00:01Good afternoon and welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:04It's a tale of two halves this weekend, with Saturday faring best in terms of some dry,
00:08bright, sunny weather.
00:09But it's this area of low pressure that's going to bring some quite heavy, showery rain
00:13as we go through Sunday.
00:15With a squeeze in the isobars as well, high pressure situated out towards the east of
00:19the UK, that will bring some increasingly strong winds through Saturday evening and
00:22on Sunday.
00:23And then it's remaining quite changeable as we head into the new working week, low pressure
00:27waiting in the wings out towards the west of the UK.
00:31Back to the rest of Saturday though, and as I mentioned, the better day in terms of some
00:34dry, bright, sunny weather.
00:36Any of that sunshine there across much of England and Wales could be turning quite hazy as we
00:39head through the afternoon, some high cloud building in from the west.
00:43Parts of Northern Ireland, western parts of Scotland may see the odd isolated shower through
00:47the afternoon.
00:48Some outbreaks of showery rain are possible and it will generally be turning a little
00:51bit cloudier here as we head through Saturday afternoon.
00:55The winds will be strengthening too, particularly across the west of the country.
00:58But where you do see the sunshine, still feeling pleasantly warm, temperatures a touch above
01:02average for the time of year, 22, 23, perhaps 24 degrees across the southeast and temperatures
01:07widely into the high teens across much of the north of the country.
01:12Those winds then continue to strengthen as we head through Saturday evening, particularly
01:16across the west of the country, but almost anywhere seeing those strong winds into the early
01:20hours of Sunday morning.
01:21We could see some coastal gales building through the Irish Sea.
01:24So a really windy start to the day on Sunday morning and quite a damp start too across the
01:28western portion of the country.
01:31Some outbreaks of really quite heavy, showery rain across parts of Northern Ireland into
01:34the far southwest of England too.
01:37With those strong winds, despite any clear spells, that does mean quite a mild night to come.
01:41Widely temperatures holding into the double figures.
01:44Across southern areas, we could potentially see temperatures around 16, 17, maybe even 18 degrees.
01:49So a really quite warm and muggy start to the day on Sunday.
01:53Again, much of England fairing best in terms of some bright spells to start the day.
01:57Again, any sunshine that we do see could be quite hazy at times, but across the west we'll
02:02continue to see some outbreaks of really quite heavy, showery rain.
02:05I wouldn't rule out the odd rumble of thunder mixed in there too, and that will continue to
02:08spread its way northwards as we go towards Sunday afternoon.
02:12The southeast fairing best in terms of some dry weather, albeit quite cloudy here and a really
02:17windy day across the country, particularly across the western half of the country, but
02:21some strong winds almost anywhere.
02:23Some coastal gales continuing and perhaps feeling quite a bit warmer as well compared to what
02:27we've seen recently.
02:28Quite a bit muggier too, highs in the southeast of 25, 26, maybe even 27 degrees, so well above
02:34average for the time of year.
02:36And even in the north, those temperatures jumping into the low 20s.
02:41As we then go through Sunday evening, any of that rain continues to push its way northwards.
02:45The cloud starts to fizzle out across the southeast, so there will be some clear spells developing
02:49here.
02:50Probably the best place to see the total lunar eclipse through Sunday evening if you do get
02:53a chance.
02:54But further north, it will be a bit cloudier, so a bit more difficult to see here, but it's
02:57going to be quite a bit fresher on Sunday night, so not quite as warm and muggy to start the
03:01new working week.
03:03Quite a changeable picture though as we head in towards next week, but you can find out more
03:06about that by hitting subscribe to our YouTube channel so you never miss a weather update.
03:10Bye for now.
