00:00Oh, right back at it here. Winter Olympics. We love it. We've been following along and also
00:04team USA doing really well, but we are waiting for hockey. Metal rounds coming up both wins
00:08and women's. That's something to keep an eye on. And also we won't be live on the air, Joe. I
00:12think
00:13that gold medal game for the men's Sunday morning, roughly around 8 a.m. So wake up early, get
00:18yourself caffeinated on the weekend and watch that gold medal game. It should be sensational
00:21as long as it's USA versus Canada. But let's get the people updated, Joe, on the medal counts here.
00:27Norway, always the favorite. They got 12 gold medals now, 7 silver, 9 bronze, which equates
00:32to 28 total medals. Italy, 23, U.S. 19, Japan 18, Germany 17. Yeah, you mentioned the United
00:40States there, a 41-year-old on the bobsled to get us that 6 gold medal here. So hovering
00:47around 19 here, Donnie. It's actually a lot closer up at the top of this board than we
00:52thought. But Norway has so many different athletes in most of the events that remain.
00:58The United States does not. So the opportunities for gold are dwindling here for the United States.
01:05See, that's we got to we got to invoke a rule, Joe. If you win in hockey and you have
01:0820 players
01:09there, it's 20 gold medals. That's the only way to circumvent the system and knock it down
01:13here. All right, let's get to the local ratings throughout the United States for the Milan Cortina
01:17Winter Olympics here. And who would have thought? Usually it's like, hey, man, it's got to be close
01:22to the Canadian border because that's where people really care about these sports and they play them
01:25a lot. How about Fort Myers sharing a 14.9 rating with Minneapolis as the favorites here with the most
01:33people watching, Joe? Who would have thought that? God, there's nothing else going on down there,
01:39I'm guessing. Yeah, that's the it just seems to be on, Donnie. I think that's what's going on here.
01:45But no, listen, I mean, I would like to say that they have some of the best slopes in the
01:50nation
01:50there in Fort Myers. But unless we're talking about, you know, beach slopes here, I don't know.
01:56I'm not quite sure what the contingency of viewership in Fort Myers is going on here. But
02:02kudos. There are definitely parts of this country that are all over. And I think for the most part,
02:07Donnie, I think NBC has done a great job. And I think they've they've nailed the timing of it
02:13a lot of these day and, you know, afternoon types of, you know, events that you can watch live.
02:19I think it's been a home run for him. I mean, Joe, where's Boston? Where's Philadelphia? Where's
02:25Miami? Where's Chicago? Where's Los Angeles? Where's Phoenix on this? What the big cities don't
02:30like to represent? Man, what's wrong with these big cities, Joe? Well, what else is going on? Right.
02:35So football, you were in New York. What else are you watching? What do you what do you watch?
02:38There's no football. There's no basketball right now. There's no NHL. So like, what else are you
02:43watching? Yeah, I'm not a big fan of these sports, but I've been digging it here. The storylines have
02:47been able to watch it at eight o'clock. They sort of re-rack the day for the best highlights
02:50here.
02:51I like that stuff here. Here's one thing I didn't expect, Joe. How about the number of medals won at
02:56the Winter Olympics all time in the Americas? Look at how much further the U.S. team is ahead of
03:01Canada.
03:02347 to 234. And then there's Brazil with the one gold medal out there, which I think is a gold
03:07medal that they won at this Olympics, I want to say. But USA 347 to 234. I would have thought
03:12that
03:12would have been a little bit closer, if not Canada with the lead. Crazy stuff.
03:16And it was funny, Donnie, because we talked about in the prediction markets, right? Prediction market
03:21edge our show here. We talked about Brazil. There was actually a market for Brazil to win a gold medal.
03:29And we were laughing because Brazil has never won anything in the Winter Olympics except, Donnie,
03:36you're right. For this year, they ended up taking gold in a skiing event. So kudos to them. Anything
03:42is possible, Donnie, at the Winter Olympics. But Team USA over the years has absolutely racked it up.
03:50Yep. Kevin Garnett said it best. No doubt about it here. How about this? A skier,
03:54a ski jumper, I should say, disqualified over his boots. So I guess Shaquille O'Neal wouldn't be able
04:00to be a ski jumper at this point. Boots were too big? What does that mean? It makes you
04:04less aerodynamic and able to travel farther distances? Because you can sort of like,
04:08hey, you know what? I can use that as a air rudder. Like, how does that happen?
04:13Maybe it makes you more. I have no idea what the boot situation is here. But I know there was
04:19a
04:19helmet situation earlier. Like, there's been a lot of back and forth. I don't know if it's
04:24gamesmanship here, Donnie. Like, you know, like, hey, check the pine tar on the bat kind of thing.
04:29Like, hey, check that dude's boots out, man. They seem to be a little bit bigger than what
04:33they should be. It's kind of crazy. But by the way, like, like, you know, you just did you just
04:38pick the wrong pair of boots? Like, we've all been bowling before. Like, yo, man, somebody got me a
04:42size 13. What's up with this at this point? Like, did you just put the boots on? Like,
04:45eh, I don't have enough time to change. I don't know who these are. Let's go ski.
04:49Yeah. I mean, it's like, how do you, would you just change them for the event? I'm with you.
04:55Like, aren't these, like, they should be regular. I don't get it. Kind of crazy.
04:59Squeeze one more in here. You win one Olympic medal. That's amazing here. How about Team USA
05:03advancing to the gold medal game? Hillary Knight will win her fifth Olympic medal. Just going to
05:08be a question of what's it going to be, gold or silver, Joe? Oh, no, it's going to be gold.
05:13Let's
05:13be realistic here. Let's keep it at the Olympics, people. Gold medals all the way around. People
05:19watching the show. We'll be right back. Joe, we love crazy stories from the Winter Olympics here,
05:24because you're trying to build up every storyline, and most of them are good. Like,
05:27hey, this team's trying to win a gold medal. This player has been certainly, you know,
05:30been training their whole life for this moment. Can they get it done? And then there's, you know,
05:34the quad god out there who was supposed to sweep through the Olympics, not even getting on the
05:37podium. How about this story from The Athletic? The Norwegian skier, Atlee Lye McGrath,
05:44was heartbroken after he lost a slalom gold medal that was his to take. He threw his poles,
05:49unstrapped his skis, and stormed off alone with his thoughts. How about that? Did he
05:54disappear into the woods? What was he going to look for? Sasquatch?
05:58Wah. Like, wah. What are we doing here, dude? Like, honestly, like, where are you going? Like,
06:04it's supposed to be the Olympics. Like, come on. You got to be kidding. Just storming off. That's
06:08the end of it. With his thoughts, Donnie? Is that it? He needed a little peace and quiet in the
06:12woods
06:12there? Or is that it just to get his thoughts about how he blew it? I, yeah. There's some strange
06:17dudes here at the Olympics. They take it seriously here. And how about Elena Myers-Taylor with her gold
06:23medal? Add it to the list of her accomplishments, this tweet says, from SportsCenter. Her sixth
06:28career medal ties with Bonnie Blair for most by U.S. women at the Winter Olympics. She's the most
06:33decorated black athlete at the Winter Olympics, a title she held even before the win. And at 41
06:37years old, she's the oldest American woman to win a gold medal at the Winter Olympics. That says
06:42something about longevity, man. How about that? It was funny. I mean, it's unbelievable. The amount of
06:4940-year-old, you know, women that have competed in this. I mean, like, wow. And they're, you know,
06:56they're being successful with it. So awesome stuff there by Team USA to, you know, even with the 40
07:03and up crowd getting it done for Team USA. That's awesome. All right. You want to watch some gold
07:09medals here to keep an eye on on Tuesday, Joe? How about the gold medal events for today? Women's
07:14Slope Style, 7 a.m., which is going on right now. You also have the men's individual large hill jump
07:1910k race or 10 kilometer race, 7 to 45 a.m. coming up in a matter of moments. The biathlon
07:25men's
07:26four by seven and a half kilometer relay, speed skating, freestyle skiing, and then the two-man
07:30bobsled at three o'clock this afternoon. Gold medals will be handed out today, Joe, once again in
07:35Milan. Yeah, they will. And we'll be there for it. And Team USA will get a pretty good idea as
07:42to
07:43will it be Sweden? Will it be a lot? Who is it that they got to play in order to
07:47move to the
07:47gold medal round? Now, Joe, we always hear about the stories like, hey, you might be able to find
07:52the gem late in the draft. Remember Tom Brady went in the sixth round here, the best quarterback or
07:56maybe player of all time in NFL history. Well, in the NHL, you better be a really good player because
08:00that's what you need to save your franchise here. And just take a look as the points leaders in the
08:05round robin right now in Olympic men's hockey. Yeah, everybody first overall, not first round,
08:11Joe. First overall pick. You want superstars? You got them. And they're performing.
08:17Listen, between Sweden, Team USA, and Canada, it's unbelievable the amount of talent.
08:24And we're talking about like Hall of Famers on every line, Donnie. It's just bonkers how much
08:30talent is here, which, all right, listen, it's what the Four Nations felt like last year, right,
08:36that we got a chance to see. It's it's only ratcheted up a little bit here now because it's
08:41the Olympics. But my I what would what we're going to have college guys on these teams. What would
08:47that have looked like, Donnie? I'm all for this. It's great stuff, man. Again, they have to meet
08:52the gold medal. We'll all watch that Sunday morning and away we go. But in hot like sometimes I don't
08:57understand what nations are about in hockey. And you don't want to embarrass your country here,
09:01even though France, every time they take the ice, seem like they're embarrassing their country.
09:03You have one guy on your team that's like, you know what? I had enough. I'm going to stick up
09:08for us as opposed to us getting beat 10 to every game. Following his fight with Tom Wilson, Francis
09:13Pierre Crenon has been banned for the rest of the Milano Cortino Olympics by French Hockey Federation,
09:20not the International Hockey Federation, because his provocative behavior and a violation of Olympic
09:25spirit. He's the only guy showing spirit for France. I mean, you lost 10 to two to Canada.
09:33Like, come on. Like you shouldn't even be on the, how you're even on the, I'm with him, man.
09:38If we can't beat you, I'm going to fight you. I don't mind that. I mean, show,
09:43show a little fight there, France. That's what I'm talking about. Finally.
09:48Provocative behavior there at this point. No, your ice hockey skills are provocative right now
09:52for team France here. Let's get the back for some non-provocative skills, which means we expected
09:56women's hockey to be Canada, USA. We are getting that for the gold medal game. That game's going to take
10:01place on Thursday at 1 10 PM Eastern. Look at this line, USA live minus 450 total. This game
10:08five and a half. You want that puck line for team USA minus one and a half at minus 164.
10:14USA has been
10:15absolutely pummeling all competitors, which includes Canada. Do we have one more pummeling Joe from team
10:22USA? Listen, I think at this point, Donnie, the only bet to make when it comes to the women's side
10:28is
10:29whether or not Canada will score a goal because it appears that it that's a very difficult thing to
10:36do against team USA. So wouldn't it be something if they run the tables here without giving up so
10:43much as a goal in any game? That's that is epic domination. How about some domination today on
10:50the ice? Switzerland up two to nothing on Italy in the knockout stage in Germany, hammering France
10:55right now, three to one in the second period. And then a little bit later today, we do have
11:00Denmark and Czechia. That game's going to start at 10 40 Eastern and then Latvia and Sweden a little
11:05bit later this afternoon at 3 10. Joe, we got live hockey right now. We've got two more games to
11:10complete a little bit later today. Yeah. I mean, Germany was up three nothing quickly with Leon
11:16Dreisaitl getting it done early, but looks like maybe getting rid of the enforcer for France. Maybe
11:22they show a little bit of fight now, Donnie. What do you think? Yeah, maybe a guy more skilled
11:27out there, not just designed to beat somebody up. We'll see. Can France hang around or France
11:31pull a victory? I don't know if that's going to happen, but they are down two goals. Same thing
11:34with Italy down two goals on their home ice here. But as we flip it over to the tournament that
11:38we're
11:38expecting to finish up on men's ice hockey, that's team USA and team Canada. If you're willing to go over
11:44to a sports book here, have a Canada minus 140 favorite, which is up to around that plus 105 plus
11:50110
11:50at the start of the Olympic games. USA plus 180, Finland 16 to 1, Sweden 18 to 1, Slovakia and
11:57Switzerland behind them here. But it seems clear the two favorites on getting to that gold medal game,
12:01team USA and team Canada. Yeah. And listen, Canada should be the favorite based upon what we've seen
12:08here. I mean, both squads were expected to make it to that, that final gold medal round and it's likely
12:15they're going to get there. The only thing standing in the way here, it appears will be,
12:19you know, Sweden is the third best team. And we all knew that now Sweden handles it later today,
12:25gets past Lafayette. Well, then team USA is going to have to get it done, but don't forget whoever
12:30team USA plays, it's going to be the second of a back-to-back here for that team.
12:35Yeah. Sweden, by the way, is a favorite against Lafayette today, Joe, minus 1300. So they should be
12:40able to advance. If we flip it over to the calcium marketplace where you can take out contracts,
12:43you see Sweden trading right now, Joe, at a 5% chance. So a $100 investment there for Sweden on
12:50Cal sheet is 1667. So theory behind that would be, Joe, they win their hockey game today. They
12:56probably bump up to six or 7%. You're already slightly profitable. And then you can roll the
13:01dice in the next round, figure they might be able to pull an upset or not, but that's up to
13:04you. And
13:05again, talking about those predictive markets compared to FanDuel slash DraftKings, you can get
13:09out of that with profit and trade anytime. So if you're feeling like team USA, they look good in
13:13their next game here before they even take on Canada, they're trading Joe at 33%. Maybe that
13:18bumps up to 35 or 36% and already gives you a profit. Or if you say right now, Hey
13:22man, let's
13:23not get this twisted. Canada is the best team left in this tournament. They're trading at 56%. I'm
13:28going to buy that right now. They're going to win the gold medal and I'm going to make myself a
13:31handsome
13:31profit when that comes out. Yeah. I mean, listen, there's a couple of different ways you can attack
13:37those markets. If you feel there's an upset going to happen. I don't think there's an upset going to
13:44happen here, but it appears that the markets think if there's going to be an upset, it's going to be
13:49with Sweden and team USA, and it's not going to be with, uh, with Canada and either Denmark or
13:55Chechia. So we'll have to see how this all plays out, Donnie. I don't have the, uh, the, uh, not
14:02contract,
14:02the, uh, schedule in front of me. And if anybody behind the scenes has us, when is the next game
14:07for team USA? We don't know the competitor that they're going to play, but do we have this maybe
14:10Thursday? I guess it would have to be either Wednesday or Thursday here. So the U S correct
14:15me if I'm wrong. Also, how many games do they have to win Joe before they wind up in the
14:19gold
14:19medal game? It's just one game they have to win and then they'll play Canada or is it? So it's
14:23two
14:23more cards. Well, they'll play this one tomorrow and then Sunday will be the gold medal round.
14:29So it's two to win a gold one, just to get to the gold medal game. Correct. There we go.
14:34Lining it up for the people on a morning here on Tuesday. It's how we get down Joe. Let's check
14:39it out right now. You know, what's coming up next. Let's get into college basketball. It's
14:42heating up at center court. We'll be right back here on the early line. Oh, 2026 winter Olympics,
14:47ice hockey bronze medal winner. The favorite Finland next favorite Sweden here after that Switzerland.
14:54Why? Because the expectations are Canada and the U S will be in that gold medal
14:58game, but could there be an upset Joe, which maybe sends the U S trading a 12% chance to
15:04win
15:04that bronze? Huh? Maybe why they, you know, I think an argument can be made Donnie that you can
15:10bet two out of those three teams and probably get a return on your money, depending on what happens
15:14here over the next 24 hours. Yeah. It should be interesting to watch it play out. But again,
15:19we are all rooting for the same thing. We're getting in women's hockey, Joe. We're getting
15:22Canada and the U S that's the way we want it. Just give that four nations tournament was so damn
15:26good. And over the past Olympics, when these two teams meet in the gold medal, it's fantastic
15:31nation first nation violence. That's what we need here.
