00:00Nobody in my family played any sort of instrument.
00:03I was, I don't know, seven, eight years old.
00:05I got a guitar for Christmas.
00:07I have no idea why my parents bought one.
00:09I took some lessons and then just jumped in with both feet,
00:13started playing Beatles songs, Simon and Garfunkel.
00:17There was a school talent show.
00:19Put a little band together and we did House of the Rising Sun
00:23and I'm Not Your Stepping Stone by the Monkees.
00:26Wound up winning the contest and I was off to the races.
00:30Obviously, I did the cover path mid to late 70s.
00:34It was all about covers and bands were doing tribute acts.
00:38So I started doing that when I was like 16, 17 years old
00:41and, you know, making decent money at it, six, 700 bucks a week.
00:47But one point I just said, I'm done.
00:50I want to write my own music.
