There will be dry, sunny weather across the country to start the day, with high cloud and haze building throughout the afternoon. Parts of Northern Ireland and Scotland will see isolated showers. Increasingly strong winds throughout the evening and temperatures slightly above the average. - This is the Met Office UK weather forecast for the afternoon of 06/09/2025. 00:01Good afternoon and welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:04It's a tale of two halves this weekend, with Saturday faring best in terms of some dry,
00:08bright, sunny weather.
00:09But it's this area of low pressure that's going to bring some quite heavy, showery rain
00:13as we go through Sunday.
00:15With a squeeze in the isobars as well, high pressure situated out towards the east of
00:19the UK, that will bring some increasingly strong winds through Saturday evening and
00:22on Sunday.
00:23And then it's remaining quite changeable as we head into the new working week, low pressure
00:27waiting in the wings out towards the west of the UK.
00:31Back to the rest of Saturday though, and as I mentioned, the better day in terms of some
00:34dry, bright, sunny weather.
00:36Any of that sunshine there across much of England and Wales could be turning quite hazy as we
00:39head through the afternoon, some high cloud building in from the west.
00:43Parts of Northern Ireland, western parts of Scotland may see the odd isolated shower through
00:47the afternoon.
00:48Some outbreaks of showery rain are possible and it will generally be turning a little
00:51bit cloudier here as we head through Saturday afternoon.
00:55The winds will be strengthening too, particularly across the west of the country.
00:58But where you do see the sunshine, still feeling pleasantly warm, temperatures a touch above
01:02average for the time of year, 22, 23, perhaps 24 degrees across the southeast and temperatures
01:07widely into the high teens across much of the north of the country.
01:12Those winds then continue to strengthen as we head through Saturday evening, particularly
01:16across the west of the country, but almost anywhere seeing those strong winds into the early
01:20hours of Sunday morning.
01:21We could see some coastal gales building through the Irish Sea.
01:24So a really windy start to the day on Sunday morning and quite a damp start too across the
01:28western portion of the country.
01:31Some outbreaks of really quite heavy, showery rain across parts of Northern Ireland into
01:34the far southwest of England too.
01:37With those strong winds, despite any clear spells, that does mean quite a mild night to come.
01:41Widely temperatures holding into the double figures.
01:44Across southern areas, we could potentially see temperatures around 16, 17, maybe even 18 degrees.
01:49So a really quite warm and muggy start to the day on Sunday.
01:53Again, much of England fairing best in terms of some bright spells to start the day.
01:57Again, any sunshine that we do see could be quite hazy at times, but across the west we'll
02:02continue to see some outbreaks of really quite heavy, showery rain.
02:05I wouldn't rule out the odd rumble of thunder mixed in there too, and that will continue to
02:08spread its way northwards as we go towards Sunday afternoon.
02:12The southeast fairing best in terms of some dry weather, albeit quite cloudy here and a really
02:17windy day across the country, particularly across the western half of the country, but
02:21some strong winds almost anywhere.
02:23Some coastal gales continuing and perhaps feeling quite a bit warmer as well compared to what
02:27we've seen recently.
02:28Quite a bit muggier too, highs in the southeast of 25, 26, maybe even 27 degrees, so well above
02:34average for the time of year.
02:36And even in the north, those temperatures jumping into the low 20s.
02:41As we then go through Sunday evening, any of that rain continues to push its way northwards.
02:45The cloud starts to fizzle out across the southeast, so there will be some clear spells developing
02:49here.
02:50Probably the best place to see the total lunar eclipse through Sunday evening if you do get
02:53a chance.
02:54But further north, it will be a bit cloudier, so a bit more difficult to see here, but it's
02:57going to be quite a bit fresher on Sunday night, so not quite as warm and muggy to start the
03:01new working week.
