00:04How's it? Sorry, how's it, Keshe? You're probably the best guy to speak to today because in the
00:12SA20 you played with Shafran Rutherford, you played with Shai Hope, you played with Rost and
00:18Chase. I don't know what the team's gonna look like but probably the first two are going to be
00:22playing. How important were your inputs in the bowling meetings this week? Yeah, we chatted briefly
00:29about it. I think it's obviously a build-up also from the series we played prior to coming to the
00:34World Cup. We know the danger that they do possess so you know it's about coming up with nice and
00:40simple plans and focusing on our execution towards those batters. Don't know if you saw that there
00:48were a lot of talk now after you guys beat India that off permutations and stuff but I guess for
00:55you guys it's simple just keep on winning. Yeah, for us look the main thing is we're taking each
01:00game at its time. Obviously it was a really big game for us and a huge one so to come
01:05over a line
01:06just gives you a little bit of confidence you know moving into the next game. West Indies played an
01:10amazing game of cricket against Zimbabwe so you know it's back to the drawing board to get
01:14tomorrow and like I said taking each game at a time. How does the challenge of taking on West Indies
01:22differ from the challenge of playing India? At this stage in the tournament it's a huge game for us
01:29because we know if we get over the line or hopefully we do get over the line you know it
01:33gives us the
01:33qualification into the semi-finals. We like I said West Indies have a way of turning up in these events
01:39and we know the danger they possess from an explosive point of view and they've got some
01:44batters in form and some bowlers that are finding rhythm so making sure that we're quite clear in
01:49what we're trying to do and focusing solely on our execution. You know if in South African terms
01:56you know that if you're playing at St. George's Park when you're playing at Wanderers those are two very
02:00different sets of conditions but Wanderers and St. Jerome maybe not so much so so I wonder you know all
02:05this talk about black soil versus red soil is it that different? To be honest I've tried to
02:10understand it as much as possible and I just try like you know on the day adapt and see what
02:15it's
02:16giving you but yeah they generally say red soil and black soil is very different in terms of reaction
02:20so it's our first three o'clock start tomorrow from this whole tournament so it's about adapting
02:25quicker rather than later.
02:31Kesh just on conditions I mean you guys have been here a lot now and everybody's saying there's an
02:36advantage to to staying here but the pictures are changing so is there still that advantage?
02:42Um it's nice to not travel but from a pitch point of view I think every game has been very
02:49different
02:50uh the four matches that we've played here conditions are played very differently throughout
02:55the game so I won't see it too much as a of an advantage it's just making sure that we
03:00adapt very
03:01quick uh quicker rather than later compared to the opposition and focus on the execution of the adaption
03:06within the game. And when you say adapt quickly I mean what do you do do you watch two balls
03:12and then
03:12say okay it's bouncing like this or or how does that happen? Yeah generally the bowlers give feedback and
03:17quickly is brilliant behind the stumps and assessing conditions obviously he's got the best view from
03:22anyone else so you know getting that communication amongst the bowlers really good I know source is
03:26also brilliant at that um Aiden if you don't know what source is yeah so and then it's just about
03:32communicating like in terms of slow balls cutters probably the lengths you know those sort of thing
03:37and yeah that's basically the adaption on the day and then from the batting front is just saying okay
03:41this is our scoring areas based on the conditions that we've been posed with.
03:44Can I just do one more um just in terms of like you know you beat India and and that
03:49was a huge game
03:49a lot of tension and and now you're probably being spoken about as favorites you've been in this
03:54position before how do you deal with it personally and how's the team dealing with because expectation
03:59is is obviously growing. Yeah I think coming back after the win against India there was real sort of
04:04energy and buzz to our camp I mean you beat probably the best side in the competition if you look
04:09at it
04:10um but we're not getting carried away at that we still know that there's a lot of cricket to be
04:15played in this tournament so you know dusting ourselves off and you know doing things that we
04:20can do better from that game and and focusing on the positives and keep building like I said West
04:24Indies is a very strong side a very dangerous side so not to be taken for granted at any stage
04:29but
04:29yeah just focusing on what we can do really well and adapting very quickly. Hi Keishu. Keishu you
04:36made light work of a you know really power packed Indian batting line-up. West Indies have also been
04:40going hammer and tongs they scored 254 against Zimbabwe. In that win do you think that the toughest
04:45challenge for the South African bowling line-up will be tomorrow and how much of a confidence boost do
04:49you think your three wickets against India will be? Um I don't think we made light work of of the
04:55game but
04:55I think we were quite clinical in what we wanted to execute and that kudos goes to the fast bowlers
05:01as well and the way they tried and uh sort of set the plans up and it played dividends uh
05:06but yeah
05:07like I said like you said West Indies is an explosive batting unit so making sure that we come up
05:11with
05:12sound plans to try and combat their batters based on the conditions that we faced with it is a day
05:16game
05:17so adapting quickly and finding those sort of one percenters that are going to help us on the day is
05:22going
05:22to be crucial tomorrow. And also there will be a bit of a contrast in fan support because last time
05:27around
05:27you played in front of 90,000 fans who were all you know which is cheering for the Indian team
05:31this time
05:32around your victory could be crucial for the Indian team as well so we might have them supporting you
05:36are you looking forward to that? Yeah very much so I think we've been received nicely in Ahmedabad
05:41from a crowd point of view and a fan point of view so hopefully much more of that.
05:50Hi Keshav, considering that West Indies have so many power hitters in the lineup
05:55and tomorrow is a day game so what is ideal setting them the target or otherwise? Sure I wouldn't be
06:03able to answer that we'll have to wait till tomorrow to see the conditions and and what the captain feels
06:08on that. Keshav obviously getting into the business end of the tournament you had like two really
06:17tough wins I mean you came back from 24-3 against India the Afghanistan game could have gone either
06:22way so being like battle hardened how how crucial it is going into the you know the final stages of
06:28this
06:28event? Yeah it's I think it's it speaks to the character within the lineup and within our team and
06:34squad and that's a huge thing for us in previous world cups we never crossed over those small
06:39moments so we take the small victories and we keep building if the character is strong and winning
06:44those small moments it propels us to go further on in this tournament. In the whole of the tournament
06:50the spinners had an upper hand what do you feel about tomorrow's match because tomorrow is also going
06:54to be very crucial match and you are the man who has done the table of south down as far
06:58as India is concerned.
07:01Look it hasn't spun too much in India if I'm honest it's been really good wickets the seamers have
07:05done well I mean someone like Lungi bowling forwards for like 16 runs is almost unheard of on such good
07:11wickets here generally you know just a bit from the other side so yeah West Indies have some amazing
07:17spinners in Moti and Akil so yeah I'm just trying to do my job and sort of complement my fast
07:23bowlers if it's
07:24my time to take wickets so be it if not and I'm there to to fulfill my role towards the
07:29fast bowlers
07:30which they have done exceptionally well taking wickets in the power play taking wickets in the
07:34middle overs and obviously at the depth they've been nice and clear
07:40yeah yeah Siddharth here from the PTA. Keshav we talk about the due factor it has been you know
07:45different from Sri Lanka Sri Lanka in evening you don't have that much of due factor but
07:50here you find it in some parts of the world especially here also is the due factor taken
07:54into consideration before such a big pressure match for you what do you think about that?
07:59Yes and no we found that obviously the groundsman spray is a specific chemical on on the surface
08:06in terms of the outfield so as much as sort of dew comes in it doesn't make the ball wet
08:11which
08:11sounds very contradictory but yeah I think certain parts of India yes the dew is a huge factor but
08:17in Amurabad it hasn't been too much of a factor if you looked at it yeah the ball still remained
08:22dry
08:23because I think would do that one of the biggest factors is the ball getting slippery which it
08:27hasn't gone so far. I just want to ask if you recovered from that like rugby tackle against Corbin
08:34Bosch and what you guys were doing in that moment? Yeah the ball went up I looked at him and
08:39he paused so
08:40then I started going so I didn't hear a call or anything like that and as I dived I saw
08:45him in my
08:45peripheral so luckily I pulled out otherwise I think my jaw might have been missing but now but I'm
08:49good I'm all good. Keshav, you've spoken about the the seamers and how well they've been bowling and
08:57one big theme throughout the World Cup has been change-ups and slower balls and stuff but I was
09:02wondering from for you as a left arm spinner do you have any like change-up or variations and
09:09or is that more of lines or can you talk about that a bit? Yeah yeah look I think because
09:14the wicket
09:15hasn't assisted as much as I mean from a spin perspective it hasn't really turned if I'm honest
09:21just trying to be wily in what I do whether it's deceiving in the air or using lines and angles
09:27I think
09:28as a spinner of the modern generation you can't be predictable in what you try in terms of consistency
09:33from where you're going to land the ball unless the wicket is really turning so yeah just trying to
09:39work be one step ahead from the analysis work that I'm trying to that I'm doing behind
09:44before the game and trying to implement those strategies that I come up with.
09:49Yeah you all had a near perfect game against India your plans and execution of plans came up perfectly
09:56now you're going to meet West Indies. Hetmeier is the danger man as far as West Indies is concerned
10:03is there any plan like that and and for the others like how to face the spinners of their team
10:08as you
10:09said doesn't turn much here skids more than turns so does it skid because of the dew that comes on
10:17the
10:17pitch where there's no chemical spray? Look we've played two day games here so there wasn't much of
10:25a dew factor and then the game against India the wicket was very different to what we it was
10:31obviously slowed down as the game went on so it couldn't really say from a skid perspective yeah
10:38in terms of plans I think guys have their own individual plans which is important because you
10:42don't want to take away from the natural ability of someone but finding their their game plans within
10:47their own strengths and and figuring out a way through is things that the conversations that are
10:52happening with with both ball and that
10:54you
10:54you
10:55you
10:56you
10:58you
