00:01Hello there. It's week eight and our six remaining potters are sculpting a body in motion so naturally I am
00:10here at hand to give them some artistic inspiration. Princess, princess, paint this.
00:15La, la, la, la, la, la. La. La, la la, la, la, la. La. Let's have a look. OK. Oh
00:29that is wonderful. Welcome to the Great Pottery Throwdown. Hang it in the loo br. Or the loo. Actually it
00:38would work really well in the loo. The downstairs loo. That would be great. Thank you.
00:42Last time, the potters channelled their inner florist with pottery posies.
00:48Buttercups, now.
00:50They're like rustic chalk.
00:51And while Kayleigh's attention to detail secured her, her second potter of the week.
00:56Absolutely amazing.
00:58Bill and Finn struggled.
01:00But it was Emily's wilting fox loves.
01:03Oh, just broke it.
01:06That meant she became the latest potter to leave the competition.
01:10It's been so much fun.
01:11And now, only six remain.
01:24In the spinning world of makers, we're all in the room to make it.
01:31So just start up the fire, it's down to the wire.
01:43It's quarterfinals day at Gladstone and the competition is hotting up.
01:48I've only ever done sculpture once and that was...
01:50Was that here?
01:51...Animal Raku week.
01:51Oh, wow!
01:53Court of Islands.
01:54It's excited, isn't it?
01:55It just feels quite serious.
02:00Yay!
02:00Good luck, everyone.
02:02I'm quite excited for this week's challenge.
02:06A bit nervous, because the reality is, this could be my last week.
02:09Who knows, but I want to enjoy it.
02:11Calm breaths.
02:13Cool, calm and collected.
02:14This is a tough week, actually.
02:16They're very, very personal makes.
02:18I think there might be a few tears today.
02:29Welcome back, Potters, and a huge congratulations for making it to the quarterfinal.
02:36Well done!
02:39Now, for your main make challenge this week, the judges would like you to sculpt a body in motion
02:45and it will be fired in a brick kiln in the courtyard.
02:49Now, Keith, any advice?
02:52We want you to sculpt a statement piece that's personal to you,
02:56capturing the fluidity and the flow of your own body's movements.
03:00Now, this can be realistic or abstract or both, but be bold, be brave.
03:05Go for it.
03:07Rich, anything to add?
03:08Your sculptures will be sawdust-fied in individual brick kilns built by yourselves.
03:14You'll wrap combustibles around your sculptures,
03:17so really give yourself a suitable blank canvas for those beautiful smoke effects.
03:21All right then, Potters, you have been given seven hours to make and refine your sculpture
03:28and your time starts now.
03:31Potters, get potting!
03:33It's going to be a crazy day.
03:35Seven hours to make a clay model of myself.
03:38So, yeah, it's going to be fun.
03:39For their most personal artistic challenge to date,
03:43our Potters have 18 kilograms of clay with which to sculpt themselves.
03:47Never drawn myself, never sculpted myself, no.
03:50I don't think I can remember doing a self-portrait ever, really.
03:53You asked me to paint myself, no problem.
03:55Like this.
03:58You can only go one or two ways, hey?
04:02So, Rich, here we are, week eight, quarter-finals.
04:05The quarter-finals?
04:06It's come round really quickly, hasn't it?
04:07Where has the time gone?
04:09We've asked our Potters to make a sculptural self-portrait
04:12that tells us something about them,
04:15an experience from their life, something from their childhood.
04:17It's going to be interesting to see how brave they want to be with that.
04:21Yeah, and they might choose to make something realistic or it might be abstract,
04:24but it's about capturing in the clay a gesture
04:27that gives energy and gives life to the sculpture.
04:30Yeah, absolutely.
04:31It's important how they build them.
04:33They could use slabs, coils, a bit of both.
04:36It's entirely up to them how they do this.
04:38They might choose to put slabs over a former,
04:40which would allow them to make those shapes rapidly,
04:43but they need to consider how they're going to get formers out
04:46without doing fundamental damage to the structure.
04:49The making has to be sound.
04:51Yeah, no, it does, and finishes everything.
04:54Definitely.
04:55If they're not beautifully finished,
04:56they won't get those lovely, subtle, beautiful smoke effects
05:00that we're looking for.
05:01And, of course, this will all be done
05:02in a sawdust firing out in the yard.
05:05Yes!
05:05Yes!
05:06I love these alternative firings.
05:09Literally, the whole process is in their control.
05:11It's a toughie.
05:12Yeah, and it is week eight.
05:14It's the quarterfinals.
05:15We're looking for them to push themselves.
05:20Hello, Kayleigh.
05:22Hi, you're right.
05:23Tell us about your design.
05:24It's going to be very, very abstract,
05:26which is very, very different for me.
05:28Yeah.
05:28It makes me feel a bit bleh.
05:30So this is kind of the legs, the lower part, back.
05:33The head's even kind of shoulders.
05:35I'm not a confident person,
05:37and this is trying to encourage me
05:39to be more brave and more free.
05:42Kayleigh's self-portrait will be made in parts,
05:45carefully shaped using formers,
05:47and her sculpture will physically move
05:49to represent her body in motion.
05:51The idea is that it can stand on different points
05:55and actually move.
05:57So it keeps on rolling and moving.
05:59The more I kind of grow and get a braver,
06:01which I feel like I am doing here.
06:03Yeah.
06:04It's going to be tricky getting those points of balance.
06:07Yes.
06:07But I thought, if there's ever a chance
06:09to try something like this, it has to be now.
06:12Best of luck, Kayleigh.
06:13Thanks, guys.
06:15Kayleigh isn't the only potter attempting
06:18an ambitious abstract representation of themselves.
06:21Personally, I find it a bit easier
06:24working in an abstract world.
06:25I feel like I could be more free.
06:28Naveed's sculpture will depict his adult body
06:31protecting his inner child,
06:32while raising his daughters aloft
06:34and rocks of different sizes
06:36will celebrate the women in his life.
06:39Is this kind of former for the main body?
06:42Yeah, it is.
06:42It's going to be substantial.
06:43It is a self-portrait, isn't it?
06:46So how are you planning on getting this mass out?
06:48There's a few balloons in there,
06:50so I'll pop the balloons,
06:51I'll just pull them out
06:52and hopefully it'll stay upright.
06:54Because that is my only way in,
06:55is through the bottom.
06:56I don't want to start cutting things apart.
06:57Well, look, good luck with it all.
06:59Yeah.
06:59Cheers, Naby.
07:00Good luck.
07:00Cheers.
07:04The potters are relying on formers
07:07of one variety or another
07:08to support their sculptures.
07:10When you're sculpting to a bigger size,
07:12there's more clay,
07:13it's more heavy,
07:14there's more risk of slumping.
07:15So I've got my former in two pieces.
07:18All except for Anne Harrod,
07:20who is taking a different approach.
07:22Coiling it all, yeah.
07:26Formers for me,
07:27it's almost like a safety blanket,
07:28because obviously that's the thing
07:30that would help keep it upright.
07:32So I'm coiling
07:33because I want to get the fluidity of the movement.
07:35That's the whole point of it.
07:37Based on a yoga pose,
07:39Anne Harrod's self-portrait
07:40will have pinch pot arms
07:42and stretch marks
07:43carved into the surface of the clay.
07:45I see that you've lost your arms.
07:47My arms and my head and my feet.
07:49It's taken away the things
07:51that I felt were acceptable
07:53to other people when I was growing up.
07:55So my face,
07:56always being told I was pretty.
07:58My hands,
07:59I've always been able to make things
08:00and it's just the rest of me,
08:01which I always felt
08:03was like unacceptable
08:04to other people.
08:06So that is what that is.
08:07Oh, don't,
08:08I'm going to start crying.
08:08I don't want to start crying.
08:10I don't want you to cry.
08:11As if this isn't a strong,
08:14fully, wonderful shape.
08:15Exactly.
08:16I love it.
08:17Oh, thank you.
08:20While Anne Harrod
08:21is coiling her entire sculpture,
08:23Elham is also using the technique
08:25for one specific area
08:26of her body in motion.
08:28I'm going to coil shoulders and head
08:30and hopefully I can get all my little details
08:33and I think that's what's going to really bring
08:34my sculpture to life this week.
08:37Elham's realistic self-portrait
08:39will depict her pregnant form
08:41and represent the physical
08:42and emotional burden of motherhood.
08:45My sculpture is me
08:46carrying my second child.
08:48It's like a period of my life
08:49that was...
08:52Are you OK?
08:54Let me just have a minute
08:55to just compose.
08:59Sorry, guys.
09:01It's all right.
09:01Not at all.
09:02It was a really, really traumatic C-section.
09:04I struggled postnatally a lot
09:06and I think it was a real shock to me
09:08because as a midwife
09:10I thought,
09:11oh, God, I know what I'm doing.
09:12I've got it all together.
09:13And it just,
09:13it hit me like a ton of bricks.
09:15And so I'm having my head tilted.
09:18You know that stance that you do
09:19when you have a real strong gust of wind
09:21and then you're pushing through it
09:22and it's sort of to emulate
09:24that sort of pushing through
09:25whatever's coming at you.
09:26Wow.
09:27Goodness.
09:27It feels like it's a kind of
09:28a really positive
09:30venting of all of that emotion
09:31but like a positive step forward.
09:34Yeah, it really is.
09:34Well, look, good luck with it all.
09:35Yeah.
09:36Wonderful.
09:38Like Elham,
09:40Bill is also reflecting
09:41on a difficult time in his life.
09:44This was sort of me
09:45in my 12, 13-year-old state
09:46of just trying to get free life
09:48going from primary school
09:49to secondary school.
09:50I was very autistic
09:51and trying to connect to people
09:52was really hard
09:54and also I could barely read and write.
09:56If I couldn't do the work
09:57I used to put
09:58I can't do it
09:59in the textbooks.
10:01Well, something beautiful
10:02has come out of that awful time then
10:03because this is absolutely gorgeous.
10:06Bill's seated figure
10:07will have a rough inner texture
10:09reflecting his anxieties
10:11and insecurities
10:12while a highly burnished
10:13outer surface
10:14will act as a shield
10:15deflecting negative comments
10:17aimed at his younger self.
10:18How are you going to decorate it?
10:20I've got all my combustibles
10:22going on the outside.
10:23Any smelly ones?
10:25Cat food.
10:29Are you...
10:30Mad, yes.
10:31No, are you determined
10:33to kill me off?
10:35I am about to assume
10:36that position over there.
10:38While Bill is looking
10:40for perfect smoke effects
10:42with his cat food combustibles
10:43Hello, Finn.
10:44Finn is also experimenting
10:46with his decoration.
10:47These are based on my tattoos.
10:49Wow.
10:50Most of me is covered
10:51so I've stitched
10:53onto this water-soluble fabric
10:54so the plan is
10:55to dissolve all this away
10:56it will leave the stitch
10:57almost like a lace
10:58and then I want to
10:59put oxides onto these
11:01and I'm hoping
11:01that by laying those
11:02over elements of this
11:03that the oxide
11:04will retain some sort of pattern.
11:06Beautiful.
11:07Finn's sculpture
11:08will represent
11:09the light and dark aspects
11:11of being neurodivergent
11:12with smooth and textured surfaces
11:14highlighting the calm
11:15and chaotic elements
11:17of his life.
11:18I have an ADHD
11:19my brain is constantly
11:21whirring around
11:22sort of a million miles an hour
11:23it's just that idea
11:24of me coming out
11:25of the chaos
11:26and diving back
11:27into it as well
11:28you know
11:28I'm most creative
11:30when I'm in that
11:30kind of slightly chaotic state
11:32but it can also mean
11:33that I can't do my laundry
11:36so I am a nightmare
11:37to live with
11:37absolute nightmare
11:42potters you're halfway through
11:44thank you
11:45thanks
11:45oh stop it
11:48now that the main bodies
11:50of their sculptures
11:51have begun to firm up
11:53going without performers now
11:54so I know that it's holding itself up
11:56the potters can begin
11:57to add arms
11:58legs and heads
12:00I want it resting on here
12:01I kind of want it pointing
12:02backwards slightly as well
12:04into the chaos
12:05I'm going to tilt the head down
12:07to show strain
12:08on the shoulders
12:10she's got arms
12:11she's got arms
12:12oh my god
12:14I feel like I can breathe
12:15a little bit
12:16this could completely
12:17snap off here
12:18if I'm not careful
12:19I'm just using paper
12:21to kind of keep that shape
12:24while Kayleigh is adding
12:25even more support
12:26to her structure
12:27for Bill
12:29and Naveed
12:31oh there goes the balloon
12:33the time has come
12:34to remove their formers
12:36I feel a little bit worried
12:38about the view
12:39because it is a substantial object
12:41will it be dry enough
12:42to support its own weight
12:44you know there's every possibility
12:45the form could be altered
12:46as all of that is coming out
12:47yeah absolutely
12:49in a way similar to Bill
12:51yeah
12:51cutting away the back
12:53you're putting extra stress
12:54on that whole form
12:55last time I did this
12:57the whole thing fell apart
12:59I sort of clumped
13:00on itself
13:01so I'm hoping
13:02it's not going to do
13:03the same thing
13:12it's looking okay
13:13I'm going to leave it
13:14for a bit
13:14just to firm up again
13:16but while it's on its side
13:17I can manipulate
13:19its bum a bit more
13:24cause some stress to it
13:26so I think what I'll do
13:28is see if it stands
13:29by itself
13:31just like that clay's dry enough
13:33yeah cause there's a lot of white
13:40there's no way it's going to hold
13:42oh no
13:43trying to dry the base
13:45cause it's too wet
13:47to take it
13:47it'll just buckle
13:48quite likely there'll be cracks
13:50appearing in the bisque fire
13:57potters one hour remaining
13:59that's one hour remaining
14:00god
14:01go so quick
14:03it's alright
14:04I think it's alright
14:05I've saved it
14:06the judges are expecting the potters
14:09to express themselves
14:10with their self-portraits
14:11this part is the head
14:13with all my bubbling thoughts
14:16manipulating energy and movement
14:18into the clay
14:19I think once the scarf goes on
14:21you'll really feel that movement
14:23where it's been blown back
14:25just adding texture
14:28creating some energy and movement
14:30sort of torn pieces of clay
14:33cause as it dries a little bit
14:34you get gnarly edges
14:35chaos isn't smooth is it
14:39there she is looking mighty
14:40even though there's no head
14:42in it
14:43you know that there's a big smile
14:45on that face
14:45usually it's just a joyful pose
14:47it's really joyful
14:49it's part of like a yoga flow
14:51and it's really good for your backs
14:52oh it's really good for your backs
14:53apparently everybody should do it
14:55we all need to get in the line
14:55and do it
14:56let's do it
14:57I think that would be really good
14:58genuinely let's do it
14:59follow Anne Harrod
15:01so you're kind of like
15:02you're going down
15:03so then come up
15:04and stretch
15:05and then
15:09and then you bring it
15:10and then you can bring it back
15:10oh well done
15:12I could hear all your spines
15:14clicking from up here
15:15that was good
15:16that was lovely
15:20potters
15:20that's half an hour left
15:21half an hour
15:23with their sculptures fully assembled
15:25how are we looking
15:26are we okay
15:27the potters must create
15:29perfectly burnished surfaces
15:31to give themselves the best chance
15:32of achieving smoke effects
15:34with their combustibles
15:36when you burn it
15:37you get like a really smooth
15:39shiny finish
15:40it's almost like you've glazed it
15:41when you've not
15:42I want it to be soft
15:44I want it to feel like
15:45you can touch it
15:46and the potters are throwing
15:48everything and the kitchen sink
15:49at it
15:50I've got a spoon
15:51I've got a plastic bag
15:53I've got this kind of
15:54metal ball tool
15:56you can use your finger as well
15:58yeah
15:59have you seen these
16:00you do like the whole thing
16:01like lift in the face
16:02lift in the face
16:03and it drains the toxins
16:04but we're not here for that
16:06I brought it for burnishing
16:11potters you've 10 minutes left
16:13burnish like mad
16:15I'm burnishing
16:16like my life depends
16:18I know it's meant to be shiny
16:19but how shiny are we talking
16:20what's shiny
16:22it's actually really nice
16:25does it roll
16:26I haven't tried it
16:27but I can't see white wooden
16:28so I've got those points
16:29how many ways do you need to roll
16:31exactly right
16:32I'm going to carve in
16:34like where my stretch marks are
16:35this is good
16:37or I've really destroyed this
16:40I love her
16:41regardless of what happens
16:43you need to sit down
16:44it's tiring
16:49stress burnish
16:50I think I need a break
16:52from burnishing after this
16:53might do it
16:54I don't know
16:54about 10 years time
16:55or something
16:57potters
16:58final minute
16:59oh final minute
17:00oh no
17:01and everything needs to be
17:02in the drying room
17:03not quite as dry as I want it to be
17:06she looks marvellous
17:07thank you
17:09come on guys
17:10I'm worried about it slumping
17:12I'm not sure if it'll stand
17:13thank you
17:16oh my goodness
17:17pregnant woman coming
17:19everybody out of the way
17:21Kayleigh hurry up please
17:22the top's not dry
17:24guys come on
17:26oh Kayleigh
17:27please be okay
17:28please be okay
17:28she's good
17:29I'm so sorry

17:48potters dismissed
17:49thank you
17:50thank you
17:51got biceps now
17:52I really enjoyed that one
17:55really really enjoyed it
17:56I'm hoping that
17:57the kiln looks after it
17:59I was so worried
17:59it would kind of sag
18:00so I put it on its side
18:01I'm pretty sure
18:02I can definitely flip it
18:03so hopefully it dries alright
18:05I'm really pleased that
18:07I've managed to get through it
18:08but it was stressful for the sculpture
18:10so I will be losing some sleep over it
18:21oh no it is
18:22oh dear
18:23oh it is it's throwing
18:24oh blimey neck
18:25while their body in motion sculptures
18:28are being bisque fired
18:29the potters now face
18:30a mystery challenge
18:33oh
18:35knees out
18:36look at that
18:37you never have
18:38a pair of knees
18:40cause so much delight
18:42welcome back potters
18:44to your second challenge
18:45and this week
18:46it is a throw down
18:48you are making a pot
18:50with an emphasis
18:51on body parts
18:53like this
18:55rich
18:56take the wheel
18:57and please explain
18:58right
19:00you've got three kilos of clay
19:02what we have
19:03is a pot
19:04which has
19:05a foot
19:05into a belly
19:06into a waist
19:08and then
19:09a shoulder
19:10into a neck
19:12and then a lip
19:13at the top
19:14and a couple of arms
19:15just to add that bit of attitude
19:19so
19:19I'm just going to centre this
19:22and it's really essential
19:23that you cone this
19:24a couple of times
19:25because
19:27you're going to be stretching
19:28that clay out
19:28a long way
19:30making quite a tall
19:31narrow cylinder
19:33so I'm just going to
19:34open this up now
19:37so I'm just using
19:38my fingertips
19:39to form a base
19:40you want it about
19:41a centimetre thick
19:42if you've got a base
19:43that's too thick
19:45then obviously
19:45that clay isn't going to
19:46be deposited into the walls
19:47so you'll lose height
19:49I'm just going to start
19:50moving that clay up
19:51upwards
19:53all the while
19:54just keeping control
19:55of that cylinder
19:57and then I'm going to
19:58go in with my knuckle
20:04and you'll notice
20:05this is a bit taller
20:06than that shape is there
20:07and that's because
20:08as I put the form in
20:09it'll start to lose height
20:11so if you haven't created
20:12enough height in the cylinder
20:13you'll end up with
20:14a very squat pot
20:16I'm going to switch
20:17to a credit card now
20:19so I'm just going to
20:20start to belly this
20:21shape out at the base
20:24I'm putting a flex in
20:25with the card
20:26and I'm just using
20:27my fingers on the inside
20:28to match that shape
20:31and then I'm going to start
20:32bellying out this top section
20:35but instead of going all
20:36the way into a full belly
20:37I'm going to stop
20:39because we're going to
20:40have a shoulder here
20:41I'm just going to
20:42collar this top in a little
20:44bit
20:45setting the width of the neck
20:47and then pull this clay
20:49upwards
20:50and throwing that shape
20:51into a neck
20:55gently put in
20:57a detail for the lip
20:58at the top
21:00I'm then going to use
21:01the credit card
21:01to just trim the base
21:02nice neat clean foot
21:05so that's kind of
21:06the main body
21:06we're going to move on
21:08to the arms
21:09or handles
21:11as we as potters
21:12generally call them
21:12you've got a bag tie
21:14you want to divide it
21:15into a third
21:16and at that point
21:17you're going to bend it
21:19and bend it
21:21right the way round
21:22on itself
21:22like this
21:23and then I'm just going
21:25to twist that around
21:26so you end up with
21:28a little kind of
21:29mouse's coat hanger
21:30and then pull it through
21:32in one motion
21:34like that
21:36curve it round
21:38into shape
21:40and you'll have your handle
21:41bit of cross hatching
21:44just put a bit of slit
21:46on
21:46and give it a stick
21:47and a wiggle
21:49good sticking
21:50is about the wiggle
21:52for the other side
21:53it's really important
21:54that you eye in
21:56where you've put
21:57the first one
21:57because I will be checking
21:59how symmetrical
22:01they are
22:01and there you go
22:03great
22:04thank you very much
22:05all right
22:06okay now this is going
22:08to be judge blind
22:09so you know
22:09what that means
22:10get out of here
22:11have good luck
22:12enjoy it
22:14potters
22:14you have been given
22:1625 minutes
22:18to throw your pot
22:19with an emphasis
22:20on body parts
22:20and your time
22:21starts
22:22and now
22:22remove the hessian
22:25go
22:27don't remember
22:28everything Rich said
22:29I'm sure it'll come back
22:30to me
22:31the main point
22:32is to make sure
22:32you've got that
22:33curve going out
22:34and in and back out
22:35again
22:36this is going to be
22:37a challenge
22:37hardest thing is going
22:38to be getting it done
22:39in 25 minutes
22:41oh my gosh
22:42it's very hard work
22:45it's really stiff
22:48trying to centre it
22:49it does feel quite tough
22:50we need to cone it
22:52up and down
22:53loosen it up a little bit
22:54and then it will make
22:55pulling the walls
22:55easier
22:58oh it's quite hard
22:59actually to pull out
23:01one of the hardest
23:02things is just going
23:02to be getting the height
23:03on this
23:04getting the clay up
23:05from the bottom
23:06nobody else has gotten
23:07it up as quick as you
23:09haven't they
23:09no you're the first one
23:11I can't remember
23:12the order of stuff
23:13so I'm just
23:15looking at it
23:15and going on intuition
23:18I'm not happy
23:19I've got loads of clay
23:20in the base
23:21I need more height
23:22this is far too little
23:23I've learnt in these
23:24second challenges
23:25don't relax
23:26be scared and don't relax
23:28okay cool
23:30boo
23:31thanks
23:33Potter's you're
23:34halfway through
23:35oh god
23:36you alright Kayleigh
23:37you got this
23:39I haven't
23:40yes you have
23:41look how wobbly that is
23:43we shall fix
23:45I think I'm doing okay
23:46kind of got the shape
23:47I haven't quite done it
23:48the way that he was asking
23:49oh credit card
23:52a little bit of shape
23:53probably not the right shape
23:56I have no idea
23:58what kind of body this is
23:59we're open to all shapes and sizes
24:05it's definitely voluptuous
24:07what a lovely lady
24:09I mean I've not seen many people
24:11shape like this
24:12I'm just getting the neck up
24:14a little bit higher
24:14and then form that lip
24:16at the very top
24:18it's just not liking it
24:20it's kind of fighting
24:21with me at the minute
24:22I'm going to move on
24:24because I need handles
24:26Rich always makes this look
24:27so easy
24:29this is terrible
24:30I can't do it
24:33is it from behind
24:34or the front
24:34I've never tried this before
24:36but it's really satisfying
24:38it's not a very good handle
24:39is it
24:40I don't know what I'm doing wrong
24:42the handle's probably been
24:43my favourite part
24:44that one's a bit thinner though
24:47I might do one more
24:47for luck
24:49two minutes left
24:50two minutes left
24:51I need to make sure
24:52my handle's not magical
24:54it's very tricky
24:55to get that symmetry going
24:58my handle's on
25:00just giving it a wiggle
25:01wiggle wiggle
25:02get a wiggle on
25:04I've actually turned these
25:06in the wrong way
25:06but never mind
25:07they can just have
25:08the little pleat
25:09on the inside
25:10it's actually alright
25:11I've surprised myself
25:13Harper's final minute
25:16they're not symmetrical
25:18if he said clean it up
25:19did he say clean it up
25:20probably said clean it up
25:223, 2, 1
25:24time's up
25:26step away
25:27wow
25:28well that was fun
25:32Heath and Rich will now judge the potter's body part pots
25:36they will be looking for a perfectly proportioned pot
25:39with a foot, belly, waist, shoulder, neck and lip
25:43with symmetrical handles
25:45and they have no idea
25:46who's belonged to whom
25:48okay so the first one here
25:50it's got some nice height
25:51isn't it
25:51good bit of height
25:52some of that extra foot clay
25:54could have been kind of brought up
25:55into the body
25:56the belly's a bit in isn't it
25:58yeah it's kind of almost got
25:59a bit more of a shoulder
26:00sure
26:01on the bottom curve
26:02rather than that kind of fluidity
26:04yeah
26:04it's a reasonable amount of symmetry
26:06between the handles
26:07yeah
26:08very fun boy
26:08it's definitely got attitude
26:09hasn't it
26:10it's definitely got
26:10yeah
26:11number two
26:12so a little more squat this one
26:15no foot
26:16no foot
26:16it's lacking that foot
26:18and they've perhaps struggled
26:19to kind of collar the top of that clay in enough
26:22to get a really sort of narrow neck
26:24the handles are really lovely
26:25yeah yeah
26:26they've got a lovely curvature to them
26:27just would have been nice
26:28if you've got a little bit more height
26:30out of the clay
26:31yeah
26:31so third one
26:33wow
26:33well that's pretty good
26:34lovely foot
26:36really lovely rounded belly
26:37yeah
26:38a very clearly defined waist
26:39and then a lovely belly at the top
26:41lovely thickness on the lip
26:43and the handles aren't bad either
26:44great handles
26:45yeah
26:45fabulous
26:46so number four
26:47kind of slightly narrower
26:48but very upright
26:50nice and clean around the base
26:52right
26:52the neck could have been a bit more refined
26:54couldn't it
26:54yeah
26:55it just looks like
26:56this pot has run out of clay
26:57by the time it's come to kind of
26:59collaring in a neck
27:00ooh
27:01yeah
27:02I mean lovely lovely
27:04rounded generous belly
27:05really voluptuous
27:06yeah
27:07as much as I like the neck
27:08it could have been a bit longer
27:09yeah
27:10the handles
27:11one slightly smaller than the other
27:13one is slightly wider
27:14but yeah
27:14it's certainly got a charm about it
27:16and finally number six
27:18lovely foot
27:19nice fluidity into that bottom belly
27:21a very clearly defined waist
27:23perhaps if there was just a bit more clay stretched up initially
27:25then this second belly
27:27it could have been a bit broader
27:28yeah
27:29I think
27:30the potter's body part pots will now be ranked
27:33from worst to first
27:35in sixth position
27:38is this one
27:39whose is this
27:40it's a good effort
27:41but yeah
27:42just because you're lacking that foot really
27:44and perhaps a bit more collaring in at the neck
27:46and taller
27:47and a bit taller
27:48Elham is fifth
27:49Naveed is fourth
27:51and Anharad is third
27:52in second position
27:57this one here
27:58whose is this
27:59Finn
27:59really lovely throwing
28:01well done
28:02so in first place
28:04Bill
28:04really well done
28:06thank you
28:07thank you everyone
28:07well done everyone
28:10as usual
28:11you know
28:11bridesmaid to Bill
28:14that was a challenge
28:15I'm not going to lie
28:16but you know
28:17I was first last week
28:18so I can't be too mad
28:20it's great
28:20it's great
28:21I'm going to celebrate
28:21by probably getting a takeaway
28:23I reckon
28:24I'm unsure whether to get like chicken and chips
28:26or something
28:26or like kebab or something
28:28I don't know
28:28I got a sandwich
28:29but I don't think
28:30I don't think that celebrates free enough
28:41it's alternative firing day
28:43for our potter's
28:44body in motion sculptures
28:46fire in the hole
28:49after a 24 hour bisque firing
28:52kiln technician princess
28:54is laying out their pieces
28:55ready for decoration
28:57I keep thinking
28:59stress cracks
29:01it was such a weird shape
29:02I'm just so scared
29:04that it's all cracked
29:05mine looks very low
29:06it could be on its side though Kayleigh
29:08yeah hopefully
29:09might be okay
29:11I had a bit of a stressful time
29:13my piece
29:13so I'm expecting
29:15some sort of cracks
29:16it should be okay
29:17but
29:18after that
29:19famous last words
29:25welcome back potters
29:27now as you can see
29:28your body in motion sculptures
29:29have been bisque fired
29:31and are ready for decoration
29:33and your combustibles
29:35judges
29:35any advice for our potters
29:37well we've only given you oxides
29:39for decoration
29:40not the usual underglazes
29:42this is because the focus
29:43should be on
29:44the fluid forms
29:45and beautiful movement
29:47you've created
29:47Keith
29:48now is the time
29:49to place your organic combustibles
29:52round your sculptures
29:53but think carefully
29:55about the effect
29:56those chosen combustibles
29:58will give you
29:58and factor that in
30:00to your placement
30:01great
30:01alright then potters
30:03you have been given
30:0445 minutes
30:05to decorate
30:06your sculptures
30:07and your time
30:08starts now
30:09remove the hessian
30:14still stay together
30:17oh my god
30:19she still feels nice
30:20that's good
30:21she survived
30:23good lass
30:25there's a couple of
30:27cracks
30:27where I was expecting
30:29it's not great
30:31all okay
30:32Kayleigh
30:33yeah it doesn't stand
30:34the way I wanted it to stand
30:36so I've dried it on its side
30:37and now it's slumped
30:38so now it doesn't stand up
30:41oops
30:42it's what it is
30:43isn't it
30:46to bring their body
30:47in motion sculptures
30:48to life
30:49the potters are using
30:50a range of oxides
30:51I'm starting with
30:53red iron oxide
30:54because I want that flush
30:55of like warm
30:56like red tone
30:57and combustibles
30:58to achieve their desired designs
31:00I've got seaweed
31:02I've got sea algae
31:03I've got some sea kale
31:04I've got coffee grounds
31:06in these tea bags
31:07copper wire
31:08and then I want
31:09the copper to burn
31:10to give me like black inlays
31:12where my stretch marks are
31:15the pieces that I'd stitched
31:17I was going to paint
31:18on some of the oxides
31:19and then those
31:19I'm going to lay
31:20onto the sculpture
31:22the closer the combustibles
31:24are attached
31:24to the surface
31:25of the sculptures
31:26the greater the chance
31:27of producing
31:28the rich smoke effects
31:29and colours
31:30the potters
31:30are hoping for
31:31I've soaked bandages
31:33in Himalayan salt
31:34because they can go pink
31:37I'm hoping
31:37to leave
31:39the marks
31:40of the fern leaves
31:41just like a shadow
31:42while most of the potters
31:44are tying on
31:44their combustibles
31:46Bill has come up
31:47with a sticky alternative
31:49I've got some marmite here
31:50so salt and yeast
31:51great pinky colours
31:53and I might stick
31:54a little bit on this head
31:55so I can stick
31:55my own hair back on
31:56because I've actually
31:57got some of my own hair
31:58in here
31:59just a little bit
32:00you know
32:01just to create
32:01that sort of
32:02little bit of texture
32:06what have you done
32:08what have you done
32:10it's
32:12I too
32:12would be going like that
32:13I've literally
32:14put my own hair
32:15back on him
32:15and what's
32:16this
32:16where's that from
32:17that's my mum
32:21my mum's hair
32:21my mum's hair
32:22I'm sorry
32:24it'll be over soon
32:26one way or the other
32:28oh you smell
32:31potters
32:32you're halfway through
32:33that's gone so fast
32:35halfway through
32:37tormenting
32:39your self sculptures
32:41what's wrong with it
32:42to achieve areas of light
32:45and shade
32:45some of the potters
32:46are masking parts
32:47of their sculptures
32:48with foil
32:49the foil is to make it
32:50less smoky
32:51in certain areas
32:53that's the plan
32:54I don't want it to be
32:55one plain black blob
32:57wrapped up
32:58the bits
32:59I want to remain white
33:00I'm hoping it'll be
33:01darker at the bottom
33:02and then lighter
33:03at the torso
33:04but yeah
33:05I mean it smells
33:06really bad
33:09bit of lamb's wool
33:10have a little afro
33:11look at that
33:12she looks bloody great
33:13this is so fun
33:15I want the seaweed
33:16to wrap around it
33:17to give extra movement
33:18what a weird thing to do
33:20wrap mouldy bananas
33:21and avocado skins
33:24with a banana
33:25it does look like
33:26a deconstructed patlant
33:27now how do I get
33:28all this to stay on
33:33so cat food
33:33you get like a
33:34peachy orangey colour
33:36smells quite
33:37pungent and fishy
33:38because I chose
33:38the fish one
33:39there's a lot
33:40going on here
33:41look at these
33:41crabs
33:43oh
33:44oh good
33:45there's more
33:45coming out
33:46what the heck
33:47is that
33:48turmeric and
33:49paprika
33:50yeah it'll go
33:51lovely with the crab
33:52gourmand
33:57potters
33:57you've 10 minutes
33:58left
33:59it's time to wrap up
34:00gotta wrap
34:01cat food salt
34:02wrap cat food salt
34:03so it's gonna be like
34:04um
34:05pass the parcel
34:07the tin foil's holding
34:09all the combustibles on
34:10and it should stop all the smoke
34:12permeating straight away
34:13the tin foil will actually melt
34:15but it'll be one of the last things
34:17I am going to wrap it with paper
34:19instead of foil
34:20I just feel like the foil's gonna lock the heat out
34:23one minute left potters
34:26some big paper to wrap
34:28bill can I use your robe
34:30thank you
34:31can I have some robe
34:32yeah
34:32I've got a stink
34:33thank you darling
34:34if in doubt
34:35stick extra in
34:37you hold that
34:38yeah I got it
34:39bill you're always there for me
34:40right at the end
34:43potters that's it
34:44that's it
34:46step away
34:51grab baby bill
34:55right careful everyone
34:56oh my gosh
34:58with their body in motion
34:59sculptures safely wrapped
35:01in their oxides and combustibles
35:02stay
35:03the potters must now use bricks
35:05to hand build a kiln
35:06for the alternative firing
35:08forget teaching
35:09I'm a brickie
35:11it's just trying to make sure
35:12that it's all aligned neatly
35:14and minimal amount of gaps
35:15the kilns will be sawdust fired
35:18so the potters must build chambers
35:20large enough for their sculptures
35:21I think Nav's gonna
35:23probably have the biggest one of us all
35:26yeah
35:28and leave space around them
35:30to pack in sawdust and combustibles
35:32that will burn slowly
35:33to create beautiful smoky effects
35:36I am trying to calculate the space
35:39for the sawdust that I want at the bottom
35:40so I need like a bed of sawdust
35:42sculpture
35:44another bed
35:45and then the kindling
35:46like lasagna
35:48um
35:49I might need to borrow some bricks of sawdust
35:52now that I'm done with my bricks
35:54oh there you go
35:55I don't even have to go far to get them
35:57competition
35:58remember this is a competition
36:02with their kilns constructed
36:04the potters can begin loading them up
36:06some lavender
36:08seaweed
36:09salt
36:09and clothie
36:11so I feel like I'm making some witch's potion
36:13trouble
36:14bubble
36:16foil and trouble
36:19I've poked a hole in the foil
36:20I'm just hoping that some of the smoke can
36:22to get into it
36:23and it'll go slightly darker
36:24then on the bottom half of it
36:27how they pack the kilns
36:28will determine the success
36:30of the sawdust firing
36:31I just wanted to make sure that the sawdust isn't too compact
36:35so it's not going to burn
36:36but not too loose
36:38that it's going to burn really quickly
36:40if it lights too quickly
36:41you're going to not maintain a decent temperature
36:44for the combustibles to take effect
36:47they kind of want a slow burn
36:49to allow all of that smoke
36:51to kind of penetrate the surface of the clay
36:53so that's where that balance of how much combustible material is in the chamber
36:57the size of the chamber
36:59and how much air can get in
37:00is all critical really to getting those good effects
37:02the last thing they want is that fire to go out
37:05halfway down the pack
37:09the sawdust kilns will be lit using kindling
37:12set her off
37:13get the fire going
37:14put the kettle on
37:15and will burn down from the top to the bottom
37:18so I'm just adding a layer of kindling
37:20this will then start burning down through the sawdust
37:22the hotter the kiln stays for longer
37:25the more chance of the combustibles and oxides reacting
37:29hardwoods, softwoods, all in here
37:31the hardwoods last a little longer
37:32but you need those softwoods
37:34because they're the hotter burn
37:35shall we do a little love hat on it?
37:38aww
37:39bring on the fire!
37:44just trying to make sure that
37:46I manage to start a fire across the hole of the top
37:49so it's going to burn evenly
37:50there we go
37:52getting there
37:52isn't that lovely
37:53that's it, you got it
37:55not yet
37:57oh
37:58are we lit?
38:00oh yeah we're good
38:00okay
38:01I need it to catch quickly
38:03because there's a lot of sawdust to burn
38:07as the sawdust and combustibles burn down
38:10the smoke and fumes produced
38:12should sear into the surface of the clay
38:15starting to burn down nicely
38:16hopefully
38:17those combustibles that are underneath the tin foil
38:20should like fume and colour up the clay
38:22if it gets hot enough
38:23we're hoping for around 900 for this
38:26to get the kind of colours and results we want
38:28some reds
38:29maybe some blues if I'm lucky
38:30I'm just taking it all in
38:32it's a really like meaningful piece
38:35there's lots of emotion now that I've put into it
38:37it's like
38:38the end of a difficult era
38:41it's nice
38:45the potters must now seal up their kilns
38:48trapping the smoke in with their sculptures
38:51poor black
38:52we'll see
38:54they won't know if their combustibles have worked their magic
38:57until the morning
38:59another sleepless night of wondering whether it's exploded
39:03but it's kind of a weekly occurrence now isn't it
39:07I'm just so worried
39:08what if the combustibles don't burn
39:10what if I don't get any effect
39:11what if I really messed up
39:12what if it's not good
39:13I don't want the decoration to let it down
39:22it's judgement day
39:23the potter's body in motion sculptures have cooled overnight
39:27and are now ready to be revealed
39:29I don't even know what to expect
39:31will it just be black
39:32will it be covered
39:32I have no idea
39:33I just want to get it out
39:34and give it a hug
39:36I can't wait
39:37I can't wait to open a kiln
39:38I really love this
39:40I really care for it
39:41I do want it to work
39:42excited
39:44terrified
39:44do you know what
39:45it is quite exciting
39:47not knowing what you're going to get
39:48everything in the kitchen sink went in there
39:51so it should be interesting
39:55okay Bill let's go
39:56okay
39:57ready
39:57no
39:58okay
39:59well here we go
40:01okay
40:03he's hairless
40:05oh
40:07wow
40:08oh Bill that's gorgeous mate
40:11wicked
40:13I love in the smoke effect
40:15I love these patternings
40:16and I can't believe
40:17this is yeast extract
40:18oh is that where you put it
40:20that's his shiny head
40:21this is great
40:22it's got character
40:23that's what I wanted
40:24it's just me
40:25it's me all over
40:28okay Kayleigh
40:29here you go
40:29let's do it
40:31oh
40:32oh
40:32oh
40:35I've got some ferns
40:37that looks amazing
40:38yay
40:40beautiful
40:41the fern and leaf is so gorgeous
40:43I'm really chuffed with that
40:44considering it's a complete alien of myself
40:47I look alright
40:57I think it's okay
41:00I just yeah I'm actually I think it's really beautiful the effect I wasn't expecting it
41:04she's lovely
41:06I think I've captured what I wanted to capture I think it's a really powerful sculpture
41:10I just can't believe this happened
41:12I think this is one of the best things I've ever made
41:16oh my gosh
41:18oh my god
41:21I was hoping this would have melted a bit better but it hasn't
41:23oh wow I can see lots of colour
41:25oh those actually have worked
41:27the lace that I made
41:29some of it has actually worked
41:30and I've got some nice pinks and stuff on there
41:32wow
41:33I wish that this little bit here had been darker
41:36but you know
41:37it's kilns isn't it
41:40good so far
41:45let's see
41:46I just want them to be white
41:47okay
41:49it's nice
41:53lovely
41:55what are you thinking?
41:56the oxides haven't sort of
41:58melted
41:58melted yeah
41:59so
41:59not got to the right temperatures
42:01and to do the magic
42:03I was kind of going to love it really
42:05whatever it turned out like
42:09ready?
42:10one
42:10yeah
42:10two
42:11three
42:12yeah
42:13oh
42:14go on and go meet her
42:20what I'm shaking
42:25I mean I love it
42:27all the different effects on it
42:30yeah
42:32oh
42:33full circle moment
42:34full circle moment
42:36yeah
42:36but I love it
42:37I love her
42:39I thought maybe it would just come out completely black
42:42the fact that it's got different shades of grey
42:44and there are reactions that have happened
42:46I am over the moon with it
42:52bloody hell what a process
42:54well done
42:58thanks
42:59thanks
43:04the potter self sculptures are now ready for judging
43:15potters your body in motion sculptures look absolutely fantastic
43:19so let's get on with the judging
43:21and Harold if you could please bring your body in motion sculpture up to the judges
43:35well we asked for a sculpture that incorporated movement and form
43:46that is fantastic
43:48it's fantastic loving
43:50it's absolutely a celebration of you and your body
43:54the stance of the sculpture
43:56it's just saying
43:57here I am
43:58thank you
43:59brilliant
43:59thank you
44:00yeah it's fabulous
44:01it's fabulous in its simplicity
44:02and the beauty is in its simplicity
44:04the contrast between these very black areas and the white areas that you masked
44:09I think works so well
44:10it's just a perfect marrying together of a really well thought out concept and form
44:14and all of the effects that smoke firing can produce
44:17so really well done
44:18thank you
44:19it's incredible
44:20well done Anne Harrod
44:22I love her too
44:22well done
44:23thank you
44:30it's a kind of reflection of not being confident
44:33so I try to be as brave as possible
44:35it wasn't meant to stand like that and the other way
44:38was it that way it was going to
44:39yes that way as well
44:41I wish it was standing
44:42I know
44:43I really wish it was
44:44I rushed at the end and I laid it down
44:46because I was like oh it's so heavy I was scared it would get knocked
44:48I mean as a form it is really quite extraordinary
44:51you've got some lovely smoke effects on there
44:54the fern is great
44:55the placing of it is ideal
44:57it really works well with the shape and the form
44:59thank you
45:00when you look at it
45:01it's abstract but still very human
45:03from every angle
45:04I mean
45:04yeah
45:04that is very human
45:06my kind of knees to my feet tucked in that kind of hidden
45:09the curvature of your back
45:10and you can kind of see all of that
45:12it's just such a shame
45:13it doesn't stand
45:14because I'd love to be able to see it from those angles
45:16I'm glad I did it
45:17even if it didn't quite work
45:18I had the opportunity to do something that brave
45:22and I would regret it if I didn't
45:24completely
45:25well done
45:25cheers thanks guys
45:32the idea is that I am a very chaotic person
45:35and it's just that continual circle of coming out of it and then going back in
45:40well look I mean there's certainly a lot of energy there
45:43and there's a lot of movement
45:45yeah I think actually all of those fins around the edge really add to that sense of movement
45:49you really get a sense of that washing machine
45:52that kind of cyclical nature of what you're describing
45:55and you've got some wonderful marks on here
45:57I mean this pink
45:59yeah what is that?
46:00it was seaweed from home
46:01because it's obviously like in Cornwall there's a lot of tin
46:03so I didn't know whether maybe that's...
46:05a few more from the tin possibly yeah
46:06there are some lovely kind of subtle effects
46:08I'm picking up little bits of the yeah of the flower
46:11yeah
46:12but it almost just feels a bit like it kind of is lacking that light and shade somehow
46:16but yeah it's a really lovely lovely form
46:19it speaks of your narrative perfectly
46:21whatever happens today like I know that I have literally put myself into that
46:25and that's not something I've ever done
46:26well look Finn I think it's a testament to your true character
46:30I think it's absolutely wonderful
46:37I think in terms of that kind of idea of the human body in motion
46:41I don't know whether sort of on first glance I'd necessarily know it was a human body
46:45it feels like it's just come out of space
46:47on this side you can see that it's more of a body
46:51with a leg raised up and an arm raising up
46:54the balance, the counterbalance to it
46:57I've got to commend you on the build
46:59I mean it's huge
47:00yeah I mean to get that through this process
47:02is you know is miraculous
47:04there's certain elements that I think have worked really well
47:06I mean these are marvellous
47:08but as a surface for smoke firing
47:11not sure whether that actually works
47:14I really wanted the contrast
47:16I know that
47:16I know you did
47:17I know the smooth surfaces are going to be best for this type of firing
47:21but then it just makes the burnished surfaces look even better
47:24honestly I absolutely love it
47:26you know throughout this whole process
47:27you've always pushed it
47:28your ideas, your concepts, your designs
47:31and this is a testament to you pushing the boundaries
47:34I'm really glad that you're...
47:36you're proud of it
47:46so this piece is called I Can't Do It
47:49and it's what used to write in all my textbooks when I couldn't do a subject
47:52that's probably all I could write at the time
47:56it looks really tortured
47:57and I like that because it makes me think of the way I felt at school
48:02I think it's really quite extraordinary actually
48:04I mean you've got some amazing smoke effects
48:07yeah they look almost like sinew
48:09yeah
48:11it has a sense of energy
48:12you know that energy that you've imbued it with
48:14that sense of exasperation
48:16it kind of really has that
48:17it feels like there's something inside
48:19trying to get out
48:20and something pushing from the outside in
48:23that kind of smoothness on the outside
48:25sheltering that emotion
48:26inner frustration
48:27yeah that's incredible isn't it
48:29yeah
48:29it just kind of embodies everything you're talking about
48:32I think subconsciously
48:34that sort of emotion must have come through my hands
48:35and I wasn't really thinking about it
48:37well look
48:39that's what you get with a process like this
48:41that's what you get
48:43you know when you work with the clay
48:45it is
48:46sometimes it is subconscious
48:47and these things just happen
48:49it's
48:50it's
48:50it's brilliant
48:51well done thank you very much Bill
48:53thank you
48:54thank you
49:02sorry
49:03sorry
49:04for God's sake
49:06every stage of this bloody make
49:11well look Elham
49:12I think
49:13I think it's probably
49:14the best thing you've made
49:15in the pottery so far
49:17thank you
49:18the ears for me are wonderful
49:20and I just think
49:22the way you fashion the head
49:24is
49:24absolutely spot on
49:26you get a sense of that weight
49:28and that heaviness
49:29you can kind of see the strain in the back
49:32yeah
49:32and then yeah you've got this
49:34beautiful lightness to the fabric
49:36yeah
49:36and then you've got all of this lovely
49:38kind of smoke fired effect on the top
49:40light and shade black and white
49:41I think it's really really wonderful
49:43to get that idea of tension
49:45and life and form
49:47into clay
49:48is no mean feat
49:49but you've managed to do that really really well
49:51I love it
49:52I feel like each stage of this
49:54I've just fell more and more in love with it
49:56yeah
49:56well done thank you very much Elham
49:58thank you
49:59thank you so much
50:00brilliant
50:00thank you
50:01for Keith to say that it's the best thing
50:03that I've made
50:04that's a really lovely feeling
50:06like I am really proud of it
50:08I'd like to be part of the week
50:11it would be nice
50:12just once
50:13I think this is a really hard week to judge on who's going
50:16because they're all so beautiful
50:17and they're all so poignant
50:19I've never made anything that's been that personal to me
50:22just hope it's enough
50:25oh that was quite an emotional one wasn't it
50:27I don't think it was their cup of tea
50:29but erm
50:30I absolutely love it
50:31honestly
50:32and that's quite rare for me to love my work
50:34weirdly I don't regret it
50:36I'm really happy that I did that
50:37I guess it lived up to its name
50:39keep on rolling
50:40even if it was rolling in the wrong direction
50:50the quarter finals
50:52what a week
50:52we've had bodies in motion
50:53yeah
50:54also great generosity from our potters I found
50:56I mean total respect to them for putting it on the line
50:59completely
51:00all the more respect knowing that we're going to go through it with a fine tooth cone
51:04let's talk about Ann Harrod
51:05is she in line for potter of the week?
51:07yeah
51:07absolutely
51:08it was a beautiful example of the smoke firing process
51:11she delivered everything we could have asked for
51:14somebody who also had extraordinary firing effects
51:19I know who you were going to say
51:20who am I going to say?
51:20Bill
51:21yeah
51:23absolutely sublime
51:23will he finally get his potter of the week?
51:26he should be in the discussion
51:27undoubtedly
51:28he should be
51:29who else do you think?
51:30Elham
51:31Elham really
51:31the whole starts of the sculpture just worked really really well
51:35yeah beautifully put together
51:36an incredible form
51:37but also intensely personal
51:38and who is in danger of leaving the pottery?
51:42Naveed
51:42and Kaylee
51:44this is the difficulty
51:45you've got Kaylee
51:46whose kind of fundamental structure didn't stand up
51:49but the smoke fired effects were beautiful
51:51and then you've got Naveed
51:54whose structure was sound
51:56but probably wasn't the most appropriate for those smoke fired effects
51:59you know
51:59how do you pick between those?
52:01or do you pick between those?
52:03yeah
52:15well done potters
52:17you've created some absolutely wonderful work
52:20you should all be so proud of yourselves
52:22right
52:22this week's potter of the week is
52:28and Harrod
52:29yay
