The Attorney General's Chambers did not object to Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's application for a full acquittal from 47 corruption charges involving Yayasan Akalbudi funds, the Kuala Lumpur High Court was informed on Tuesday (Feb 24).

The matter was informed by Deputy Head of Prosecution II Datuk Badius Zaman Ahmad during proceedings.

00:01The Attorney General's chambers did not object to Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Sehri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's application for a full
00:08acquittal from 47 corruption charges involving Yayasan Akalbudi funds, the Kuala Lumpur High Court was informed on Tuesday.
00:16The matter was informed by Deputy Head of Prosecution to Datuk Badiyus Zaman Ahmad during proceedings.
00:24Badiyus Zaman told Presiding Judge Justice Nurul Huda Nurayni Mohamad that the prosecution would not be filing an affidavit in
00:32reply as they have no objection.
00:34When met after the proceedings, Ahmad Zahid's lawyer Hisiam Tehpoteik said he had earlier objected to the Bar Council's opposition
00:42to Ahmad Zahid's application,
00:45which was stated in a letter sent to the court on Sunday and distributed to the parties involved in the
00:50application on Tuesday morning.
00:52This morning we objected to the presence of Malaysian Bar to say that there were no locusts to come in.
00:59The court, no locusts to come in, the court invited them on the basis of Amicus Curie to address the
01:12court.

01:15You see, basically it's based on the intimation by the public prosecutor.
01:19Person to a media statement given by them on the 6th of January 2026 to say that the matter has
01:26been NFA,
01:27which means they are not interested in the proceedings anymore.
01:31Under this circumstance, we come to court, ask the court to give an order of acquittal.
01:36All right.
01:37And the other consideration will be that this matter has been hanging over Dato's police aid for about two and
01:43a half years.
01:43So the law says, the law says under such circumstance, their right and proper order ought to be one of
01:50the acquittal.
01:51All right.
01:51On January 28th, Ahmad Zahid filed the application to be acquitted and discharged of 47 charges of criminal breach of
02:00trust, corruption and money laundering linked to Yayasan Akalbudi funds.
02:05The application was made based on the Attorney General's Chamber's media statement dated January 8th,
02:12which stated that no further action would be taken on the 47 charges involving Ahmad Zahid.
02:18On September 4th, 2023, the High Court granted Ahmad Zahid a discharge not amounting to an acquittal following the prosecution's
02:27request.
