00:08Hello and welcome to From the South. My name is Pablo Micheliche from the Telesur Studios
00:12in Caracas, Venezuela. We begin with the news. Stay with us. In Switzerland, the 61st session
00:19of the United Nations with Human Rights Council is taking place where member countries are
00:24denouncing widespread violations of international law. During the session, some of the present
00:29states denounced the continuation of ceasefire violations in the Gaza Strip by Israel, as
00:34well as the violation of human rights of children and women. Meanwhile, Venezuela reiterated
00:39its firm denunciation of the instrumentalization of human rights as political weapons used
00:44to attack, oppress, and cause suffering to the peoples of the world in order to subjugate
00:50their will. The Venezuelan foreign minister, Ivan Hill, stated that the Bolivarian government
00:54adopted a diplomatic channel with the United States to resolve joint differences on an
00:59equal basis without subordination.
01:04Excellencies, on the 3rd of January 2026, we saw a terrible turn of events, illegal military
01:15attack on our country, which caused over a hundred deaths and the arbitrary detention of the president,
01:23Nicolas Maduro Moro, and the first lady, Celia Flores, whilst they were exercising their official functions.
01:36We have seen that there is a technological and military imbalance, because we are up against
01:44the nuclear power of the United States. Nevertheless, we have opened up diplomatic channels in order
01:50to try and resolve the differences we have with that country. It's not a case of subordination,
01:55but it's on the basis of sovereign equality, not on the basis of fear, but on the belief that dialogue
02:01is the only civilized
02:03way for nations to behave with each other.
02:07During his speech at the UN Human Rights Council session, Venezuelan foreign minister, Ivan Hill,
02:12in the Bolivarian government's commitment to promoting dialogue and national reconciliation through the amnesty law.
02:19Bolivarian government has always promoted dialogue and reconciliation. Today we're working on the
02:25of a policy of healing and reconciliation. The policy of political coexistence, which we recently adopted, is an instrument for
02:40building peace and reconciliation following the recent political cycles.
02:46This ensures legal certainty and restorative justice without allowing for impunity for serious crimes, such as crimes against
02:56humanity, murder, or actions against our national sovereignty. It creates a special monitoring commission and
03:04which reiterates that we will solve our problems internally on the basis of the constitution with you promoting peaceful coexistence.
03:16In this context, Cuba's Minister of Foreign Affairs Bruno Rodriguez denounced at the United Nations Human Rights Council in
03:23General Switzerland, the U.S. aggressive measures against the Caribbean island and reiterated that the Cuban people will defend with
03:29the utmost vigor and courage their right to self-determination, independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity,
03:35and constitutional order.
03:37The executive order issued on January 29th by the President of the United States declares collective punishment of the Cuban
03:48people
03:49and aims to create a humanitarian catastrophe through an energy blockade.
04:00Can a great power be allowed to attempt to destroy a small, peaceful nation, provoke a humanitarian tragedy, destroy its
04:07national culture,
04:08and subject the noble and supportive people to genocide under the crude pretext of national security?
04:22The Cuban people will defend, with the utmost vigor and courage, in close unity and broad consensus,
04:28the right to self-determination, independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and constitutional order.
04:39We move on to the topics. The Beruvian Air Force reported that at least 15 people have died after one
04:45of his helicopter was found in the Arequipa region.
04:48Through a statement, it was confirmed that among the disease are seven minors aged three to 17 years.
04:55In this context, the Beruvian Air Force expresses deep sorrow over the accident and sends his condolences to the families
05:02of the victims.
05:02Additionally, the institution assured that it will investigate the causes of the Southern Air crash.
05:15Mexican law enforcement agencies were able to completely deactivate the road blockades caused by criminal groups in several regions of
05:22the country
05:23following some days of a security operation in the state of Jalisco.
05:26The security cabinet has succeeded in ending 100% of the blockades which had obstructed the main highways in Jalisco
05:34and spread to the state of Michoacán.
05:37The death of Nemesio Oseguera, alias El Mencho, leader of one of the mayor drug carters in Mexico, triggered a
05:44reaction from organized crime,
05:46who confronted Mexican federal forces in a clash that left more than 30 criminals, killed 70 arrested, and one citizen
05:53dead.
05:53In this regard, the Secretary of National Defense, Ricardo Trevilla Trejo, provided an assessment of the security operation that restored
06:01calm among civilians.
06:07In this case, it was the personnel of the Special Forces and of the National Guard's Special Immediate Response Force
06:16who planned the operation.
06:17On that same day, an operational force was organized,
06:27comprising three components, a land component that included personnel from the Joint Official Force,
06:32Army Special Forces, the National Guard's Inmediate Special Response Force, as I mentioned.
06:44Also, an air-mobile force comprising six helicopters with the Special Forces personnel, which would be hidden to the area
06:51of operations to maintain secrecy and thus achieve the element of surprise.
06:57In this context, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum clarified that the collaborative work with the United States was solely in the
07:04area of information exchange,
07:06but the operation from its planning stage was the responsibility of the Mexican Federal Forces.
07:16The operations, all operations are carried out by Federal Forces.
07:20There is no participation in the operation by U.S. forces.
07:24What there is, is a lot of information sharing, as we have said here several times.
07:28The understanding with the United States is based fundamentally on the exchange of intelligence information.
07:35In this case, there was information provided by the U.S. government, and they even issued a statement.
07:41Intelligence, but the entire operation, from its planning onwards, is the responsibility of Federal Forces, in this case the Ministry
07:48of National Defense.
07:53And Venezuela commemorates seven years since the Battle of the Bridges, an attempted invasion by the United States and its
07:59allies against the Bolivarian nation on the Colombian-Venezuelan border.
08:03The date commemorates the attempt by the national far right in alliance with the West to invade Venezuela under the
08:09pretext of delivering supposed humanitarian aid
08:12against the economic crisis that was plaguing the country as a result of the U.S. blockade.
08:17On a date like this, but in 2019, shock groups and mercenaries paid by the opposition threw stones and Molotov
08:24cocktails
08:25and threatened the security forces and civil societies with guns.
08:28In response, the people themselves, with the support of the armed forces, taught a lesson in dignity and courage in
08:35defence of sovereignty.
08:43As part of this commemoration, Venezuelan Defence Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez posted on his ex-social media account.
08:49In response to the events of February 23, 2019, presented as humanitarian aid but perceived by our people as an
08:57aggression,
08:58Venezuela responded with what has always been its greatest strength, unity in defence of peace.
09:03In the publication, Padrino Lopez emphasized, this is how we have acted every time there has been an attempt to
09:10undermine its stability or sovereignty.
09:13Today, we reaffirm not only our peaceful vocation but also our unwavering commitment to independence and self-determination.
09:20In addition, the Defence Minister stated, we reiterate to the world that the only legitimate way to approach Venezuela
09:26is through respect, diplomacy and full recognition of its status as a sovereign state.
09:32Enough violence against our country. Happy start to the week, Venezuela.
09:42We continue, Venezuela, members of an international solidarity delegation in the nation.
09:46To reaffirm their support for its sovereignty, visited the headquarters of our multi-platform, Telesur,
09:51and shared their experience, accounting for the resilience and resolution of the Venezuelan people after the January 3rd U.S.
09:59attack.
10:00So what we see now talking to fishermen communities in the commune social projects, social movements,
10:06is that the Bolivarian revolution is not only alive but it's advancing.
10:12And understanding this tough moment is understanding also that we need to improve solidarity around the world.
10:18So we've been to the places that were bombed and they are all rebuilt.
10:23And people, the communities, they are thinking on how can we share this message to the world.
10:28We've been to communities that are thinking, how can we never go through this again?
10:33How can we demand to have the constitutionally elected president and the first combatant, Celia Flores, back as soon as
10:40we can?
10:41So we see that the amazing resilience that we see in Palestine, that we see in Cuba, that we see
10:47in Venezuela, is alive and cannot be defeated by blockades, cannot be defeated by threats.
10:53And we will overcome this as humanity. We know we will.
10:59And we move on now to the United States.
11:02The President Donald Trump said he was considered a first limited military strike against Iran with a later possibility of
11:09one of larger proportion if the Persian nation does not renounce its nuclear capabilities and accept Washington's conditions.

11:22Vice President J.D. Benz, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff General Dan

11:41avoid military conflict.
11:48And Iranian President Massoud Peshis Khan affirmed that his country is fully committed to regional peace and stability.
11:54The Iranian leader expressed his commitment to establishing peace and stability, although he warned that he has taken the necessary
12:01measures to deal with any possible scenario that may arise.
12:05The head of state emphasized that they are closely monitoring the actions of the United States and have made all
12:10the necessary preparations to deal with any potential scenario in light of the recent threats by President Donald Trump.
12:17Peshis Khan explained that recent talks with Washington included an exchange of specific proposals revealing certain signs of progress.
12:30On the occasion of Russia's Day of the Defender of the Fatherland, President Vladimir Putin highlighted the commitment of the
12:37soldiers and added that they are the ones who are fighting for the future, independence, truth and national justice.
12:44The Russian President delivered a speech after leading a floral tribute ceremony at the Kremlin, which commemorates the patriotism of
12:52the thousands of military personnel who risked their lives to defend and protect the country's sovereignty.
12:58The head of state highlighted that these last years are filled with special pride and gratitude for the efforts of
13:04the soldiers who are fulfilling their duty in the Ukrainian conflict.
13:07Russia and other countries that belong to the Soviet Union commemorate February 23 as the Day of the Defender of
13:15the Fatherland in respect to the military history and to honor those who safeguard national security.
13:24We go now to Italy, the 25th edition of the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games came to a close
13:30with a closing ceremony in the Millennial Arena of Verona.
13:33The Roman Amphitheater was transformed into a futuristic stage where art and sport co-existed to celebrate the success of
13:42an Olympics that traveled through the regions of Lombardy and Veneto.
13:45One of the most important moments of the event was the extinction of the flame, symbolizing the end of 17
13:52days of high-level competition in the snow that began on February 6.
13:57With this event, Milan Cortina handed over the Olympic flag to the representatives of the French Alps, the designated venue
14:04for the next Winter Games in 2013.
