00:00Datuk Siri Najib Razak will file an appeal against the High Court's dismissal of his
00:11judicial review in an attempt to serve the remainder of his jail term in the 42 million
00:16ringgit SRC International Sandirian Berhad case under house arrest.
00:21Shortly after Justice Alice Look delivered her decision at the Kuala Lumpur High Court
00:26on Monday, Najib's lead counsel, Tanshri Mohammad Shafi Abdullah, stood up and informed
00:32the court of the applicant's intention to appeal.
00:35Shafi told the court that they had been instructed to file an appeal.
00:39He also sought that the court expedite its written judgment, to which Justice Look replied
00:44that it would assist in the matter.
00:47Earlier, the High Court dismissed Najib's judicial review on the grounds that the addendum order
00:52did not comply with Article 42 of the Federal Constitution and consequently became invalid.
00:59The court also ruled, said the applicant was not entitled to the relief of mandamus and
01:04the judicial review was therefore dismissed.
01:08The court did not make any order as to costs.
01:14Former Prime Minister Najib is currently serving a six-year jail sentence for abuse of power,
01:19criminal breach of trust and money laundering involving 42 million ringgit,
01:24siphoned from SRC International, a former 1MDB subsidiary.
01:29He has exhausted all appeals to overturn his conviction and sentence.
01:33He had asked the court to verify whether or not an alleged addendum order
01:37supposedly issued by former young di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah and granting
01:43him house arrest is genuine.
01:45On February 2 last year, the pardons board reduced Najib's original 12-year jail term
01:50and RM210 million fine to six years imprisonment and a RM50 million fine.
