00:20is more challenging and more necessary than ever.
00:23I'm now joined by Alain Romiac, president of Manpower Group in France.
00:29Alain, welcome to the show.
00:32Talk to me about the idea behind the new human age.
00:36So the new human age, today we see a big impact on technology, on HR, and increasing changes.
00:46So again, the climate change and the fact that we want to decarbonize the economy,
00:57plus the fact that we see an increasing impact from the technology with the AI.
01:05And so this is all what we try with the human age to explain, to understand the trends on what
01:13will be the impact on technology,
01:14so on the labor market, plus the fact that they are changing in the society.
01:20People willing to have a better alignment between their work life and their personal life.
01:30All those changes that we want to showcase here in VivaTech and to explain to the whole community what's changing.
01:40What are some of the key challenges that workers and businesses face right now, particularly in this new human age?
01:47And how is Manpower Group addressing these challenges?
01:50So I think that there are two main challenges.
01:52So the first one is we see and we believe that in the future we will see even an increasing
02:00discrepancies between the skills which are on the market and so the economy needs.
02:08So this is a big challenge for us to find candidates, to train them at scale in order to provide
02:16the skills that the customer wants.
02:18So this is the first element.
02:19The second one, each company in the future, due to all those trends and those changes, they will to retrain,
02:30reskill people also at scale.
02:32And so this is another opportunity, but also a big challenge for us.
02:36And overall, how can we leverage the technology and especially AI in order to increase the speed at which we
02:47can transform the skills and enhance the skills?
02:52How should companies in HR be adapting their strategies to face the climate change right now?
02:58So first, so we said that most of the time when companies are to adapt, they need to change their
03:04technology.
03:06They need to get access to capital in order to do the change and they need to adapt.
03:12So the resources and the skills, so to the new environment.
03:18And so this is where Manpower Group is positioned.
03:22So this is why we start working with companies in order to anticipate what will be tomorrow, the changes in
03:31their skill set and how to move from, I would say, the skills that they have today to the skills
03:39that they need for tomorrow.
03:41This is driven by what we call the strategy workforce planning and after in order to start the movement in
03:52order to adapt once again the skills higher, in some cases higher, but also retrain at scale.
04:00So this is also changing which are happening today or at least on which companies are thinking about.
04:08What role does technology play in the new human age and how do you juggle the benefits of innovation with
04:14the need to actually care for people?
04:17So technology is an opportunity and a threat.
04:21So this is an opportunity because at least on two elements.
04:26First, it allows companies to have more access to skills, to talent.
04:32because so today by using AI, we may have access to a broader range of candidates.
04:40And after so by analyzing faster the series or analyzing videos so we can get so we can have access
04:50easier to the best candidates.
04:51The second one is with so the metaverse, so the augmented reality, we can increase the speed and the power
05:02of the learning and new learning tools.
05:07And this is also a threat. So because so how are we sure that there are algorithms behind AI, there
05:18are no tweaks and that we are sure that we are not discriminated people.
05:23And the second one, this is also a threat because we will have a lot of carriers being disrupted by
05:30the technology.
05:31And this is our role here in VivaTech but more globally in the society to take care of those people
05:37and to provide them with solutions in order to work positions themselves on the market.
05:42On that note, I want to know what is Manpower Group doing to create a more inclusive and equitable workforce?
05:49How are you measuring the progress?
05:52So this is our history. Because especially on our staffing business, a lot of people coming to us, there are
05:59people having difficulties to integrate the labor market.
06:03And this is a very diverse community. And so to which, so for decades, so we have tried to also
06:13to work on being sure that we treat them equally.
06:18So now, so we use more or less the same approach as we go to technology. But this is clear
06:26that in these new words, the life is easier for people being well educated and more difficult for people with
06:35less education.
06:36So our role is to help those people, to train them, so to give them missions in order to increase
06:41their value on the labor market.
