00:00Come with us as we go all out at this halal afghan spot called Kandahar Grill in Hicksville, New York.
00:05This was our first time trying afghan food.
00:07We started with their mantou, thin steamed dumplings stuffed with their seasoned ground chicken,
00:12plated on top of their garlic sauce, topped with their chickpea curry, more garlic sauce,
00:17their afghan spice mix, and cilantro.
00:20I'm a huge fan of dumplings, so needless to say, I was excited.
00:24And they did not disappoint.
00:26Off to a great start.
00:27Next up, they insisted we try their balani, a potato-stuffed afghani flatbread,
00:32which gets lightly fried in some oil, plated, topped with cilantro, served with their garlic sauce.
00:39These are a must when you're here.
00:40On to their kebab platters.
00:42We ordered three different platters, starting with their chicken tikka,
00:46then their chicken kofta gets made by packing their house-marinated and seasoned chicken
00:50into the meat grinder, and then pushing all of it through until it looks like this.
00:58They pack it all together, then beautifully form that chicken kofta onto some skewers,
01:04and place them on the grill.
01:05Of course, we had to try their beef kofta as well, made the same way by grinding the marinated
01:10and seasoned beef, forming that beef kofta onto some skewers, and placing them on the grill.
01:16Each kebab gets continuously turned, and it's time to build each platter.
01:21They all get a healthy serving of rice,
01:25some salad,
01:26and on goes that beef kofta with their spice mix.
01:30They give you the option to add kabuli, aka caramelized carrots and raisins,
01:33which we absolutely agree to for the chicken kofta kebab and their chicken tikka kebab.
01:39I went right in and drizzled some white sauce on their beef kofta.
01:43That meaty beef kofta mixed with their rice is perfection.
01:46Rebecca added some white sauce, red chutney, and green chutney to their chicken kofta kebab
01:50and loved every second of it.
01:52And their chicken tikka kebab needs to be on your devour list.
01:55It seriously blew me away.
01:57That chicken was so tender.
01:58The mix of their afghan flavors in that white sauce, fantastic.
02:02And we're still going.
02:03Their stewed lamb shank gets topped with rice, a lot of it,
02:09and their kabuli.
02:10I couldn't even lift this lamb shank without the meat falling right off.
02:15Yes, please.
02:16Add a drizzle of white sauce and never look back,
02:19because this could honestly be the most tender thing I've ever had in my life.
02:23They said we couldn't leave without trying their two different pita sandwiches.
02:26First, their chicken shawarma, which gets grilled and chopped up.
02:30A fresh pita gets their flamin' sauce and their white sauce.
02:34Stuffed with some chicken shawarma, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, pickled onions,
02:39more chicken shawarma, more white sauce, more flamin' sauce,
02:43finished with cilantro.
02:45Yeah, I'm glad we stuck around for this.
