Bears coach Ben Johnson details the problems he has seen with the team's running game heading into the Monday night battle with the Commanders.

00:06It's hard to evaluate any of our running backs right now when you turn on the tape and there's
00:12some free runners in the hole where the play is designed to go.
00:15And so, like I said last week, I take it personally because I actually spend more time on the
00:22run game than I do on the passing game and not only trying to create explosives in the
00:26running game, but being sound and take a lot of pride in our execution of the fundamentals
00:33of, you know, you talk about a deuce block, deuce combination, all looking the same, a triple
00:38between the tight end and the tackle, all looking the same.
00:41And we're just, we're not quite there yet.
00:44And so, it's been a race since training camp started.
00:48We get pads on.
00:49That's when the full speed starts happening and you get linebackers that are coming downhill
00:53and pulling you off your double teams.
00:55And we're just not reacting fast enough right now.
00:57And so, we got to learn from everything that we've put on tape so far as an entire unit
01:02so that those combinations can be a lot cleaner.
01:05And so, we give our runners a chance because we do have some dynamic players, whether it's
01:10our running backs or our receivers, that if we can give them a chance to get a little bit
01:14of green grass, they take advantage of it.
01:16But we just haven't done it consistently enough.
