Transcript
00:00And we cut across to breaking news just coming in.
00:03Nitish Kumar has filed his nomination.
00:05In fact, Amit Shah will be reaching the state guesthouse for a meeting.
00:08But the latest coming in of how Nitish Kumar has filed his nomination for Rajasabha
00:13and arrived at the state guesthouse from the Legislative Assembly with Amit Shah.
00:19You're also learning of how Nitin Ameen has filed his nomination for the Rajasabha.
00:24Other NDB candidates who are also filing their nominations.
00:27Amit Shah will leave the Legislative Assembly and proceed to the state guesthouse.
00:32And the meeting will take place there.
00:35Let me take this to my colleague Rohit joining us on the broadcast with all the latest coming in
00:39of how Nitish Kumar has now filed for his nomination.
00:53Alright, not too sure if Rohit can hear me at this point.
00:56We'll try and take this back to him to get a first-hand view of what really is the action
01:02that is unfolding on the grounds in Patna.
01:05But there you see those pictures.
01:07Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who is already in Patna.
01:10In fact, Nitish Kumar, you're learning that he's filed his nomination for Rajasabha.
01:15And he arrived at the state guesthouse from the Legislative Assembly with Amit Shah.
01:20So far, it is clear that it is a mutual decision as far as Nitish Kumar giving up as Chief
01:27Minister of Bihar
01:28and wanting to pivot in his political career is concerned.
01:33Then, of course, to who will be the next Chief Minister of Bihar?
01:37Top contenders and several frontrunners' names that aren't doing the rounds.
01:41However, back-to-back developments are on the ground in Patna.
01:45Nitish Kumar has filed his nomination.
01:48And those are the pictures on the left of your screens.
01:52Important moment there.
01:53Nitish Kumar has filed his nomination for Rajasabha.
01:57This in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
02:01It is clear now, Nitish Kumar is stepping down as far as being the Chief Minister of Bihar is concerned.
02:07And he's filed his nomination for Rajasabha.
02:10While this marks a very important turn in his political career.
02:15Let me also take this to my colleague Rohit, who continues to stay with us on the broadcast.
02:20Rohit, quickly from you, what's happening?
02:25Well, see, Nitish Kumar, along with four other NDA leaders, have filed their Rajasabha nomination a short while back.
02:33And the pictures have also come where we see that Amit Shah is also sitting in that chamber
02:38where Nitish Kumar is filing his nomination at the Bihar Vidhan Sabha.
02:42And shortly after all the five NDA candidates filed their nomination,
02:47Amit Shah, along with all the BJP leaders and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar,
02:51they have now arrived at the state guest house, which is just behind me,
02:56about 100 meters from where I am right now.
02:58And now they are in a huddle.
03:00There's a meeting, informal meeting that is taking place,
03:03where Amit Shah is there, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is there,
03:06Samrat Chaudhary and all those NDA candidates who have filed their nomination.
03:10Nitin Nabeen, the BJP national president, he has also filed his nomination for Rajasabha today.
03:15So all these top leaders, Sanjay Jha, Laland Singh from the JDU,
03:19they are all having a closed-door meeting at the state guest house.
03:24And possibly what we are learning is that what will be the formation of the new government,
03:31how the new government will be formed, when will the new government will be formed.
03:35All these things are being discussed right now because after Nitish Kumar filing his nomination
03:40officially for the Rajasabha, it is clear that the Nitish Kumar era in Bihar is over.
03:48It's just a matter of time, maybe a day or two,
03:53that Nitish Kumar will tender his resignation after meeting the governor.
03:57And then all the exercise will begin for the formation of the new government in Bihar
04:03and in all probability, the first BJP chief minister in the state.
04:10So who will be the deputy chief minister in that new government?
04:13All these things are possibly being discussed at that meeting,
04:17which is going on at the state guest house right now.
04:21Back to you.
04:21Rajat, continue talking to us.
04:23This is extremely crucial and lots that will happen now in this meeting
04:27that is already taking place.
04:29Now, sources telling India today that there is a very likely chance
04:33that Nitish Kumar's son, Nishant Kumar,
04:35will be made the deputy chief minister of Bihar
04:38and BJP to get the CM chair to make a CM face.
04:44And that is the decision that the BJP will take.
04:47What more are you picking on that?
04:52Well, see, in the last 21 years or so,
04:56Nitish Kumar has been at the helm of affairs in Bihar.
04:59Whichever side he switches to RJD, BJP, whichever side he goes,
05:02but he continues to remain the chief minister of Bihar.
05:06But perhaps after almost 21 years,
05:09this is the first time that the Saffron party, the BJP,
05:12will be having its own candidate as the chief minister.
05:16Because remember, for the last few years,
05:18there has been talks going on.
05:21BJP, somewhere down the line,
05:23trying that Nitish Kumar should step down
05:26or BJP person should become the chief minister.
05:29But they have failed miserably in all those attempts.
05:32Because if you see literally with Swesha,
05:35there has been no option, no replacement of Nitish Kumar,
05:39a leader like Nitish Kumar,
05:41a leader having such a tall stature like Nitish Kumar.
05:46Nobody can replace Nitish Kumar as far as the BJP is concerned.
05:49Because the kind of work he has done in Bihar in the last 21 years or so,
05:54ever since he came to power in 2005,
05:57the kind of development that has taken place,
05:59nobody can deny that.
06:01So filling in the shoes of Nitish Kumar will be very, very critical.
06:04So now the BJP is mulling few names
06:08who could possibly become the chief minister,
06:10the first chief minister of Bihar from the BJP.
06:14So Samrat Chaudhary,
06:15who is the deputy chief minister at the present,
06:19also holding the home department,
06:20considered close to Nitish Kumar,
06:22he is being seen as a front runner
06:24to become the chief minister of the state.
06:27However, if not Samrat Chaudhary,
06:30then there are two or three more names that are doing the round.
06:33The second name that is doing the round is Nityanand Rai,
06:35who is MOS in the home ministry,
06:39working under Amit Shah at the centre.
06:41And he comes from the Yadav community,
06:43a community which has been the core word bank of Lalu and Tejasvi, the RJD.
06:47So perhaps if he is projected as the CM,
06:50then the BJP can send a strong message in the Yadav community also,
06:54before the 2029 Lok Sabha elections,
06:57and probably they can dent into the Yadav World Bank also.
07:00And if not, Tejasvi Rai,
07:02two more names are doing the rounds.
07:03One is Dilip Jaiswal,
07:05who comes from the EBC community,
07:07also a minister in the Nitish Kumar government at right now,
07:09and Sanjeev Chaurasiya,
07:11a five-time MLA from Digha Assembly constituency in Patna.
07:15So there are three or four names,
07:17probable names that are doing the round.
07:19However, Samrat Chaudhary continues to remain the front runner for the CM post.
07:24And then it comes to the deputy chief ministers,
07:27who will be the deputy chief minister of the new government.
07:30So Nishant Kumar, in all likelihood,
07:34will be taking,
07:35in fact, we can see that he will be taking over as the deputy chief minister,
07:39one of the deputy chief minister.
07:40And the second name that is doing the round is of Vijay Chaudhary,
07:44a trusted lieutenant of Nitish Kumar for the last several years.
07:48He comes from the upper caste.
07:50So it will be a combination of an upper caste and an OBC,
07:53which Nishant Kumar is.
07:55So it's all going to happen in the,
07:57I think, in the next 48 to 72 hours,
08:00because once Nitish Kumar has filed his nomination for Raj Sabha,
08:05there is no point in waiting.
08:07The BJP will think that there is no point in delaying the entire exercise from here on.
08:12And that is why we are expecting that Nitish Kumar very soon,
08:16maybe tonight or tomorrow,
08:17will be tending his resignation.
08:19And before the parliament session resumes on 9th of March,
08:22the new government will be formed in the state.
08:26Because, as I told you,
08:28Nitish Kumar's nomination is complete.
08:30So the BJP will not try to delay
08:34or hold back anything from here on
08:36and would be trying to
08:38fast-track the entire exercise.
08:41Back to you.
08:43Oh yes, absolutely, Rohit.
08:45And Nitish Kumar has had the undettered support of people.
08:48Filling into his shoes is not going to be easy.
08:50But like you're saying,
08:51that promising names that are doing the rounds,
08:53as far as Samrat Chaudhary is concerned,
08:55sources also tell India today that
08:58Nitish Kumar
09:00certainly extends his blessings
09:02when it comes to Samrat Chaudhary.
09:04Now, whether he'll also be BJP's pick
09:06is an important decision
09:07because BJP also mulling
09:10on whether the name could emerge
09:12from the EBC community.
09:14We'll try and get further details.
09:16But Rohit, if you continue to stay with us,
09:18do tell us what time,
09:19what more are you picking up
09:21as far as this particular meeting is concerned.
09:23It is underway.
09:24And like you're saying,
09:25two to three days at max
09:27is what we understand
09:29that the announcement will be made,
09:31the decision will be taken.
09:32and the oath-taking ceremony soon after that.
09:36But today's meeting, extremely crucial.
09:43Well, see, yes,
09:44when Amit Shah is in Patna right now
09:46and in the evening,
09:47he will be leaving Patna.
09:49So next two to three hours,
09:50we're expecting that negotiations will go on.
09:53Some talks are going on right now
09:54as far as the formation
09:56of the new government is concerned.
09:57Who will be the CM pick?
09:59That remains the million-dollar question.
10:02But as I told you,
10:03probable name,
10:03Samrat Chawdi being the front-runner.
10:05But also,
10:06apart from the fact that
10:07the BJP will be having
10:08their own chief minister
10:10for the first time in Bihar,
10:12the question also arises
10:13that who all will be in the government
10:15and how will the power transfer take place?
10:19Because remember,
10:19Swesha,
10:20in the last 21 years or so,
10:22this is going to be
10:24the biggest political development of Bihar.
10:27Nitish Kumar,
10:28in the last few years,
10:29has switched sides
10:31from RJD to BJP,
10:32BJP to RJD.
10:33We have seen a lot of political developments
10:35taking place in Patna.
10:37But over the last 21 years,
10:39one thing has remained common,
10:42that is Nitish Kumar.
10:43He has always been the chief minister,
10:46whichever side he goes to.
10:47But now,
10:48when Nitish Kumar is quitting
10:49the Bihar politics,
10:51you can say,
10:51confirm that Nitish Kumar is switching,
10:54in fact,
10:55quitting the state politics,
10:56moving to the centre.
10:57So it's going to be
10:58the biggest political development
11:00in Bihar
11:01that is going to take place.
11:03And that is why,
11:04since it's going to be
11:05the biggest political development,
11:07so obviously,
11:08big task ahead.
11:10Oh yes,
11:10certainly Rohit.
11:11And we'll keep coming back to you
11:12for all the updates,
11:13that meeting that is already underway.
11:15And once that concludes,
11:16we are expecting
11:18for some concrete statement
11:21to be made
11:21as far as these fast-paced developments
11:23are concerned.
