00:00Simborong UMNO has proposed that its suspended former division chief Hishamuddin Hussein be

00:07readmitted to the party leadership. It suggested this at a meeting today, officiated by Johor

00:14UMNO chairman An-Hafiz Ghazi, who said he will bring the matter up to the party leadership.

00:21Describing Simborong as the place where he learned to navigate political challenges,

00:25An-Hafiz credited Hishamuddin with playing a key role in his own political development.

00:31He added that the proposal reflected the grassroots continued respect and appreciation

00:37for Hishamuddin's leadership. Hishamuddin, the current Simborong MP and a former UMNO vice president,

00:44was suspended from the party in January 2023 for two terms due to disciplinary breaches. Last year,

00:52UMNO president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the party is open to welcoming back sacked or suspended members

00:59if they prove their commitment to the party.
