00:38Et, of course, we know Paris est undergoing huge transformations,
00:42facing big challenges, quand il y a de cleanliness de public space,
00:45air quality, pollution, traffic congestion.
00:48Je suis un Parisien pour des années, je sais comment difficile il est de vivre ici,
00:50mais aussi je vois un grand nombre de improvements ici.
00:53Innovative solutions are also really taking shape.
00:57Tell us more about the region.
00:58It is really one of the most innovative regions.
01:01Tell us what you are doing to ensure that the region stays on top.
01:05There's a lot of competition around.
01:07Yes, the Paris region is one of the most innovative in the world.
01:12We have all the talents.
01:14We have a school of physics that is well-known abroad.
01:18When you go abroad, you see many engineers, they are French,
01:22and we are very good in artificial intelligence, in quantum.
01:26And so, the Paris region represents, is the first region in the world
01:31for investment in R&D, research and development.
01:34So, all of this makes an ecosystem a very innovative ecosystem.
01:39And what we do as a public authority is to try to help this ecosystem strive,
01:46grow and really be successful here and abroad, of course.
01:52is, of course, sustainability, the ecological transition.
01:56How are you aligning the innovation startups
01:58and the programs that you're supporting with those priorities?
02:03Yes, sustainability is a big topic everywhere and here, of course, also.
02:07So, you have two ways to do it.
02:09It's to foster innovation.
02:11Of course, we think that the solutions can come from innovation,
02:15and you can see it on the Choose Paris region booths,
02:18many solutions from startups in hydrogen,
02:23all the sustainability topics,
02:26and also to help the old industry transition.
02:31This is also a big issue for us.
02:34And this goes through also innovation.
02:36So, what we do, again, as a public authority,
02:39is to put the public first and then to do connections
02:45between large groups, for instance, large industries
02:48and startups who have solutions.
02:50And what about the role that the region, Ile-de-France,
02:53the greater Paris region, plays in leveraging emerging technologies
02:57such as AI, quantum,
03:00given, of course, the heritage of the region?
03:03These technologies, AI, quantum, are very important to us.
03:07We just got a Nobel Prize in physics.
03:11We started a quantum startup, for instance.
03:16So, what we do, most of all, so we, again, public funding,
03:20but also what we call AI call for projects.
03:23We choose a topic, for instance, in industry.
03:26I just announced with Renault an automotive urban mobility
03:31call for project laureate.
03:33And so, we choose a topic.
03:34We do a call for project with startups, public funding,
03:38and then we do this connection between large group
03:41and the startup, and then solutions merge.
03:45Of course, the dynamism of the Paris region, the Ile-de-France.
03:49Can you tell us more about the initiatives that you're working on
03:52to ensure that the innovative projects that you're focusing up
03:55can successfully scale up to contribute to job creation?
03:59This is, of course, one of the biggest metropolitan areas of Europe,
04:03certainly in France.
04:04Yeah, so it's to build relationships between different organizations
04:12who have solutions.
04:13It can be research.
04:14It can be large group.
04:16Again, it can be SMEs and everyone.
04:18So, to put all these people together
04:20and also then help them grow.
04:23It's looking for money, of course.
04:26So, there is public money, but not only.
04:28And here, for instance, coming here to VivaTech
04:30to meet clients, to find business.
04:34It's also a way, of course, to grow this ecosystem.
04:36And from your point of view, of course, over the next 12 months,
04:40we've got the Paris Olympics, Paris 2024 coming up.
04:43What are going to be the major challenges that lie ahead
04:47in those 12 months and the other big events
04:50that Paris regularly holds, for example?
04:52How will technology, new technology, help you solve those challenges?
04:57Yeah, so we have the Olympics, but before we have the Rugby World Cup.
05:02So, huge sports events.
05:04Everybody will be watching us.
05:06Main challenge, I would say, cyber security.
05:09We saw with Tokyo that there was like 4 billion cyber attacks
05:14just at the moment of the Olympics.
05:17So, this is a very, very important topic for us
05:21to prepare our startups, our SMEs, our large groups
05:25to have answers to these cyber attacks.
05:28So, we are building several things.
05:31Like, we have a huge national cyber center
05:34with everybody again in it, laboratories, research, start-ups,
05:40large companies, large corporations.
05:43And there are many other things that help also
05:46and to get ready for these attacks
05:49that will unfortunately happen.
05:51Okay, a lot of challenges there, but a lot of solutions, too,
05:54here in the Île-de-France, the greater Paris region.
05:57Thank you very much, Alexandre Dublanche,
05:59vice president here of the region.
06:05Thank you, thank you, Luke, and thank you to Alexandre Dublanche
