00:00I knew something was wrong. Everybody that thought I went outside of my house just to have the baby on
00:09the porch, give me your phones. Why would I do that? That day I had my 38 week appointment. I
00:16am to the point where I don't want to be pregnant anymore. On my way home, I'm telling my husband
00:21like, you know, I'm just in a bit of pain. I don't know if this is the real thing or
00:24not. He's like, okay, well just come home. We'll take care of you.
00:27She had no idea the evening was about to become far more intense than she ever imagined.
00:33Got in the shower, but I couldn't take the pain. It was so unbearable. So I got out the tub,
00:39got in my bed and I knew something was like wrong. My husband is like, we call him Bree. Bree
00:47is my midwife, by the way. She hears me and he's like, what do I do? She said, I think
00:54you need to get in the car and get to the birthing center before.
00:57We have a car baby. They hurried toward the birthing center, hearts pounding, knowing every second counted.
01:05When you have a baby at the birth center, these midwives are on call. Everyone has to go to the
01:12birthing center. It should have taken us all the same amount of time to get there.
01:16However, we beat everyone by quite some time. My husband is trying to put the code in the door. He
01:23can't. Whether he heard the code wrong, whether he was nervous, we can't get the code in the door.
01:29And then, in an instant, the situation took an even more dramatic turn.
01:34I lean up off the wall and my water immediately breaks. And then I feel this immense amount of pressure.
01:40And so I knew like, we're going to have the baby outside.
01:43We get the blankets and stuff and put them out. And that's how the blanket got on the ground. I
01:49get on all fours. I could feel like, oh my God, he's coming.
01:55Before they could make it inside, labor took over. She began delivering the baby right there on the front porch.
02:01His head is coming. Go get him. Go get him. And so my husband like rushes back there. And he
02:08freaking grabs the baby out. There was no pushing. Y'all, I did not push.
02:13I turn around, grab my baby. I'm patting his back, making sure he's crying. I'm trying to stimulate him, clear
02:20out his airways. And he's crying. And I'm like, I'm crying. We're all crying.
02:26My husband's like trying not to pass out or whatever. He's also like, I can't believe I just delivered my
02:32own baby on the porch in the middle of the night.
02:35My son's like, oh my God, my brother just came out of your butt. It was, it was amazing.
02:41And literally a few seconds later, my midwife pulls up. And my husband, he never lets the midwives hear the
02:49end of it. Whenever we go, he's like, am I going to have to deliver the baby this time?
02:53So how is that little one doing today? A few years later, he's healthy, happy, and full of life.
02:59One day, he'll have quite the unbelievable birth story to share with his grandchildren.
