00:18The Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador calls for unity after confirming that it did not participate in a dialogue with the national government held this Wednesday.
00:30In Peru, the first fatality was reported as a result of the repression of protests against the government of President Jose Heri.
00:45Hello and welcome to From the South. I'm Alejandra Garcia from Telesur Studios in Havana, Cuba. We begin with the news.
01:00Venezuela denounces the United Nations Security Council, the extrajudicial executions by the United States in the Caribbean Sea and threats against the country.
01:13The permanent representative of Venezuela to the United Nations, Samuel Moncada, warned about the new and dangerous developments in the U.S. escalation in the Caribbean Sea over the last few days.
01:25Moncada explained that on October 14th, the U.S. government attacked a small boat that was in a stationary position a few miles off the Venezuelan coast.
01:36Among the victims were two fishermen from Trinidad and Tobago.
01:40And in this regard, the Venezuelan government called on the United Nations Security Council to launch an investigation to clarify the murders perpetrated by U.S. forces in the Caribbean against the small boats near the Venezuelan coast,
01:53which Washington has labelled without evidence as narco boats.
01:57Yesterday, on October 14th, 2025, the government of the United States of America got a new set of extrajudicial executions against civilians who were aboard the small stationary boat in the Caribbean Sea just a few miles off the coast of Venezuela.
02:23Recent reports of public domain have identified two humble fishermen from the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago among the victims.
02:32Their relatives indicate that those who were assassinated were engaged in fishing activities at the time.
02:38This act is yet another chapter in the escalation of the U.S. strikes carried out since September to date against civilian vessels transiting international waters in the Caribbean Sea.
02:51Moncada also rejected the new authorization from the U.S. government with the CIA, which would allow lethal operations to be carried out against Venezuela and the Caribbean.
03:04The recent attacks in the Caribbean Sea represent a point of maximum tension for peace and instability in Venezuela.
03:11The U.S. government has made and revealed that considering launching armed attacks on land, which would be contrary to the provisions of Article 2.4 of the Charter of the United Nations.
03:29Adding to this alarming situation is a recent decision by the White House, according to which the Trump Administration has
03:39The Trump Administration has secretly authorized the CIA to conduct covert actions in Venezuela.
03:49The new authorization would allow the CIA to carry out lethal operations in Venezuela and conduct a series of operations in the Caribbean.
04:04The Venezuelan foreign minister, Iván Hill, thanked on Thursday the support expressed by the member countries of the non-aligned movement during a ministerial meeting that took place in Kampala, Uganda.
04:17In other words, the 121 countries that make up this movement, not aligned countries, have
04:23expressed their absolute support for Venezuela.
04:26A five-point statement that you were able to read expressing concern about the military
04:33deployment that is now taking place in the Caribbean, carried out by the United States
04:39in the Caribbean, which has threatened the zone of peace declared by CELAC.
04:43And this ministerial meeting ratified, let us remember, that on September 19th, the Coordination
04:49Bureau of the Non-Allied Movement had already issued a very soon statement on this matter.
04:58But in addition to that, at this ministerial meeting, 121 countries have backed Venezuela's
05:03position before the United Nations Security Council.
05:07Let us remember that on October 10th, our permanent representative, Samuel Moncada, made an
05:13appointment representation to the Security Council, where we also saw that all its members, except
05:23for the aggressor, the one making threats, which is the United States, expressed their concern
05:27support for CELAC in defense of the zone of peace, and have stated that, very importantly,
05:32any aggression against Venezuela in the context of this military deployment in the Caribbean,
05:34would really mean an unnecessary escalation, a very dangerous escalation that would jeopardize
05:40the security of an entire region, so Venezuela feels supported.
05:47The Bolivarian Revolution feels supported.
05:48President Nicolás Maduro has achieved a great diplomatic triumph at this meeting, which marks
05:49a position that aligns with that of social movements, political movements, political movements,
05:50and political movements, and political movements.
05:51political parties, and public opinion, even within the United States.
05:52President Nicolás Maduro has achieved a great diplomatic triumph at this meeting, which marks
05:56a position that aligns with that of social movements, political parties, and public opinion,
05:58even within the United States.
05:59All of which rejects this false narrative used to threaten Venezuela, as we said yesterday,
06:06and the political movements, and political movements, and political movements, and political
06:08movements, and political movements, and political movements.
06:09President Nicolás Maduro has achieved a great diplomatic triumph at this meeting, which
06:13marks a position that aligns with that of social movements, political parties, and public
06:18opinion, even within the United States.
06:24All of which rejects this false narrative used to threaten Venezuela, as we said yesterday,
06:29the announcement by the U.S. government of the Authorization of the Central Intelligence Agency
06:36to undermine the stability of Venezuela, which they have not been able to do.
06:45Also, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez also supported Venezuela in its rejection
06:51to the U.S. aggression against the country.
06:53Through his ex-account, the President stated, at a time when the Empire and its misguided leaders
06:58are approving covert CIA operations against Venezuela.
07:03We express our solidarity with that brotherly people, and especially with their President,
07:08Nicolás Maduro.
07:09The President added, today Cuba is more mindful than ever of Martí's words.
07:14Give me Venezuela to serve, and it will have a son in me.
07:18And Fidel's, we must give everything for Venezuela.
07:21The head of state emphasize, we are confident that Venezuela and its popular military and police forces
07:28will once again overcome the threats and actions of the Empire.
07:32In this context, the Workers' Party of Brazil joined the voices condemning the recent U.S. attacks on vessels in the Caribbean
07:48and President Trump's authorization of CIA operations in Venezuela.
07:52The communique shared by the Brazilian organization condemned that the statements made by U.S. President Donald Trump
07:59authorizing secret CIA operations in the Venezuelan territory are an affront to their sovereignty and a violation of international law.
08:07It follows by denouncing that the military siege that has been carried out against the Venezuelan people
08:13with summary executions of human lives by U.S. military forces is an unacceptable practice,
08:19without legal basis and without any investigation process.
08:23The Brazilian Workers' Party goes on to recall how the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency, the CIA,
08:29has some history of sponsoring and coordinating illegal and destabilizing actions in South American countries
08:36aimed at regime change in countries considered hostile by Washington,
08:41adding that these anti-democratic actions left a trail of interference,
08:46illegalities, coupes, repression and lauded dictatorships across the subcontinent,
08:52and closing its statements by stressing that in the 21st century we cannot accept the repetition of practices
08:59from an oppressive and dark period and another attack on sovereignty in Latin America.
09:05And also authorities in Trinidad and Tobago have reported that some of the six people executed extrajudicially
09:19in a recent U.S. attack on a vessel in the Caribbean Sea may be nationals.
09:24In this regard, the Trinitarian Police is investigating the possible death of two citizens in the strike
09:29confirmed by Washington on October 14th.
09:32Pending confirmation, it is presumed that the victims were Shad Josep and Samarú, fishermen from the village of Las Cuevas.
09:40The alert about the presence of these fishermen on the vessel came from Shad Josep's mother
09:46and other members of the community who reiterated that the workers were not engaged in any criminal activity.
09:52I watched it as wickedness.
10:02Because why are we killing people to run into?
10:06They are not meant that they are supposed to be that way.
10:10No, no, no, no. The boys are no drug trap with her. They just make them run and come back.
10:20What the U.S. is doing there? I think it's inhumane, right?
10:26If only really, all right, only blow the boat up.
10:30What evidence it has showing really is drugs, you know, and stuff like that.
10:35Let me say is guns or even say is human trafficking anything.
10:40You can't. Why is it closed? Are the family having now?
10:47And now we have a short break coming up.

11:07Welcome back to From the South.
11:09This Thursday, President Nicolás Maduro Moros denounced an unprecedented conspiracy
11:14by the United States against the peace of Venezuela
11:16and asserted that the U.S. government authorized the CIA to carry out operations in the country.
11:22During the National Congress of Chefs and Cooks of the Homeland,
11:26the President described this action as an act of macabre dishonesty
11:31aimed at continuing the psychological warfare against the nation.
11:35The President also warned that the real reason for the imperialist siege is the colonization and thief of Venezuela's wealth.
11:44In this sense, the Head of State reiterated that Venezuelan people have the necessary mechanisms
11:49to overcome these types of threats and ensure that peace and tranquility prevail in the region.
11:55The National Congress of Chefs and Cooks of the Homeland has as its main objective
12:01to achieve the goals set out in the plan for the seven transformations to ensure the protection and development of the food program for Venezuelan students.
12:11For the first time in history, a government in the U.S. says that they have authorized and they have ordained to attack a country.
12:26I just say our people are very clear and united.
12:34They're very aware and they have millions of eyes and millions of ears and they have the ways for us to defeat again this open conspiracy against the peace and the stability of Venezuela.
12:51We win the peace and the stability to which the Venezuelan people have a right to.
13:02Likewise, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro condemned the double standards of the United States and the CIA to generate psychological warfare in the country.
13:12Can someone believe that the CIA hasn't conspired since 26 years ago against Commander Chavez and me if we now did in July an exchange to rescue the 252 Venezuelans kidnapped in El Salvador and we delivered to the government of the United States 10 CIA terrorists that were convicted and they confessed.
13:40So, at least, it seems an act of a double morale or as Delcy says of a very scary honesty for what to influence in the psychological war against the people and to try to frighten our people and to try to divide our people.
14:06But, even if it doesn't have a translation I'm going to say it and the English speaking journalists should look for it with their psychological war they want to demoralize the people.
14:22They want to scare them.
14:23They want to scare them.
14:24They want to hurt our country.
14:25But, I give you the good news that our people won't let anything in.
14:34Our people is firmly united in the defense of the right of its homeland, of its land.
14:41The truth of our Venezuela and of continuing to build in freedom the future that is filled with promise of our homeland.
14:56Our homeland, that is ours.
15:04And we stay in Venezuela where the integral defense management bodies were activated in the states of Tashira, Amazonas and Apure through Operation Independence 200.
15:14From then, this Thursday, Operation Independence 200 was activated in the south of the country as part of the civil military police exercises for the defense of the country's sovereignty in the face of foreign aggression.
15:27These exercises aim to raise the operational level of combat and the integration of the people in the defense of the nation, in addition to protecting the borders at different strategic points against any threat and ensuring that the country remains impenetrable, independent, free and sovereign.
15:46And in Venezuela, the rural militia was zoned in to defend territorial sovereignty against the imperialist war threats from the United States in the Caribbean.
15:59From the coastal state of La Guayra, the Minister of the Interior Justice and Peace, Diosdado Cabello, accompanied by the governor of the region, led the event as part of the Independence 200 exercises.
16:11The farmers of the area expressed their absolute commitment by taking on the challenge of protecting the homeland in a strategic area located right in front of the imperial threat posed by the Caribbean.
16:24Minister Cabello emphasized that the Venezuelan people have historically chosen freedom, permanently guaranteeing their unyielding willingness to defend the country's sovereignty.
16:34Minister Cabello emphasized that the Venezuelan people have historically chosen freedom, in a strategic area.
16:44Years ago, our people decided to be free.
16:48Years ago, centuries ago, they decided to be free.
16:53It took 70 years, 70 years for the Spanish Empire to cross these mountains.
17:0070 years because they couldn't cross them.
17:03Then they found a small path where they could pass, but where they went, they were annihilated.
17:10They were exterminated by the indigenous peoples who guarded these mountains.
17:15Today, it is up to us to follow the example of those peoples.
17:21And we have a second show break coming up.

17:41Welcome back to From the South.
17:53The Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador, CONAE, calls for unity after confirming that it did not participate in the dialogue with the national government held this Wednesday,
18:04where the national strike in protest against the elimination of the diesel subsidy was declared over.
18:09In a statement, CONAE and its regional branches indicate that unity has been essential to resist and move forward,
18:17following the events in the province of Imbabura, which has been the epicenter of mobilizations.
18:22CONAE also held an expanded council meeting where it was decided to reorganize the resistance throughout the country.
18:30The common goal, according to the statement, is to strengthen the no campaign in the upcoming referendum.
18:36The leadership also reaffirmed that all actions will be carried out within the collective principles to avoid internal divisions.
18:44Ecuadorian authorities from the Integrated Security Service ECU-911 revealed that the province of Guayas is the epicenter of violence in the country.
19:01ECU-911 reported that the coastal region registered the highest number of emergencies related to violent crimes,
19:09with more than 4,000 events in the month of September alone, representing 65.8% of the violence.
19:17Meanwhile, Guayas is home to the port of Guayaquil, key in the cocaine export routes to Europe.
19:23Experts assure that this transit point has turned the city into a scene of confrontations between gangs,
19:29who seek to control the lucrative drug trade.
19:32And on Thursday in Peru, the first fatality was reported as a result of the repression of protest against the government of President José Heri.
19:45The victim was identified as 32-year-old street artist Eduardo Ruiz, who was shot dead in the Shasta by the police.
19:53The incident occurred during a massive march organized by various social, civil and political groups,
19:59one of the largest recorded in recent years in the country, which was harshly repressed.
20:05According to information provided by the Ombudsman's Office, in addition to the fatality, there are nearly 100 injured,
20:13and numerous arrests have also been confirmed.
20:16The unrest underscores the deep public discontent with Peru's political establishment,
20:21as protesters accuse Congress of shielding Heri from accountability for sexual assault allegations.
20:34And Cuba's President Emil Díaz-Canel Bermúdez welcomed more than 100 young Palestinians
20:39studying medicine in the country to the Palace of the Revolution.
20:43During the meeting, President Díaz-Canel said that from the Anti-Imperialist Tribune,
20:48they will always emphasize their commitment to the Palestinian cause,
20:51so they can feel supported despite the challenges of the language.
20:55He also emphasized that Commander Fidel Castro always showed his support for the Palestinian starless struggle,
21:02and that he always denounced Israel's crimes to the world.
21:06After two years of genocide, the Cuban leader also told the young people
21:10that they are the future of Palestine in the making, not only as doctors but also as revolutionaries.
21:17And in a plenary session of the committees of the Argentine Chamber of Deputies,
21:27a project was discussed to require the executive branch to submit any financial agreement signed with the United States to Congress for approval.
21:36The draft resolution establishes that no agreement or loan with Washington can be implemented without the intervention of Congress,
21:45and requires the executive and the central bank to submit all documents related to the negotiations.
21:50The document highlights the role of the legislative branch under Article 75 of the National Constitution,
21:56which grants Congress the exclusive power to borrow money, approve treaties and arrange for the payment of foreign debt.
22:04The debate on this project is taking place in a context of political mistrust in Argentina,
22:10where the opposition is seeking to strengthen institutional controls in response to Javier Millet's economic agreements with the U.S. Treasury.
22:23And in Chile, investigations started as part of the national search plan for people detained and forcibly disappeared during the Pinochet dictatorship.
22:32The proceedings for the identification of illegal burials are being carried out at Carlos Cortés in the Valparaiso region,
22:40a place used as a detention center between 1973 and 1977.
22:46The fundamental objectives of this plan are to clarify the circumstances in which the events occurred
22:51and to determine the whereabouts of disappeared persons as well as to guarantee access to information and the participation of their relatives.
23:01According to reports from the Truth Commission, the total number of victims of the Pinochet dictatorship is more than 40,000,
23:08including those murdered, disappeared, imprisoned and tortured, not counting the 200,000 exiles.
23:15And U.S. President Donald Trump announced on his Truth Social account an upcoming meeting with his Russian counterpart,
23:30Vladimir Putin, to discuss negotiations to end the conflict in Ukraine.
23:35The meeting, which is to take place in Budapest, Hungary, was arranged during a phone call in which, according to Trump,
23:42he and Putin had a productive conversation aimed at negotiating an end to the war.
23:47As part of these efforts, a meeting of high-level advisers from Russia and the United States will also be held next week.
23:54And in addition, Trump added that he also discussed with the Russian President possible trade agreements between Washington and the Kremlin,
24:01once peace in Ukraine and peace with Ukraine is achieved.
24:10And after this information, we have come to the end of this brief brief.
