00:00The good news is that we have had now about eight projects that may come on stream in 2027-28
00:07and that will return Trinidad and Tobago to its optimal capacity.
00:12And that augurs well for our own industrial development.
00:16But that will also help in the sense that the people of Guyana, the government of Guyana,
00:22could look at Trinidad and Tobago as a logistical marine hub for transmission of gas,
00:28for refining crude.
00:30Dr. Munilal said the anticipated increase in capacity could strengthen the country's industrial base.
00:36If we can refine it in a context where we have a massive amount of oil from Guyana
00:42and the dynamics have changed somewhat for Venezuela,
00:47that Venezuelan crude might be available as well.
00:50One can only imagine if we really restart a refinery in Trinidad,
00:54where we can supply Guyana, Serena and Trinidad, but also the rest of the CARICOM area.
01:00The energy minister reiterated progress on cross-border gas developments,
01:04saying major operators have signalled readiness to advance projects.
01:09What is really remarkable for us and really promising is that the two major operators in Trinidad
01:15for across border gas phase, Shell and BP, and both have been named on those licenses
01:21as getting the green light to proceed with their gas projects.
01:25So that will bring Coquina, Loran and the Dragon.
01:30Yes, so with those, I mean, and we have the data for each,
01:33but with those type of projects coming to market by 2027-28,
01:39Trinidad and Tobago looks like we're in a good place.
01:41During a panel discussion, Guyana's Minister of Natural Resources, Vikram Barrett said,
01:47Trinidad and Tobago's long history in the energy sector provides valuable expertise
01:52that neighboring producers could draw on as regional cooperation expands.
01:57Trinidad has been in the oil and gas sector for probably over 100 years.
02:02So with that comes a lot of experience. It comes with a lot of infrastructure that's already built out,
02:10a lot of capacity that they would have in country.
02:14And that, I believe, is something that Guyana and Suriname could draw on from Trinidad, their experience.
