00:02Hi Shay, obviously not the result that you wanted. Do you think it was a change in
00:06conditions and you know you guys haven't been here before that maybe the
00:10batters just struggled to adapt to the extra bounce maybe or something like
00:13that? There's so many factors that you can come and discuss. Execution, I think
00:18it always boils down to execution but you're right. Sometimes when you don't
00:23adapt and assess as quickly as you as you would like then you find yourself
00:26playing catch up. In this situation I felt this was a very good surface actually
00:30kind of reminded me of a South African service and the way some of these
00:35services that we played on in the last series that we played against them. I felt
00:38as though maybe 40, 50, even 60 rather short the way how the pitch was playing.
00:44But again as you said I maybe didn't assess as well as we could have and then
00:47obviously with the wickets in the power play would always push us back. Just on the
00:52South African attack I mean we see they've got a range of skills you know
00:55pace on pace off it. How good are they? They're a very good team. You can see they've
01:01been doing it for how many years now all of them and it's nice as a as a
01:07captain is from from Aiden's perspective to be able to call on so many
01:10factors they have there. Especially when you've got guys like Lungi bowling those
01:14slow ball they play with him in SA and I can see how deadly they were. But yeah
01:18they're a very good team and I can say the same for our batters but they got the
01:21better of us today. I'm sure you've lost one game in six. Do you think it's fair
01:27that your road ahead in the tournament should look quite as difficult as it does
01:31in seeing that you've been successful? I wouldn't say it's a difficult road. I
01:36think this is how it's supposed to be because when you come into crunch time of
01:39a tournament every opposition or every game you play now is supposed to be a
01:44challenge in some way. And this is the reason why it's Super 8 and then if you get to
01:49the semis in the finals there's a reason why because it's the better teams or the
01:52best teams in the latter half of the stages of the tournament. So again I
01:57wouldn't say that it's a you know anything to jump out the board but yeah we
02:01got to make sure we're playing a lot better cricket now we see situation that
02:04could be faced or could face us in the next couple of days so we got to make
02:09sure we turn things around quickly and get a good result against India.
02:15Hi Shay. So first of all not the result that you wanted but what was the idea behind getting
02:23Rostan Chase into the 11 and secondly next game is against India where Net 100 will
02:29play obviously a huge huge effect. So what is going to be the mindset going into that game as well?
02:33Well like I said at the toss it was more of a tactical decision which is so they
02:39were they've got a few destructive left-handers in the top part in the top
02:43order and most of our bowling bowling options are almost similar so we're just
02:51trying to have a bit more variety from that front. This is very tough to leave
02:55out a guy who's been so good for us over many many years like Aki was saying but I
03:00still think in a tournament this is very important to to make sure you're giving
03:04yourself the best chance in terms of pre-match or preparation. We just felt as
03:09though that would have been the best 11 for today you know we still didn't execute as
03:13well we wanted to so we could always look back in hindsight and say oh this guy
03:16should play that guy should have played but still boys on to the 11 who goes out
03:20there whoever we choose we still backing each and everyone 100% to get the job
03:24done for the team. Hi so today even though y'all lost like five or six wickets early on
03:32y'all were still going for your shorts like the intent was still there or was that a
03:38message that you like the team decided or do you feel that y'all could have maybe
03:43taken it a little slow and then like after losing a quick wickets then y'all could
03:49have got the extra 40-50 runs in the end that you spoke about. In with the
03:55evolution of T20 cricket these days is it's tough to give a solid answer for
04:00that especially now when there's no right or wrong way to go about it
04:05because there's some cases where let's say Shepi and Jason went even harder to
04:10start who knows we could have got 230 240 and then the other way around we could
04:15have tried to hold the innings together a little bit longer and then maybe they
04:18got out as soon as they started to try it out the ante. So there's no there's no
04:23set way or there's no one particular way I think they need to go about it it's
04:27just how best we can execute on a given day in whichever situation we face with
04:31you know the ideal situation would be for the openers to get off to a great start
04:36but all the way through the innings and you know have as much wickets in hand to
04:39go as hard as you want but every game doesn't go that way we saw today was one of
04:44those games just unfortunately we didn't get as many runs as we wanted to but
04:49having said that I still feel as though everyone in our body in order can get the
04:52job done whichever situation we face with
05:14so like I said we can sit here and have discussions along everything because I could have brought
05:19Moti and I could have brought Brandon Kinging and got in a wicket so it's just how
05:24cricket plays on certain days. The seamers from the South African side they were
05:30getting a bit of shape early up again it's a movement and you can see what
05:33happened in our in our power play and similarly I was more so to try to play the
05:37matchups but in this situation you know every time they over finish
05:42Crinney wasn't really on strike I was looking to get rosting in early at that
05:45Crinney but it just didn't work out and Matthew was getting some shape as well just
05:48to start it was caused a bit of problems but again it's just just how it goes
05:53sometimes every day is not going to be the day we want it to be and things
05:57won't always go the way we want to go. You know you lost four wickets in power play
06:03and still there was no one to kind of hold the innings at one end at least all of
06:10them seem to be playing more percentage shots then you know play short shots wise and you've
06:16been playing like that and you were like has been hitting sixes and like that but
06:20here he was good you got dropped and again he tried that shot and he got out so why why
06:27there was no plan B to kind of change it to play a little bit holding game rather than
06:32going for your shots which you're trying. So you want me to tell you that you wanted to see the
06:37guys knocking the ball around a little bit more and that's what you want me to say. Like I said
06:42before it's just how cricket plays sometimes because there's no right or
06:46wrong way when it comes to batting because you can go for a big shot there's some
06:49level of risk or some element of risk whenever you're batting. So if you want to
06:53challenge their their their team their opposition then you got to find especially
06:58on a service like that which was so good you still have to measure the risk in
07:04some way and like I said if we just bat deep and only get 160 150 on the service like
07:11that
07:11is always going to be tough work we're going to be asking our bowlers way too much. So I
07:16I wouldn't say that we should have changed the way we went about it maybe a few decisions could you
07:22know could be questioned but in terms of soft selection we're saying but we got ourselves up to
07:27one 170 plus from the position we were in. So I think you must give the guys credit for that
07:33for
07:33that effort and something that I always tend to do I have to you have to look at the positive
07:38out
07:38of whatever situation you're faced with. Yes we always tend to we like to focus on everything that went
07:43wrong or the negatives but from that situation I could always I could feel some level of confidence
07:49from a from a team perspective knowing that okay we were what 80 for six or seven or something like
07:54that and we got to 177 so it must give you some some level of confidence but like I said
08:01there's
08:01no right or wrong way there's no one set way to go about batting there's no one particular method
08:06that you can you can get to the score you're looking for but I just felt this is a good
08:10surface and
08:11probably just needed a few more today
