00:00Let's get to the National League East, where we have three teams that are very close in terms of
00:03odds, Tom, to win the division. The Mets, the Phillies, and the Braves. Mets at plus 145,
00:08Phillies at plus 180, Braves at plus 220. The story, of course, of the offseason,
00:14not necessarily the Phillies or Braves. It was the Mets who determined that it was time to
00:19not rebuild, but reshape the team by moving Nimmo and moving McNeil and saying farewell
00:26to Pete Alonso and Edwin Diaz. Right. I don't think this was a great offseason for the Mets.
00:34You know, losing Pete Alonso is a huge loss. Bringing in Polanco, who's never played first
00:40base and is now going to play first base, the power's just not going to be there. You miss
00:45out on Kyle Tucker, and then you have to pivot to Bo Bichette, which I think is a good signing
00:48for him. Objectively, in a bubble, getting Bo Bichette onto a team is always going to be a good
00:52thing. But to me, the issue is that when Steve Cohen took over, the mentality and the mindset
00:59was like, oh, the Mets are not going to be the little brother to the Yankees anymore. The Mets
01:04are going to go all in. The Mets are going to spend this money. And then when you lose out
01:07on Pete
01:08Alonso because you don't match his contract or you lose out on Kyle Tucker, what happened to the
01:12mentality of we're going to go all chips to the center? So seeing the Mets take these half steps
01:17where they lose Pete Alonso and they lose Kyle Tucker, but then they get Bo Bichette and they make some
01:21other small rooms here. To me, it just seems like they're not on the same page of what the mentality
01:25of the fans think that Steve Cohen wants to do and what he's actually going to do. To me, the
01:29Mets
01:30seem like a good team, not a great team. I have far more interest in backing the Braves this season
01:34than any team in the NL East.
