Projecting Dalton Risner's Contract, Why Bengals Should Re-Sign Him
Transcript
00:00think it was the final game of the year. Probably was the final game of the year. We were starting
00:03to talk about off season stuff. And I was like, offer him two for 10 right now. That's what I
00:07would do. I would offer him two for 10, try to get it done. And Dalton hasn't had a multi
00:12-year deal.
00:12And so Paul was on the other side of it. Like, look, he's played well, but he's not, he's usually
00:20available in the middle of the summer. And it was a good point. And I was like, well, maybe,
00:24maybe I'm just way off on this and I'm too close to it. And so maybe it's the other way.
00:29Maybe the
00:29Bengals need to push two for 12 and try to get this done. Because according to Popper's contract
00:34projection, Dalton Reisner projected to sign a two-year $14 million deal. He played really well.
00:39He did. He played really well last year. I know the Bengals are interested in signing him. I know
00:44he's interested in coming back to the Bengals. He's told everybody that that asked. I think that
00:49him and his representatives will meet with the Bengals in the near future. Maybe it is at the
00:54combine. A lot of things happen at the combine, but I keep going back to this. And obviously we
01:00had the Jalen Davis news. If you missed it, the Bengals got a deal done with Jalen Davis. That's
01:04a big deal. He could start a nickel for them this year, potentially. They got a deal done with
01:08Kendrick Pryor on Wednesday. But then as far as Reisner goes, last year, the blueprint was Mike
01:14Kosicki. And it felt like Mike Kosicki might get a big deal. They didn't allow him to get to free
01:18agency. They got the deal done right before free agency started. Maybe that's what happens with
01:22Dalton Reisner. I tend to think that that's what will happen because the Bengals want him back and
01:26he wants to be back. And usually you can find common ground, but they also want to maximize
01:31what they're worth. And the Bengals want to do the same and it's a negotiation and that's tough.
01:35And anyone that's been in a negotiation knows how that goes. So we will see. But I think the two
01:39years, 14 million might be a tad high. I think two for 10, two for 11 in that range, maybe
01:44you bake
01:45in some incentives in there. I think that probably gets it done, but that gives you an idea of what
01:49the market could be if you do let a guy like Reisner test a free agency.
