00:00Hello and welcome to From the South. I'm Alejandra Garcia from Telesur Studios in Havana, Cuba.
00:14We begin with the news.
00:30Iran launched Tuesday a new wave of retaliatory actions as part of its True Promise 3 operation.
00:39During the 11th wave of retaliatory missiles, new failures in the Israel's Iron Dam air defense system was reported as well as direct missiles hit on targets in Tel Aviv.
00:51The strikes triggered again air raid Sionians and in Israel's capital that occupied Jerusalem, the Iranian media highlighted that the armed forces launched more than 100 hypersonic missiles from the province of Fars.
01:04The Iranian Revolutionary Guard had announced earlier that it had attacked the Sionist entity's military intelligence centers known as Aman and other key infrastructure of the Sionist entity.
01:21Earlier on Tuesday, Iran fired more than 350 ballistic missiles at Israeli-occupied territory, striking military facilities in Tel Aviv, including a Mossad headquarters.
01:47The Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps maintained its counter-offensive against Israel.
01:53The spokesperson for the Israeli Ministry of Defense assured that they detected most of the attacks by the latest models of missiles launched and warned that the attack will continue.
02:05According to Israeli media, the attacks hit the center of Tel Aviv and the Herlija area where the Gilead camp is located, which houses high-level military intelligence units and the Israeli Armed Forces Center.
02:23Israel reports fires in the city of Haifa after Iranian missiles hit the region.
02:41The impact of the missiles from Teheran's operation through Promise 3 reportedly triggered explosions and fires in the port city overnight, which have continued during the day affecting buildings and vehicles.
02:55In this context, Israeli security personnel and rescue teams keep inspecting and cleaning the buildings and areas impacted.
03:11Iran stated that it is exercising its right to self-defense against the war crimes perpetrated by Israel.
03:17At the 78th United Nations plenary meeting, Iranian representative Amir Said Iravani explained that the Sionist regime mainly attacks residential areas, contrary to the Israeli narrative of carrying out surgical strikes without collateral damage.
03:35Iravani emphasized that Israeli bombings have resulted in 1,481 Iranians killed and wounded, including children.
03:45Given this situation, he emphasized that the Iranian armed forces have escalated their bombings against strategic targets in occupied territories, concentrating their attacks mainly on Tel Aviv and Haifa, two of Israel's most important military centers.
04:03Regional media reported that explosions have been heard during the early hours of Wednesday morning in some areas of the Iranian capital Teheran.
04:20In addition, it was reported that air defenses are facing Israeli offensive in the city of Mashhad.
04:27Shortly after such reports, the Israeli Defense Forces, IDF, communicated that the Hebrew country is carrying out a series of attacks in the area of Teheran.
04:40The offensive came after the IDF threatened to bomb Teheran's 18th district, a densely populated area near Mirabad Airport and the Aerospace University, and urged civilians to evacuate the area immediately.
04:55On Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump abandoned G7 summit being held in Canada.
05:07Sources claimed that the group's inability to take a stand on the Iranian issue angered the Republican leader, who did not wait for the final declaration.
05:17In his hostage return to Washington, Trump ordered 10 million Iranians to abandon Teheran.
05:23The U.S. President said to be in talks with the Persian nation to return to the dialogue table,
05:29reporting that he would charge businessman Steve Wedgkopf and Vice President J.D. Vance to reach a good agreement.
05:37However, on Tuesday, he assured on his social media that he was not seeking dialogue with anyone and recommended once again that Iran prepare for the worst.
05:49While Iran continues international dialogue to explain the tensions and seek the intervention of the United Nations in pursuit of a diplomatic solution to the conflict,
06:07The President of the United States continues to send confusing signals regarding the future of nuclear talks.
06:13Below are some of his statements made in less than 24 hours.
06:17On his social media, he declared that Iran is not winning this war with Israel, urging Teheran to seek dialogue before the situation escalates.
06:27However, this statement seems to ignore the complexity of the conflict and the reality on the ground where tensions between the two countries have reached alarming levels.
06:38Washington's capacity to intervene in any conflict is becoming increasingly weak and unlikely.
06:45The U.S. President called for the immediate evacuation of Teheran.
06:49He assumes he has the right to decide whether or not Iran can use nuclear energy for the benefit of its people.
06:56However, no one seems to take him seriously.
06:59Trump wants the highest-ranking Iranian figures to be present at the agreements, but few indeed don't trust him.
07:06The President said that J.D. Vance, Vice President of the United States, and Steve Witkoff, Special Envoy for the Middle East, would contact the Persian teams.
07:16However, on Tuesday, he assured on his social media that he was not seeking dialogue with anyone
07:22and recommended once again that Iran prepare for the worst.

07:42We'll be right back and start with us.
07:43Welcome back to From the South.
08:11On Tuesday morning, a massacre was perpetrated by the Israelite army against aid-seekers
08:17in Khan Junis, with multiple Palestinians killed and injured.
08:21Gaza's Ministry of Health reports at least 60 Palestinians were killed and hundreds more
08:26injured, including dozens critically, after Israeli occupation forces targeted civilians
08:33waiting for desperately needed aid at Al Talia round in Khan Junis this morning.
08:40Medical sources confirmed the rise in death toll and described severe overcrowding in
08:44emergency rooms, intensive care units and operating rooms.
08:49Medical teams are reportedly struggling to treat the influx of casualties due to dangerously
08:54limited supplies of life-saving medicines and equipment.
09:04Thousands of people demonstrated in Finland's capital on Tuesday against the massacre committed
09:09by the State of Israel on the Palestinian people in Gaza.
09:13The demonstrators took to the streets of the capital city Helsinki, demanding an immediate
09:18end to the Zionist aggressions in the occupied territories of the Gaza Strip.
09:23During the event, the protesters waved to Palestinian flags and chanted slogans in support of the
09:29people in Gaza and against the Israeli genocide.
09:32The rallies take place in the midst of the escalation of aggressions that Tel Aviv is carrying out against the countries of the region with the support of Western powers.
09:47The citizens in England shut down the Lockheed Martin U.S. arms factory to demand the company
09:55to stop arming the Israeli regime.
09:58Dozens of English people took part in the initiative as part of their solidarity with the Palestinian
10:03people.
10:04The U.S. company is known for manufacturing the F-35 warplanes that the occupation forces used
10:11to bomb the Gaza Strip.
10:19On Monday, citizens gathered in the district of Kuz Uzkodar in Turkey to express their strong
10:25rejection of the Israeli government's genocidal policies against the Gaza Strip.
10:30The event was organized by six political parties ranging from the left to the right, in which
10:36the Turkish speakers urged the Turkish government to take a stronger stance against the genocide
10:40of the Palestinians and Israeli aggression towards Iran.
10:44Attendees proposed the creation of a peace force to break the siege in Gaza, while others
10:50demand that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan not only criticize Netanyahu, but also confront
10:56the U.S. President Donald Trump.
11:09We must stop this war.
11:11We have to speak to them in a language they understand, because in the long run they will
11:14attack us too.
11:17Israel will not leave us alone, nor will its allies, the United States and the United Kingdom,
11:21which are like a single nation.
11:23We are here to support Gaza.
11:25We are supporting Al-Quds and Gaza.
11:27We will always be here.
11:29We will live without freedom, until they are free.
11:32And I am sure that we will see their liberation.
11:36The government of the Bolivar Republic of Venezuela called for the cessation of the Israeli occupation
11:42during the United Nations General Assembly session.
11:45On his keynote address, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister Ivan Hill denounced the complicity of the
11:50Trump administration with the actions of Israel.
11:54The senior diplomat grounded such claim in the fact that, at least in the United Nations
11:59Security Council meeting on June 4, 2025, Washington captured a non-member country's proposal to
12:07stop immediately the ongoing genocide in the Palestinian territory.
12:11Minister Fong shared that the U.S. veto undermines peace, security and stability in the Middle East region, giving the Israeli regime the opportunity to maintain its campaign of violence in the occupied territories of the Palestinian people.
12:26President, the situation on the ground is beyond critical.
12:37The conditions for millions continue to deteriorate day on day.
12:42We renew our most serious concern about the catastrophic consequences, including in the humanitarian domain, resulting from the ongoing brutal Israeli military operation
12:54and the crimes committed to date by the occupying power against the Palestinian people.
12:59In the Gaza Strip, we are witnessing what can only be described as a collapse of the most basic norms of international law and international humanitarian law.
13:12Over 55,000 Palestinians, the vast majority of them civilians, including women and thousands of children, have been killed.
13:20In Venezuela, 135 migrants arrived after being deported from the United States as part of the Back to the Homeland Plan promoted by the national government.
13:30The 33rd flight of the humanitarian plan arrived at Maiketia Airport, carrying mostly children.
13:37Thanks to the government's diplomacy, Venezuelans, who have been victims of U.S. anti-migration laws, continue to arrive.
13:44They are being assisted by a deployment of security forces who provide them with comprehensive care and where their human and civil rights are guaranteed and respected.
13:56The Bolivarian government and the people continue to denounce the situation in order to bring back the more than 250 Venezuelans who are being held hostage in El Salvador.
14:14Indonesian authorities raised the eruption alert to the highest level following Lucky Lucky volcano unleashed 10,000 meters of thick gray clouds on Tuesday afternoon.
14:34As precautionary measure, officials warned that the danger area could broaden 8 kilometers from its crater.
14:41Indonesian Geology Agency has reported 50 volcanic activities in just two hours.
14:46The ashes from Lucky Lucky volcano expanded into a mushroom-shaped ash that could be noticed from the cities located 90 to 150 kilometers from its epicenter, Mount Lowotobi.
15:01In this context, authorities said no casualties had been reported so far.
15:06However, they urged residents to be vigilant about torrential rains, which could trigger lava flows in rivers coming from the volcano.
15:20Thailand health authorities reported an increase in COVID-19 cases so far in 2025.
15:27The Public Health Ministry recorded an estimated 76,161 infections and more than 100 deaths between May 24 and June 14.
15:39The cities of Bangkok, Shaumburi and Chiang Mai have the highest number of infections exceeding the figures for seasonal influenza.

17:25Welcome back to From the South.
17:26An Argentinian federal judge ordered Tuesday the house arrest of former President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner,
17:33keeping her from the obligation to appear before the Commodore P courts Wednesday to comply with her six-year prison sentence.
17:40The judge's ruling establishes a series of restrictions for the former president, such as the use of an electronic ankle,
17:47and that she must refrain from adopting behaviors that may disturb the tranquility of the neighborhood and or alter the peaceful coexistence of its inhabitants.
17:58The decision only allows the access to Fernández's home without judicial permission to family members and the lawyers who represent her.
18:07The restrictions also limit the popular demonstrations that have been taking place in front of Fernández's home.
18:13The Colombian Senate plenary session resumes this Tuesday with a fourth and final debate on labor reform, with 12 articles still pending discussion.
18:27The Senate has approved 62 articles of the bill so far, with 12 remaining, including the most sensitive ones relating to hiring, working hours, microbusinesses and social security.
18:40Meanwhile, workers are demanding that the parliamentarians stop legislating behind the people's back and pondering to the corporate class in the final debate on this reform, otherwise they will take to the streets for a popular vote.
18:55Colombian President Gustavo Petro assured that an agreement on labor reform with the Senate will be based on not backtracking on the consensus reached in the House of Representatives.
19:07With Bolivar Square in the capital as the backdrop, the country's labor unions and social organizations held a national rally demanding improvements in labor policies for workers who are being harmed by a reform agreed upon by legislators from the opposition parties, currently being processed in the Senate.
19:34In general, the characteristic of this Senate and its majority benches of the traditional parties has been to legislate behind the back of the Colombian people.
19:46And today it has the opportunity to ensure that those 19 articles and what the government has proposed as red lines and more than red lines, non-negotiable aspects negotiable because they are the heritage of the Colombian trade union movement of workers and we do not want crumbs, we do not want a labor reform that is piecemeal.
20:05Workers discontent at the possibility that their rights will not be recognized has led them to mobilize and make their demands visible in the face of what they consider to be a counter reform by pro-business legislators.
20:1879% of the articles have already been approved, with the pending points for discussion representing the most critical issues such as the night work regime, exceptions for micro-enterprises remuneration for mandatory days off, and apprenticeship contracts, among other issues that workers are calling for close attention.
20:36There are three absolutely unacceptable proposals that have been put forward by the oligarchy parties in the Senate plenary session.
20:51Which is the hourly contract that ends job security even though another article states that indefinite contracts will be the norm the social protection floors that end the minimum wage level.
21:04Which we do not agree with, and the weekly working hours of four for three, four days of work for three days of rest, which implies exhausting 11 hour working days and which eliminates overtime.
21:20While inside the congress members of parliament began the plenary session after 1 pm and addressed the agenda related to the vote and discussion of the articles that complete the labor counter reform expectations were growing outside.
21:40And both workers and political sectors of the coalition were joining the alternative of a popular consultation as a way to secure labor rights in the face of the possible approval of an article that blurs the essence of the reform that was initially proposed.
21:55As of today, with only a few hours to go the card is more or less cut although the people continue to pressure.
22:03Here is a very important rally of young people and workers who have come to hold a sit-in, and it is happening all over the country.
22:09The president's firmness in putting the popular consultation on the horizon I think explains what is happening there.
22:16Workers and other sectors that join these activities demand that parliamentarians stop legislating behind the people's backs and bowing to the business class in the final debate on this reform.
22:31Otherwise, they will take to the streets for a popular consultation.
22:38In other information, the Banamanian government arrested about 34 people during protests against the social security reform in the province of Bogas del Toro.
22:49Security authorities stated that the arrests were made as part of Operation Omega, which aims to curb protests against the government of President José Raúl Molina.
23:01The government specified that 24 of those arrested will be handed over to the public prosecutor's office.
23:07The remaining 10 will be brought before justice of the peace.
23:11During the operation, authorities used tear gas to repress protesters in order to open 19 points in the province of Bogas del Toro, which were blocked as a measure to demand the repel of the social security reform.
23:33In Panama, trade unions and social movements announced new protests against the social security law.
23:39Trade unions announced that this Wednesday, June 18, there will be rallies starting at noon local time in different parts of the country.
23:47In addition, they invited people to a popular march this Friday from Urraka Park in Panama City to the area near the parliament in solidarity with the people of Bogas del Toro and Ariame, victims of the use of police force.
24:01For their part, they reported that due to the attacks by air, sea and land, more likely military operations, there are several injured, some seriously.
