-seed for a reason without Tatum, and Tatum comes back and looks really
08:31good.
08:31And I know what you're trying to do.
08:33You're just trying to get me angry.
08:34You're trying to get me angry.
08:35I just think...
08:36And it's working, and I hate you for it.
08:38Everybody said, everybody expected overreaction radio today, and then everybody who should
08:43be overreacting can't do the common courtesy of following through.
08:47No, I'm...
08:48How is it the common courtesy of following through?
08:51How many more flowers do you want me to give Boston?
08:53I guarantee you, if they had won yesterday, oh my God, you would have been obnoxious today.
08:58First off, probably, because I'm obnoxious every day.
09:00That would be no...
09:01It's not an exception, because it's a Monday, okay?
09:03I'm obnoxious every day.
09:05I would have been obnoxious.
09:06But I'm giving exactly the right sentiment towards this.
09:09The idea that Boston, I respected them last week and was scared of them last week as far
09:13as the East is concerned, and I'm just as scared today.
09:15That's the reality of it.
09:16I think Tatum and Brown worked.
09:18Where's that Cavs hubris?
09:19Where's that, like, ugh that you guys have?
09:20It's mixed in there.
09:21There's still fourth best odds on DraftKings to win the NBA title.
09:25It's not hearing it the same way.
09:25They still should make it to the Eastern Conference Finals, all things considered.
09:28I'm just hearing kind of too leveled off here.
09:30There's not a too leveled off type thing.
09:32I could use just a little bit more of that, ah, that Cavs vibes going to the opposite.
09:37Where's the pendulum swing?
09:38You're asking for 75 different things in the segment, and it's getting ridiculous.
09:42You're asking for 25 different reactions out of me, and it's driving me up the wall.
09:46I thought it was 75.
09:47I changed it.
09:48I shortened it after 75.
09:4975 might be too much.
09:50You might realistically be asking me for 25.
09:52I'm legitimately giving you what you wanted in this, and it's like, oh, no, that's not enough.
10:00I'm not hearing Cavs panic.
10:01I'm hearing a lot of professorial kind of, oh, I respect the Celtics.
10:05You're still one of the best teams in the East.
10:06The Celtics really good.
10:07What Cavs panic do you want?
10:08You're still one of the best teams in the East.
10:09I just, you guys, there's just a lot.
10:11When the Cavs, when something bad happens to the Cavs, there's a lot of, well, the Dana says, mm-mm
10:17-mm.
10:18And then the second they do something good, it's Cavs going to the finals.
10:21When have I ever said Cavs go to the finals?
10:23I don't have a, what's wrong with the good vibes express?
10:28I like the good vibes express, but like, what's the, I don't understand, what part of me has
10:31ever said Cavs in the finals?
10:33I've never once said Cavs in the finals.
10:35I'm speaking to just kind of the general bully Cavs vibes when things are good.
10:39Then stop talking to me, talk to them then.
10:41I'm talking to all of you, because you're kind of all using the same bully pulpit tactics.
10:44It was a really bad second quarter in a make-or-miss league.
10:47It was what it was.
10:47Does it scare me that Boston continues to look as good as they do in two games with Tatum?
10:52And yeah, a little bit.
10:53It does.
10:54Yeah.
10:54Does it still mean the Cavs are anything but the second best team in the East?
10:58That's where I believe they are.
10:59Can you do things and accomplish things as the second best team in the East?
11:02Yes.
11:02You can make it to the Eastern Conference Finals.
11:04You can make it to the NBA Finals.
11:05You can achieve everything you are saying you think this team can't achieve.
11:09It's still all on the table.
11:11Okay.
11:11Nothing has changed in that regard.
11:13I'm loving the passion here.
11:13Really loving it.
11:16You want to throw those papers at me, don't you?
11:18I can't throw these papers anymore, because it makes me seem like just a madman, and I hate it.
