00:30First of all, thank you so much, Martina, to take a little bit of time with us.
00:33Today, without further ado, can you tell me what Distinus is all about?
00:37Thank you. Yes, so we are aiming to change the aviation industry.
00:42And we want to do that by going fast and by going sustainable,
00:47which is a very hot topic of today and something that we all need to consider.
00:51So we are building these airplanes here that you see,
00:53that will be going five times the speed of sound,
00:56so at hypersonic velocity so that you can travel from Paris all the way to Australia in just three to
01:01four hours.
01:02So that is the goal. That's where we want to get.
01:04So somewhere in the 2040s that we'll be reaching that.
01:07And we're doing it with hydrogen.
01:09So that is the key thing of this whole thing because hydrogen is sustainable.
01:15It can be produced sustainably.
01:16It doesn't have any carbon dioxide emissions.
01:18and it is also highly efficient.
01:21So it's three times more efficient than jet fuel that is used today,
01:25which means that we can use it very well for flying at such fast speeds.
01:30So it's three times the Concorde, if you guys know about that one.
01:35We know a little bit about this one indeed.
01:36And so could you come with me and we're going to go because there is a bigger model and we
01:42can see.
01:43Tell me a little bit more about this one.
01:45You've been already into test flight, right?
01:47Yeah.
01:47So on our way to building this 300, 400 passenger aircraft,
01:52we are developing a lot of prototypes along the way,
01:55flying prototypes in particular,
01:57so that we can demonstrate different types of technologies.
01:59This one that you see here,
02:00we designed, built and tested it in just four months.
02:03and it flew back in 2021 when the company was founded.
02:07And just two weeks ago, we put hydrogen technology inside of it.
02:10So now it's also flown with hydrogen.
02:11So it's our first flight with hydrogen, which is really exciting.
02:14And then we'll be expanding on that.
02:16Then we'll be building larger and faster prototypes.
02:20So the second prototype, we already flew that one last year as well.
02:24And that one is 10 meters in size.
02:27So it's about the size of a bus.
02:28And we have another one coming that will be the world's first supersonic prototype fueled by hydrogen.
02:36So that's very exciting for us.
02:37So we're trying to combine a lot of different technologies that already exist and then put hydrogen into it.
02:45So that's the complex part that we are solving.
02:47and it relates to the engines, it relates to the storage, it relates to the production as well and liquefaction
02:54because we're using hydrogen at very cold temperatures, minus 250.
02:59So it's specialized to deal with that.
03:02And the company was founded just two years ago.
03:04So we've only been around for a short time, but we are already putting things in the air
03:08and we're already testing things on the ground.
03:10We're based in Switzerland, in France, in Germany, Spain and recently in the Netherlands
03:16because we just acquired a new company there that is building gas turbines.
03:20So on our road to develop the technologies, we are also looking into services and products that we can sell
03:27that relate to the energy markets, but also relate to the aerospace industry.
03:33The energies are more immediate area that we're focusing on.
03:36Well, thank you so much, Martina.
03:38We don't have a lot more time to introduce to you that, but if you guys want to come, this
03:43is incredible.
03:44And she's going to be able to talk to you about this impressive display that we are here.
03:50Stand number D52.
03:53Yeah, D52.
03:54Come down here.
03:55Up to stage 2.
03:57Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, next to stage 3 indeed.
04:00Yeah, yeah, come down here and you'll see that incredible plane power with hydrogen.
04:05So, yeah, we're back to you, Marjorie, right now.
04:07Quite impressive indeed, Alexei.
04:10Thank you so much, Supersonic.
04:11Alexei, we'll catch up with you in a few.
04:14But that's all.
04:14We have time for it now, of course.
04:16You're going to stay tuned on air and online with our digital platforms.
04:20When we're back, Femtech takes on VivaTech.
04:24We'll see you after the break.
04:25Thank you.
