00:26Merci. So, our commitment is to be net zero carbon in terms of emissions by 2040,
00:34which is 10 years before the Paris Agreement deadline.
00:37So, it's a big ambition that we have.
00:40That's a commitment that we've taken in 2019,
00:43when we co-funded the Climate Pledge with Global Optimism.
00:49And our strategy is actually, well, obviously, we want to address it for ourselves,
00:52but we also want to invite all companies who want to join us in that journey.
00:58We currently have more than 400 companies across the world.
01:02That's more than 35 countries, more than 50 industries.
01:07So, really, we're pushing that momentum inside and with others.
01:13Now, actually, trying to meet with the Paris Agreement deadline 10 years before it actually happens
01:20is definitely a huge commitment and challenge.
01:24What significant progresses have you made in this area?
01:28Are you already there, guys?
01:30Well, obviously, we're not there, but we're really on a path.
01:33To give you one example, we're already operating with 85% of all of our energy that is from renewable
01:40energies,
01:41and we're on track to meet our goal of being 100% by 2025,
01:47which is five years ahead of our initial goal, which was 2030.
01:52But also, I think a lot of our efforts are happening on the transportation side.
01:58It's obviously one of the things that's most visible for our customers and everyone.
02:02And there we have two main focus areas.
02:06The first one is to electrify our fleet and make sure we have electric vehicles.
02:11And the second one is to develop what we call micro-mobilities,
02:15so technically e-cargo bikes or even sometimes delivery by walkers.
02:20On the first one, we're going to spend 250 million euros in France
02:26to electrify our fleet and have electric vans.
02:30And we already have more than 20 cities across France where we operate with micro-mobilities.
02:37Just to give you some examples, in Paris, two out of three of our packages
02:42are already delivered either by foot, by bike, or by electric vans.
02:47And we have seven cities across all of France that are already at nine out of ten.
02:52So it's really something where we're trying to spread it and put it as much as we can.
02:57Obviously, it requires a lot of investments.
02:59So we're in VivaTech.
03:01Obviously, technology is super important for us.
03:03Absolutely.
03:03We use AI and machine learning to improve the routes, optimize the routes,
03:09also to support the people who are delivering so that we're there.
03:16And obviously, we also need to work with local partners.
03:19If you think of bike delivery, obviously, we need to be close to the city centers to be able to
03:25go there.
03:26So we're also working with local partners.
03:27So I definitely understand that the race for the last mile has evolved in the race for the greener mile,
03:34if I hear you loud and clear.
03:36Now, there is one major challenge when you're a retailer, an online retailer.
03:41It's definitely your suppliers.
03:43How can you actually make sure that they are as committed to meeting those sustainable commitments as you are?
03:54Well, so as I said, because the approach that we've taken from the start is already trying to welcome everyone
04:00to the climate pledge,
04:01that's one first thing.
04:02We're obviously engaging with all of our suppliers, not just our suppliers, by the way, in the climate pledge,
04:09but also operationally, right?
04:11In day-to-day, the same way we apply to ourselves, like where we address transportation, logistics,
04:18like all of our emission sources, we're doing the same with our suppliers.
04:24Maybe to give one example that's quite concrete, and again, one that people can see and touch and feel, it's
04:30packaging.
04:30So packaging is super important because, well, our customers want the smallest packaging that they can get,
04:39the most sustainable recyclable that they can get,
04:42but they also want their products to be, you know, protected.
04:45You don't want to have damage.
04:47That's one key area where we are working with our suppliers.
04:51We've already managed to reduce the weight and the volume of packages per item by 38% since 2015.
05:02To give an example of that, like a magnitude, that's 1.5 million of tons of cardboard that has been
05:09saved.
05:10But we're also, as I said, trying to be more sustainable and use recyclable material.
05:15So in the last few years, we've already removed all of the plastic bags that we used to use in
05:21some occasions,
05:21and now we've transformed them into cardboard and paper envelopes.
05:28And we're also, we've removed all the air pillows, you know,
05:32like the things that you put inside the parcel so that it doesn't break.
05:35We've also moved that to paper, which is 100% recyclable.
05:39So again, AI and tech is at the heart of what we're doing.
05:44We keep, you know, optimizing the parcels like this.
05:48AI and paper are definitely inside the toolbox of Amazon to get greener.
05:54Thank you so much, Julie Labourex, for stopping by the set of Breaking Tech.
05:59And poultry like that.
05:59Thank you.
