00:00Join us as we go live to Venezuela, the Foreign Affairs Minister Ivan Hili's offering statements. Let's listen.
00:08Today we have seen two expositions very interesting of the juridical team from Venezuela
00:17who has exposed arguments that are unbreakable on the right and diplomatic ways.
00:25One of them is that Geneva was declared new, the terrible, the cross thing from 1999 that pretended to steal
00:42the SQB by the United Kingdom
00:46and opened the doors to a new direct negotiation between the parties to be satisfied for both sides.
00:57And in that point we are right now, Venezuela has come pushing during these 60 years
01:04the Pacific solution of this issue through the direct dialogue, and that is what we are referring to right now.
01:11On the other side, we have seen that the position today, that it was clear that the route, the map
01:22route,
01:23that the Guyana government is a new lateral one, an illegal one,
01:30a one that did not represent the spiritus of Geneva agreement.
01:35And it's not going to take us to any solution, any satisfactory solution, so that we can sit down face
01:45to face
01:46between the two republics to give a solution to this problem, to this territorial problem between the two nations,
01:56the people of Guyana, the people of Venezuela.
01:58We are sure that sooner than later, we are going to find a solution, a definite solution for this issue.
02:06That is one mechanism of direct consultation that is as it is called in this university.
02:13So we think that sooner than later is going to be the solution.
02:24Do you affirm in this 2026, the position in Geneva, it is demonstrated,
02:30and we have seen in the law position, a juridical position, Venezuela has said since the beginning,
02:37even since when we start in the international court, that this court cannot solve issue that has to deal
02:54with the territorial integrity of Venezuela.
02:59And Venezuela has given this application of this law, it is not valid in Venezuela.
03:08The International Court of Justice has not any law to intervene between the problem.
03:17The only juridical instrument and valid one is the Geneva agreement.
03:27We were live at this hour to Venezuela, we were listening to statements of Foreign Affairs Minister Ivan Hill
03:33as the nation is marking 60 years of the signing of the Geneva Treaty,
03:37the primary instrument for resolving the long-standing territorial dispute over the Ezequiel region.
03:44Venezuela will keep defending the peaceful resolution of this dispute.
03:48Those were the statements at this hour from the highest authority, diplomatic authority of Venezuela.
