00:00Et je m'ai rejoint par Sheila O'Hara,
00:02Sustainability Leader at IBM,
00:04et Jean-Marc Gauve, High Tech Industry Solution Experience
00:07Director at Dassault Systèmes.
00:09IBM and Dassault, who joined forces earlier this year.
00:13Hello to the two of you, thank you very much for being here.
00:15Sheila, tell us about this partnership between IBM and Dassault.
00:19How are you trying to drive sustainability
00:21in data center operations?
00:24So IBM and Dassault renewed their collaboration
00:27earlier on this year to address
00:29the sustainability challenges of asset intensive industries.
00:33So the goal of this collaboration is to explore and refine
00:36how a combination of our technologies
00:39can help those industries to address
00:40their sustainability challenges.
00:42One strategic focus area is indeed data centers.
00:45If you look at the energy consumption of data centers,
00:49you'll see that the cooling and emergency power provision
00:52consumes as much energy as the IT resources
00:56within a data center.
00:57So we're coming at this from both angles.
01:01And we're going to address the optimization of the cooling
01:05with the Dassault system technology.
01:08And the IBM technology is addressing the optimization of IT resources.
01:12And if you optimize IT resources, your benefits are twofold
01:16because you're reducing direct energy consumption,
01:18but you're also reducing the need for cooling.
01:20And that's capital, of course.
01:22Let's stay on that topic of data center.
01:25Jean-Marc, what exactly is the virtual twin experience
01:29and how does it contribute to sustainable transformation of industries?
01:33It's a good question.
01:34Virtual twin experience actually is composed with three components.
01:38The first one is the representation of a product, a factory company.
01:47It could be 3D, but it can be also models, system models.
01:51The second component is the real-world data coming from different solutions.
01:57And in our case, it comes from IBM solutions.
02:01And those data, we're able to project them on the representation.
02:06And the third component is the collaboration environment allowing to transform,
02:12to translate the analysis into actions.
02:19In the context of data centers, virtual twin enabled to improve the sustainability
02:26by reducing the energy consumption.
02:30So as Shell has said, actually, in the data center,
02:34the IT system and the cooling system consume most of the energy.
02:38The virtual twin actually enabled to aggregate data
02:41coming from those two different systems.
02:44And actually, by analyzing those data and making some correlation,
02:51we are able to find additional energy savings.
02:55So now we know the objectives.
02:56What specific technologies, tools, solutions are being used thanks to this partnership?
03:01So from an IBM perspective, we're using IBM Turbonomic,
03:05which proposes optimization of the IT resources
03:08while ensuring application performance.
03:10It also provides direct vision of the power consumption of those resources and the economies that we can make.
03:19From a maintenance perspective, we're using the Maximo Suite, which manages, maintains, and monitors your critical assets within the data
03:28center,
03:29expanding their lifespan, ensuring they're performing optimally, reducing their consumption, and also ensuring that there's a safe environment to work
03:38in.
03:38And then we have our ESG performance suite, which is taking data from those solutions, but also from other solutions
03:45to provide this holistic view of ESG performance across scope one, two, and three, but also across resources like water
03:52and waste.
03:54And then these are encapsulated within the 3D experience platform from Dassault, which provides the virtual twin on which we
04:03project our real-time and operational data.
04:07And Jean-Marc, what are some examples of success stories with the virtual twin experiences?
04:12Actually, Dassault System has a long track record in virtual twin, starting with digital mock-up and progressively evolving to
04:21the virtual twin experience.
04:22So let me give you some examples.
04:26Thanks to the complete digital models, the first prototype of a Falcon 7X was able to fly when it took
04:38several prototypes previously.
04:42Vehicles are progressively safer today thanks to crash test simulation.
04:49The modeling of city environments and activities that we have done with the city of Singapore enable us to plan
05:02improvements, for example, to be able to simulate the emergency evacuation.
05:08or a better life in the city.
05:11Useful on the ground and in the air, of course.
05:14Sheila, IBM has shown that it is invested in supporting the sustainable transition of enterprises.
05:20What are some of the benefits you offer to organizations seeking sustainable solutions?
05:25We really have a unique position to offer these companies because we are making the link between their ESG performance
05:32data and their operations,
05:34where the actions are going to be taken to reduce their environmental footprint.
05:38We take actions on three pillars, physical facilities, IT infrastructure, and also the supply chain.
05:45And we're helping these companies to really understand where to start, where to go, and how to get there.
05:51Thank you so much to the two of you. Thank you for being here.
05:54Please enjoy VivaTech. It's an amazing experience. You'll see that in the next few days.
05:58It's a good place.
05:59Let's meet our next guest now.
