00:02An Indian university has been asked to vacate its stall at the country's flagship artificial intelligence summit after a staff
00:09member was seen presenting a commercially available robotic dog made in China as its own creation.
00:16Neha Singh, a communications professor at Galgosius University, told state broadcaster DD News that the university's center of excellence had
00:25developed the robot, which she referred to as Orion.
00:29However, social media users later identified the robot as the Unitree Go2, a commercially available model produced by Chinese company
00:37Unitree Robotics.
00:39The robotic dog is widely used in research and education globally. DD News has since deleted the video.
00:46The episode sparked widespread criticism online and raised questions about India's artificial intelligence ambitions.
00:52Both Galgosius University and Singh later clarified that the robot was not developed by the university and said no such
01:00claim had been officially made.
01:02No sir, we didn't say that. This is a little misinterpretation.
01:06And you know in social media, there's no small thing in the eye.
01:10We didn't say that we took this dog for 350 crores.
01:15We just said that our university is doing this investment in AI's direction.
01:21We have to procure one part of investment.
01:25Procure means to take our children.
01:27The silver mechanical dog was displayed at a booth operated by the private university during the India AI Impact Summit
01:35at Bharatmandapam in New Delhi.
01:38The summit, which runs until Saturday, has been billed as the first major AI gathering hosted in the global south.
