00:00Alright, if you're just joining us, Tyler hit the breaking news sounder and it's Texans breaking news. What you got?
00:07Yeah, something we've kind of been anticipating, but it has finally happened. Big running back news in the city of
00:13Houston.
00:13The Houston Texans have officially now released running back Joe Mixon. The Mixon saga has reached its end in Houston.
00:23I guess now Nick knows where things are right now.
00:28He might still be trying to find out something about surgery or something.
00:31Joe Mixon has been released, as Tyler said. Also adding to that, Aaron Wilson's saying something we've talked about and
00:42known about, that it also saves the Texans $8 million to the salary cap.
00:48So go ahead and add that to the restructures and the new deal they were able to do with Hunter
00:53restructuring Stingley, Petrie, add this $8 million of Joe Mixon.
00:58The writing was on the wall. Clint, they weren't having David Montgomery in and Joe Mixon on this team.
01:03And they spoke, really, to be honest with you, what is it, about six, seven months they've spoken about him
01:10like they've never seen him before in their lives?
01:13Well, it's clearly not an open line of communication with a guy that you're paying a boatload of money to.
01:17And really, if he's healthy, you'd be heavily dependent on him.
01:20So, yeah, I think this has been a strange deal. I'll be honest with you, I'm surprised.
01:24Now, we'll see. We'll see, you know, what goes on.
01:28I mean, there's a couple of teams that are thought to believe immediately people start talking about who may be
01:32interested in Joe Mixon.
01:34People start acting like, well, now the running back free agent market just got a shot in the arm.
01:39Well, look, I've got to believe that if he were able to play, if it were looking like he was
01:43going to be able to play,
01:43at least to start the season, the Texans would have kept him around.
01:46Unless this was deeper than just him playing.
01:50Well, and that's where I was going with it. Like, I'll be honest with you, I'm surprised that there wasn't,
01:54there hasn't been,
01:55given how the Texans have commented on this, I'm surprised that they let it drag out and they paid him
02:01in 2025.
02:02I'm surprised that they didn't. Like, this has been a, well, we're just trying to get some information on if
02:07he had surgery or not.
02:08We're just trying to get some information on if the surgery went well or not.
02:11We're just trying to get some information on what happened and we hadn't talked to him.
02:14Like, it is the strangest deal when you're paying a guy a boatload of money and clearly something happened outside
02:20the facility.
02:21And so, I do wonder if the Texans had an out and decided not to do it just for a
02:28reputation sense.
02:28You don't want to be the team that does that to players when all they're doing is trying to work
02:32out.
02:32But, needless to say, this should surprise absolutely nobody.
02:37Now, it will surprise the hell out of me if he is ready to go opening day with somebody.
02:42And looks even remotely like himself, that's going to be a little bit painful.
02:47Yeah, that would be, we'll see.
02:49I don't know.
02:50But, who knows?
02:52Like, who knows this story?
02:56Joe can't help himself.
02:57Joe let it out.
02:58When that comes out, who knows this story?
03:00Because, as you said, like the whole Joe Mixon thing, the first year he was better than I thought he
03:08would be.
03:08When you take a look at what he had in front of him from an offensive line perspective, literally he
03:13was the only person that could run behind that offensive line with any kind of success.
03:18And he made the Pro Bowl with that offensive line.
03:21Like, not the Shadur Sanders Pro Bowl.
03:25He made it.
03:26He was one of the three running backs selected out of the AFC to make it to the Pro Bowl
03:31that year with that offensive line.
03:33And was going to be expected to be a big, big piece for your team next year.
03:38And it's not just, this ain't no just run of the mill.
03:42Like, oh boy, he got hurt and he's just, he's just hurt this.
03:46No, we never saw him.
03:47We only saw him coming up.
03:49He's got, dude.
03:50Coming up an escalator.
03:51That's right.
03:51We never saw the guy who had to be, as you said, a guy you're playing, paying good money to.
03:56Who was the second best weapon on your offense.
04:00That's just weird that we have no idea what this is about.
04:03He's the caliber player too, Ron.
04:05I talked a lot yesterday about just like that alpha and that dog and that big, that big voice that
04:10can move the needle with players.
04:11Like, he's the kind of guy that even if he's hurt and you're paying him money, like I want him
04:16on my sideline.
04:17I want CJ Stroud to see him every time he comes to the sideline.
04:20I want, I want, damn sure want Woody Marks to see him every time he comes to the sideline.
04:24And if, if they're, because of the lack of leadership on the offensive side of the football, because of the
04:29lack of vocal leaders on, on, on that side of the ball, guys that can move the needle by speaking.
04:35I mean, I mean, hell you, you look at Joe Mixon, Joe Mixon could be a really valuable asset to
04:40the team, even though he's not on the field, given that this team, there's a void of leadership on that
04:45side of the ball.
04:46And, and, and there's a void of, of like vocal leadership on that side of the ball.
04:50So it even every, around every turn with Joe Mixon, it gets more and more strange.
04:56It is.
04:56I want it.
04:57I so badly want to know what.
04:58Oh yeah.
04:59Like I said, Joe, let you know, Joe can't help himself.
05:01You think Joe will come out?
05:01Yeah, absolutely.
05:03It may take a while, but it's going to come out.
05:05I mean, Joe ain't going to sit around.
05:06If I'm Joe, you know, I mean, to be honest with you, you, you, you look selfish.
05:11Yep.
05:11You know, you, you look like, um, you know, a, a real risk for a team, like, like get, forget
05:20the fact that reports are allegedly he got injured outside the building, right?
05:24Well, hell it's not reports.
05:25We've heard Nick Casario say that right now he's downplayed it, but, but he got hurt outside the building.
05:29All right.
05:30Not in other words, not in the control of the Texans, which I believe is a violation if, if they,
05:36if they wanted to, if they wanted to push for it.
05:38But nonetheless, the, you know, not only do, does that happen, but then your organization does not have information on
05:46what's going on with you from the time you got injured to the time you had surgery, to the time
05:51you started recovering to the time you had another surgery.
05:53Like that is a huge risk.
05:56It is a huge, like he looks terrible when it comes to, Hey, where's my next stop at?
06:02And I only say that I don't think the teams really care.
06:05I think he's good enough to where he's going to overcome that.
06:07He's going to have his side of the story and he'll clean that up.
06:09He'll get, if he can play, he'll get another job.
06:11But I say that to say, I don't think Joe Mixon is going to sit around and just let the
06:16Texans look like the, look like the, the good old boys in this situation.
06:19Yeah.
06:20It seems like, I don't know, man.
06:22It seems like the Texans don't feel like this is normal.
06:30Like it doesn't seem like they have been very happy about the situation because they were weird as hell.
06:36Clint Tyler with Christian Harris, but Christian Harris made his way onto the field.
06:40We saw him.
06:42They talked about him.
06:43Like they acted like we were asking questions about somebody else on another team.
06:48When Joe Mixon came up, like it was, I mean, D'Amico would get like, that was some of the
06:54most frustrated.
06:54It seemed like we've seen D'Amico.
06:56Well, look, look, Ron, here's the deal that you can't convince me that this Joe Mixon situation is anything.
07:02There's nothing ho-hum like Nick Casario talks about it.
07:04It's not.
07:04It's strange.
07:06It's unorthodox.
07:07It's not ideal.
07:08And I'm not even talking about the injury.
07:09I'm talking about the way in which clearly he was dealing with it.
07:11There's nothing normal about this.
07:13There's nothing normal about rotating left guards.
07:16There's nothing, there's nothing normal, you know, about, about, you know, not, you know, not, not, not being able to
07:22say, hey, man, we're going to build around CJ Stroud or not.
07:25Like, this is just one thing in a laundry list of things that just, I don't believe are normal.
07:32And this one, this one takes a damn cake because it's just, it drug, it drug out for a year.
07:37That was, that was crazy.
07:39So Joe Mixon, it's official.
07:41Nobody is shocked by this when they signed Montgomery from and made that trade with, with the Lions from Montgomery.
07:47We kind of saw that was coming.
07:49And so he is, he is no longer a Texan.
07:52And then that's going to be to watch out.
07:54Is he going to play somewhere again?
07:55Like, how bad is this injury?
07:57Is he going to go somewhere?
07:57I mean, there's people out there reporting that, that there's already a couple of teams, Kansas City Chiefs being one
08:01of them.
08:01That could be interesting.
08:02Might be, might be.
08:03All right.
08:03If he's healthy, hell, it's going to be, it could be a hell of a get by somebody.
08:06Yeah.
08:06Yeah.
08:07That is.
08:07Yeah.
08:07If he's, yes, that's, well, that is, it is just such a weird situation.
08:12Like, like Tyler, are you even a hundred percent confident what he's injured, what the injury is?
08:18Oh, absolutely not.
08:18Like what, the body part, it's, it's the foot, right?
08:21Is it?
08:21That's what I thought at one point, but now I don't know.
08:24I mean.
08:24Like, isn't that crazy?
08:25Like, do you really know?
08:26I don't even know if we'd even really know exactly what it is.
08:29Well, my, my, I'll just go ahead and put it out there, be completely transparent.
08:33My injury is going to be this crick in my neck.
08:35Cause I got to turn around and look at Tyler over my shoulder.
08:37Instead of being able to just look at my man in the eye of the whole show.
08:40I got, I got, I got, I got.
08:42Perfect book ends on this hour.
08:44Yeah, man, I got that neck, man.
08:46Is it rough for you, man?
08:47I can't, I can't get all the way around there.
08:49When I need Tyler to hit that sound or I need Tyler to, to, to hit that.
08:53When I get done with that read, I can't, you know, eye contact is big.
08:57It's big for our performance together, man.
08:59And I can't do it with this.
09:00You can't turn it in.
09:01Yep.
09:01This is not to mention the, the, I'm telling you, this is a work.
09:04To fill you in guys.
09:05As soon as Clint walked in, John Lopez issued a warning that.
09:11A whisper warning.
09:12A whisper warning, so he's mouthing words to me.
09:15That mic is, that mic is, is not going to last long.
09:18And it did not.
09:1930 seconds.
09:20Max.
09:20As it crumbled in Clint's hands.
09:22And so he's had to move to the other side.
09:25And this is, this is really issuing, causing issues to his work today.
09:32And want to express that, but he's going to fight through it.
09:35He's going to play hurt.
09:35The guy who's played in the SEC with his shoulder being shot up,
09:41having to play quarterback and throw, I believe.
09:43Very similar situation here.
09:46I mean, very similar.
09:47Very similar.
09:48What I'm up against.
09:49And the other part of it is, it's kind of like I've got my two left guards
09:53that are rotating.
09:54Yeah.
09:54I mean, it's just different guy.
09:55Every time I get in there, hell, I don't know.
09:56I don't know if I got a guy that's going to sit right now.
09:59Well, juice is in there right now.
10:00Oh, hell.
10:01Yeah.
10:02It's all right.
10:02But if you had to start one right now, if you had to pick one right now
10:06to start at guard, Juice or Lakin, who are you rolling with?
10:09Juice.
10:10I think Juice got a raw deal.
10:13I think Juice got a raw deal.
