00:14how uh how was day one oh it was great i mean i just got here six hours ago woke up at 2 a.m
00:20um and watered through a fire hose went and signed the contract put my cleats on my thumb
00:27braces taped up put on a put on the stripes on the the new bald head helmet fit a little differently
00:32and then walked out there the field got some practice in man it was great happy to be here
00:36you've been here you know eight hours and i came here on a visit but i can tell you from that short
00:42amount of time uh the way this locker room is and conversations with trey the whole offensive line
00:49room uh it's just somewhere i want to be um whether it's the blue collar feel the family feel
00:54organization that feels tight-knit loyal um an organization that wins football games you put
00:59all that together it's just somewhere you want to be so i'm really grateful to be here um i have a
01:04quote and it's you know when you're grateful for what you have you have everything you need and i'm
01:07really grateful to be here i don't need a thing more and excited to see my role i know you haven't
01:12been here long have you talked with joe at all had any conversation he came up and introduced himself
01:16you know i've been i kind of was getting thrown in there trying to learn technique and practice and
01:20he came up and said hi and introduced himself as he did other guys that just got here today so
01:24you can see the type of leader he is and the way he carries himself on this team which is pretty
01:28special it's the same way for ted karras orlando brown um i got a lot of respect for those guys and
01:34there's a lot of a lot of really good talented guys on this football team but they're also humble and
01:39that those are guys i want to surround myself with what do you think uh dalton will be the key to
01:43fitting in and meshing in with the rest of the group you got to come in and be yourself man
01:48um you got to come in and be yourself um and you can't have 13 cameras by your locker after every
01:53practice that's not the way to do it so help me out a little bit here guys unless i'm not going to
01:57be doing so well on the fines um but i'm going to come in and be myself i'm going to earn respect i'm
02:02entitled to nothing i expect nothing out of being here right now my job is to come in if you need me
02:07to carry water i don't i don't care what it is i'm gonna come in here earn the respect to the guys
02:11in the room earn respect to the coaches in this team and put my head down and go to work and
02:15see where things end up that's all you can do and um like i said with my quote man just be grateful
02:20that you're here do you think that it's realistic that you could be active week one do you have
02:24enough time do you think to get ready come in man i'm a competitor i come here to i came here i came
02:29here i did go to class i came here to help the cincinnati bangles in whatever role that is so if i'm
02:34active week one let's go uh this is an off weekend for me you know i didn't go through four or five weeks
02:39of training camp um and i've been grinding so i take a lot of pride in the shape i'm in but
02:42let's be honest these guys just got done with a five-week grind of a period and otas they deserve
02:49a couple days off i'll be in my playbook uh getting right so i can help the team prepare
02:52for the cleveland browns process like for you just kind of the waiting miserable yeah i wouldn't
02:58recommend it to anybody um i'm really unfortunate how it's ended up like that the last couple years
03:03for me and you never want to get labeled as a guy that wants to stay on the market and i want to
03:07make it very clear that it's not my uh intention ever um it's just the business side of things
03:13sometimes that get tough but um let's hope i can kick some serious butt with the cincinnati bangles
03:18and uh i don't even have to hit that thing called free agency in march what was the the period from
03:24last week's visit to to yesterday like because i'm sure that was tough too yeah just a lot of back
03:30and forth a lot of soul searching thinking about the future and at the end of the day you have other
03:35interests from teams you want to weigh out your options but you kind of know what the best
03:39fit is and i've wanted to be a bangle the last couple weeks i mean i'm not going to act like it's
03:44been a four or five month process but the last two or three weeks ever since my visit and communications
03:50and meeting coach taylor and coach rascotti and coach peters and um it's just somewhere i wanted to
03:55be man i told him earlier to the the point of the fit here and why i feel like it's a fit uh this is
04:00just somewhere i want to be uh it's a great opportunity as well great offensive line room
04:05and i don't just say all that just to sound media friendly um it's just somewhere i wanted to be
04:10and a lot of back and forth the last week and conversations with your agent conversations
04:14with the bangles and eventually coming to something you agree on is it fair to say that's why you didn't
04:19take any other visits after this visit very fair to say very fair to say there was options out there
04:24right but when you weigh your options and you compare contracts or whatever that we get in the
04:28weeds about it all but when you kind of realize that maybe for example another team might be where the
04:34bangles are at uh the bangles cincinnati bangles is where i want to be but you always got to do
04:38your due diligence uh it's the nfl you're not going to be in the nfl forever so you want to always weigh
04:43your options and see what type of contracts are being offered to you and your agent and um make
04:47the decision from there but as soon as i kind of felt like that's where things were at i was like man
04:50let's let's go to cincinnati how much did the bangles have to sell you that this was the right place
04:56to be they didn't have to sell me very much at all i mean that's that's not really the nfl either i mean
05:00these guys are going to show you what they're made of going to tell you about the way that
05:03they build an organization um from the way i went to a workout and they have the owner there and the
05:07gm and all these guys right you could see right away that this is a family affair the love that i've
05:12gotten from who day nation i think i'm saying that right right who day nation okay um who they gonna
05:17say beat them bangles right something like that anyways uh really happy to be here and when you when
05:22you look at all your options and at the end of the day it came down to i want to be in cincinnati
