Noida-based Galgotias University was asked to vacate the India AI Impact Summit on Wednesday after a controversy erupted over a robotic dog showcased at its booth. The robot, introduced as “Orion” and projected as an in-house innovation, was later identified online as a commercially available Chinese-made product, triggering sharp criticism on social media. In a viral video from the expo, communications faculty member Neha is seen presenting the robodog. Responding to the backlash, she said, “By one misinterpretation, the internet has gone by storm. It might be that I could not convey well what I had wanted to say, or you could not understand well what I wanted to say. I am a faculty member in communications at the School of Management, not in AI.” She added, “As a university, we are standing tall. The robot was brought here only for projection.”
