In this educational lecture, we explore the profound importance and virtues of Zakat and Zakat al-Fitr (Fitra) in Islam — two essential forms of charity that purify wealth, strengthen faith, and uplift society.

Zakat is one of the five pillars of Islam. It is not optional charity; it is an obligatory act of worship prescribed by Allah. The word “Zakat” means purification and growth — purification of wealth from greed and purification of the soul from selfishness.

Allah says in the Qur’an (Surah At-Tawbah 9:103):

“Take from their wealth a charity by which you purify them and cause them increase.”

In this video, we discuss:

• The definition of Zakat and its 2.5% obligation
• Spiritual purification through charity
• Social justice and poverty reduction in Islam
• Barakah (blessing) in wealth through giving
• The reward of Zakat on the Day of Judgment
• Authentic Hadith references from Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim

We also explain Zakat al-Fitr (Fitra) — the mandatory charity given at the end of Ramadan before the Eid prayer.

Fitra is different from annual Zakat. It is required from every Muslim who can afford it and must be given on behalf of oneself and dependents.

The Prophet ﷺ said that Zakat al-Fitr was made obligatory:

“As purification for the fasting person from idle talk and sinful speech, and as food for the poor.”
— Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Sahih Abu Dawud

In this lecture, you will learn:

• How Fitra purifies the fast
• Why it must be given before Eid prayer
• How it ensures dignity and joy for the poor
• The connection between personal worship and social responsibility
• The spiritual completion of Ramadan

This video emphasizes a powerful Islamic principle:

Worship is not complete without compassion.
Faith is not complete without generosity.

Zakat and Fitra transform wealth into blessing, fasting into perfection, and Eid into shared joy.

Perfect for:

• Ramadan preparation
• Islamic reminders (Tazkiyah)
• Youth Islamic education
• Community awareness
• Spiritual growth

May Allah accept our Zakat, our Fitra, and our worship.

If this reminder benefits you, share it so others may also benefit.

Ameen.
