00:00Hey, Shabbat Shalom brothers and sisters, welcome back.
00:04Thank you again for joining me today.
00:06Well, today I want to do a book review and this is a flash from the past.
00:10I know a lot of people, the older people my age and everything would know about this.
00:15This book is called The Passion of Christ.
00:22And this was a Mel Gibson movie back in 2004.
00:29It was like one of the independent bestsellers.
00:34I think today, I think it's still the best, the top independent bestseller as far as making the money and
00:40everything.
00:41But anyways, this book here, The Passion of Christ in Scripture and History by Dr. Sam, of course, which I
00:50always talk about.
00:51I love those books.
00:52I don't agree with everything he says, but that's, you know.
00:58That's about how it is with him.
01:00But anyways, I forgot about this book.
01:03I've had this book since, I don't know, it was 2005 maybe.
01:08Because this book come out in 2004.
01:12Weird.
01:12It's weird because Mel Gibson's movie come out in 2004, February or something like that.
01:18And this come out, I mean, real quick.
01:22It's kind of talking about pros and cons, debunking certain things about the movie.
01:30Even though the movie, a lot of people loved it and people started converting to Christianity, going to church, things
01:36like that.
01:37But anyways, this book is 208 pages long.
01:41This is like footnotes right here.
01:43But it's very interesting.
01:47It's very interesting.
01:49Like I said, I got this from, actually, this is back, like I said, 2004 or 2005 when I got
01:58it.
01:59And it was from the Biblical Perspectives website, or not website, but I used to have to mail stuff in,
02:08you know, money orders, stuff like that to get these books.
02:11I got, I think I got all of his books that I know of.
02:14And I've posted a few online here, and you feel free to check them out if you're a Seventh Day
02:22Adventist, because that's what he was.
02:24He's a professor, and he was accredited.
02:27I mean, he's, he went to the Vatican.
02:30He went to Vatican to study.
02:31He was the first one in like 400 years to actually go in there as a non-Catholic and study.
02:39And he come out with his masterwork from Sabbath to Sunday.
02:44Check that book out.
02:46But anyways, yeah, he gets into a lot of stuff here about, you know, Mel Gibson.
02:55Let me, let me look at a table of contents.
03:00Let me just, here's the introduction.
03:04Objectives of the book, overview of the book, method and style, acknowledgements, and notes.
03:11All right, that's, that's that.
03:13Chapter one, the history of the passion plays, which if you know what the passion plays are, you know, like
03:21in Germany, or Germany and Europe, passion plays every year.
03:27They're portrayed, you know, the crucifixion and death and stuff like that.
03:33But there's what some people would call anti-Semitic overtures, overtures in it, whatever.
03:40Anyways, history of the passion plays, questions raised by the passion.
03:46Gibson's adheres to the traditional passion plays.
03:51The objective of this chapter, origin and development of the devotion of Christ's passion, the origin of the passion plays,
04:02which, like I said, gets to Europe, Germany, decades back, or centuries back, I mean.
04:11Christ's brutal suffering to satisfy divine justice, the prominent role of Mary, the hostility of the Jews towards Christ, and
04:22in conclusion, end notes.
04:24But, I don't want to read them all to you, but then you've got chapter two, chapter three, chapter four.
04:33But anyways, this book, yeah, get this book, because also inside it tells you what Mel Gibson's, some of his
04:45motivations and inspiration and what he took from this when making this movie.
04:53And there's a, this is a, this is a chapter three here, which is a kind of, I mean, it's
05:02self-telling.
05:03It's called, if I get this woman's name wrong, please, it's done, it's not, it's not, no attentional.
05:11I didn't mean it is an introduction into Anne Catherine Emmerich, E-M-M-E-R-I-C-H.
05:20It's just an Emmerich, you know, some people are touchy, we got the English language where, you know, you think
05:27it's something, but then somebody comes up and says something else.
05:30Like, you know, the movie Joe Dirt with David Spade.
05:35You know, you go up and say Joe Dirt, he's like, I'm not Joe Dirt, I'm Joe Dirt-ay.
05:40But same thing, English, English is the weirdest language and whatever to study.
05:46But anyways, I'll get to, I'll get to this.
05:50I'm going to read this in another video about her because Dr. Sam here, he does it eloquently.
06:00You know, he does it good.
06:02I mean, and I want to read this in another thing, so you stay tuned about that.
06:07But like I said, get this book.
06:10I know it's going to be on Amazon, eBay, other bookstores because he sold a lot of them.
06:17And even like I said, even though I don't agree with all of his stuff because he's a Seventh-day
06:22Adventist, but he's still a wise man.
06:24And he has some great points on many, many things.
06:27Like I said, I, before I got, I think I got almost all of his books.
06:32I think I do, but, and I don't agree with a lot of, but hey, you know, I made videos
06:40like book reviews with him in it and Sabbath to Sunday and a couple others.
06:48But, and I did a, I did a biography on him, so check out his biography because he is a
06:55very interesting man and he needs to be remembered for his endeavors.
07:00Anyways, that's all I got to say right now.
07:02Thank you very much for joining me.
07:04Hey, until we meet again, brothers and sisters, peace out and shalom.
