00:00Adam Schefter reporting Texans, they are not activating running back Joe Mixon by Tuesdays, 4 p.m. Eastern.
00:08That'd be 3 p.m. local time deadline, making him ineligible to play at least the first four games as in the Texans due to that ankle injury.

00:57And it's just borderline impossible.
00:59So the fact that he's missed so much tells me that he's going to need an extended amount of time,
01:05even if he is healthy in two weeks, even if he is physically able to go,
01:11he's going to need a couple of weeks just to get his wind and just figure things out.
01:15And we haven't seen him on a practice field at all.

01:32Here is what that reserve non-football injury list is.

01:54Which is different from the pub list, which is for football-related injuries that players have sustained during the team activities.
02:08It sounds like Joe Mixon hurt something beyond what went on last year during a workout session, possibly,
02:16that was outside of a Texan-sanctioned workout.
02:19But nonetheless, here is really what matters for all of us fans out here.
02:24Is players on the reserve NFI list do not count against a team's 53-man roster.
02:31But they must miss at least the first four regular season games.
02:35Now, after the initial four-game absence, they enter a three-week practice window in which they could be activated.
02:43If they're not activated in that three-week window, they have to remain on that list for the rest of the season.
02:48So, really, the key is, right, is weeks five through seven, right, is, boy, if he's not back on, if he's not ready to go by the end,
02:57he's got to be, he's got to stay out, he's going to miss the entire season.
03:01So, while I'm going to hate, I hate that the Texans are going to start without their star running back,
03:05but I've got those weeks five, six, and seven, which six is a bye week.

03:10And those three weeks right there starred because that means if he ain't back by the end, you're losing for the season.

03:33So, that is now for the first four games, and this obviously helps the case for a guy like Damian Pierce to make the roster.
03:46This helps playing time for a guy like Woody Marks, who folks like Andre Ware were really excited about
03:55after he scored his touchdown over the weekend.
03:57And this is, this however is, this is clearly a blow, but I think obviously a blow that they had been prepping
04:07and prepared for right outside of it.
04:10But right now, you, as we said last week, they appear to want to be more of a team that focuses on the run game
04:17and that they want to be more physical in the run game, and this is your top guy.
04:23And you're turning to Nick Chubb kind of coming off injury, looks a little different than he did in his prime,
04:30and then possibly Damian Pierce, who hasn't really put it together since his rookie year.
04:36Look, I hope my feels for Nick Chubb are more accurate than most people's out there.
04:41I mean, because it's, whether you anticipated the Joe Mixon, you know, injury lasting longer than expected or not,
04:48you know, you're a team that is, you absolutely 100% have to fix your pass protection,
04:55and the answer was Cam Robinson, Ed Ingram, Laken Tomlinson, and Jake Andrews, right?
05:00You're a team that is, I mean, you have, I mean, you planted the flag, we're going to run the football better.
05:05And now all of a sudden, there's no Joe Mixon, and there's a Nick Chubb that many believe is a,
05:13I mean, is a, nowhere near what he, what he once was.
05:21And so now, you've got to look up and say, okay, well, it's Damian Pierce or Woody Marks are going to be the guys,
05:28or Daria Gumbawai are going to be the guys that you established this run with out of the gate August 25th.
05:33Like, that is, that is, it's the reality of the Texans, but, boy, you want to talk about offensively,
05:40you've got a couple of issues that you've just flat out got to get right, and you've got to improve drastically,
05:45and your answers, again, are Laken Tomlinson, Jake Andrews, Ed Ingram, Cam Robinson, Woody Marks,
05:54a fourth-round running back, and a banged-up Nick Chubb.
