00:00Hello, very good day to you. We have a bit of a split in our weather through today.
00:04Wet towards the northwest, much drier, much brighter towards the southeast.
00:09Looking at the earlier satellite imagery, we can see the front that's bringing the cloud, the rain,
00:14across parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
00:16Meanwhile, through this morning, across much of England and Wales, we had largely clear skies.
00:22As a result, there were some mists and fog around.
00:23But with those clear skies and southerly winds, we are going to see temperatures really rising as we go through
00:31today.
00:32Those southerly winds as well, combined with Storm Regina out towards the eastern parts of Spain,
00:38they're going to help drag in some Saharan dust.
00:41So particularly as we head towards sunset later on, don't be surprised if the sky looks especially orange.
00:47But then as we've gone through this morning, yes, plenty of rain feeding its way in across much of Scotland
00:51and Northern Ireland.
00:52And through the afternoon, we're going to see that rain continuing, just edging a bit further south and eastward.
00:57So starting to clear western parts of Northern Ireland and Scotland and starting to push into some parts of western
01:03England and more so western Wales.
01:05Could be some heavier bursts of rain over western Wales as we go through towards this evening.
01:10Meanwhile, central and eastern parts of England are actually largely dry.
01:15Once any mist and fog lifts and clears away, some of it could linger into this afternoon.
01:19But it's looking largely dry, largely bright, lots of sunshine.
01:23And I mentioned those southerly winds, they're dragging in that warmer air.
01:26So temperatures really rising.
01:27We're looking at highs of around 18, perhaps 19, possibly even 20 Celsius.
01:33So for some towards the southeast, it really is going to be the warmest day for a fair while.
01:38Temperatures towards the north and west a little bit lower.
01:40And obviously under the cloud and the rain, it is going to be markedly fresher feeling as well.
01:46Some places only just about staying in the high single figures at best.
01:50Then later on, we see that front towards the northwest edging still further south and eastwards.
01:56But as it goes, it will bring some winteriness over the higher ground of Scotland, some sleet, some snow and
02:00even some winteriness likely over the highest ground of Northern England as well.
02:04The lakes, the Pennines, for example.
02:06But the rain's not looking especially heavy for most, just like I mentioned earlier, some heavy bursts of rain for
02:12western parts of Wales, particularly during the early part of the night.
02:15And then we sort of have three zones of weather, really.
02:18Where the front is lingering, it is going to be wet.
02:20It could be a bit wintry and a lot of cloud here.
02:23Some clearer skies towards the southeast.
02:25Here we could see a few pockets of mist and fog developing, perhaps not as much as we saw through
02:31this morning.
02:31But then towards the north and west, much of Scotland, Northern Ireland, clearer skies and fresher air.
02:37So pretty chilly here.
02:39Temperatures dropping a fair few degrees below freezing for quite a few spots.
02:43Could get as low as maybe minus four, minus five, maybe a little bit colder than that in some prone
02:47areas.
02:48And even towards the southeast could turn a little chilly, perhaps, where we get the clearer skies.
02:52But yeah, the cloud, the rain stopping temperatures falling too low for most places.
02:58Then through tomorrow, well, it's sort of a reversal of fortunes compared to today.
03:03Scotland, Northern Ireland, having a dry, often sunny day.
03:07Just one or two showers maybe towards the northwest.
03:10Of course, much of England and Wales, though, it's much cloudier than today.
03:13And there will be some rain at times.
03:15That front coming in from the northwest kind of fizzles and clears away.
03:17But there's more wet weather then coming in from the south.
03:19So southern areas and then into central areas.
03:22We'll see some rain arriving as we go through the afternoon.
03:25Doesn't look particularly heavy.
03:26But yeah, it's just going to be a bit damper, a bit wetter than it was today for these parts
03:31of the country.
03:32With that then, we have cooler air, fresher air coming in from most places.
03:35Still quite mild towards the southeast, albeit nowhere near as warm as it will have been today.
03:41But yeah, mid to teens possible here.
03:42Elsewhere, a bit fresher.
03:44Most places, high single figures, just about getting into double digits perhaps for a few spots.
03:51Then as we go into the weekend, well, it's looking largely cloudy.
03:55Not totally cloudy.
03:56There will be some sunshine around northern England, maybe seeing the best of the sunshine at times.
04:00And most of us will see some breaks in the cloud.
04:03But yeah, a fair amount of cloud.
04:04And with that, there will be a bit of rain.
04:06Mostly just a few spots of drizzly rain for many of us.
04:09But perhaps towards the far northwest of the UK, well, there could be some more persistent rain here.
04:13For more information about what we can expect through this weekend, well, why don't you check out our weekend forecast,
04:18which Alex Deacon will be bringing to you later.
04:20That will be available on YouTube, it will be on Instagram, it will be on Spotify as well.
04:25Lots of places.
04:26So check that out later.
04:27Bye-bye.
