00:00The story of S. Usha, wife to one fallen hero and mother to another, is heart-wrenching.
00:07As FMT columnist Tajuddin Razdi points out, we can never begin to imagine how she is enduring the pain.
00:13On the other hand, we have to try to put ourselves in her shoes.
00:18Her story brings to mind two movies.
00:21The first is Steven Spielberg's Saving Private Ryan, about a squad of soldiers sent to bring James Ryan home to
00:28his mother,
00:28whose three other sons had already been killed in action.
00:32The second is Amaran, an Indian film of a young woman whose husband, a soldier,
00:38is awarded the nation's highest military award posthumously.
00:41In the final scene, she and her daughter are weeping in private so she could keep her promise to him
00:47to never cry in front of others.
00:49For Tajuddin, this is poignant.
00:51But in this sad story, a proposal from past information chief Ahmad Fadli Shaari comes as a pleasant surprise.
01:00Fadli has proposed that Usha be honored for the sacrifices her husband, S. Kayambu, and son, K. Indirin, made for
01:08the nation.
01:09This is a man who has often come across as divisive for his many political remarks and his dismissal of
01:15a protest over illegal temples.
01:17For Tajuddin, this was a welcome change.
01:22He expresses hope that the Prime Minister or even the King will heed Fadli's suggestion that we, as a nation,
01:29honor Usha as well as the memory of her husband and son.

01:37Finally, past man's remarks on Kay and Indirin are welcome to respite, only on FMT.
