00:00Can I ask you about Spencer Jones of the New York Yankees?
00:03Spencer Jones has three homers so far this spring.
00:05They've left the bat at 112, 108, and 107.
00:08They've traveled 408, 427, and 401.
00:11They're moonshots that Spencer Jones is hitting right now.
00:14He's three for 10, I know.
00:16But his three hits are very, very loud.
00:19Where do you stand on Spencer Jones of the Yankees right now?
00:23He's one of those players where you put the future value,
00:26you put the plus grade next to it because you say,
00:29if I'm wrong, it's going to be because he is better than I thought
00:31because we left him off the top 100.
00:34There's a swing adjustment every spring.
00:36There's some exciting results every spring.
00:39And then we endure the turbulence that comes along with the season.
00:44I am just going to not really buy into it
00:48until I fully see it over a larger sample.
00:50I think with the speed and the power,
00:52he's going to be able to carve out a role for himself.
00:55But I think Jason Dominguez has a much better chance
00:57of being able to help this team this year.
00:58And I understand that Jones gives you a little bit more
01:00on the defensive side, but I really do believe that.
01:03I'm going to be skeptical until proven otherwise.
01:05It's pretty much home run or strikeout right now.
01:07I think that's generally what it's going to be.
01:09I like the adjustment.
01:10I think there's implications that it could help,
01:13but we've done this dance before,
01:15and he's going to need to do it over the course of a full season.
01:18It was a little bit better last year,
01:19so even a little bit better this coming season
01:21should be enough for him to be a big leaguer.
01:23I just don't know what that role looks like.
01:25In the spring, it's just not going to be enough to convince me.
01:27We've got a little over a minute left in this segment.
01:30I would like your 60-second synopsis of Jesus Mede to this point,
01:34because the Brewer prospect three for 15 with a triple,
01:37he has popped some interesting EVs on some weird swings as well.
01:41So you have a minute.
01:43Floor is yours.
01:43What's your Jesus Mede takeaway?
01:45I mean, he's one of the more talented teenagers we've seen.
01:49I just put out a piece after sitting down with Brewer's assistant
01:53director of player development, Brenton Del Chiaro,
01:55talking about how Mede showed up to camp 10, 15 pounds stronger,
01:59and I think that is already evident with how quickly he's moving the bat.
02:03This guy gets fooled on the front side,
02:05just throws his hands at the ball, and it's a 106-mile-an-hour liner,
02:08beating the right fielder over the head.
02:09This is some freak talent that we're seeing on display in spring training.
02:14Now he still has some work to do.
02:15I think he gets on that front side too early,
02:17but if you're going to have the tendency to get onto that front side too early,
02:20it hedges it when you're a guy that can swing from that position
02:23and still put up 106, 107s plus.
02:26He has been amazing to watch,
02:27and I think this is a player that you don't see very often
02:31as a switch hitter with his bat speed.
02:33So it's been cool to see him put it on display in big league spring training.
