00:04In this lesson, we will learn about Qurbani, also known as Udhiya, according to Imam Abu Hanifa.
00:12Qurbani means slaughtering a specific animal during the prescribed days solely for the pleasure of Allah.
00:17In Arabic, this act is called Udhiya.
00:20According to Imam Abu Hanifa, Qurbani is wajib, meaning obligatory, though it is not fard.
00:26Qurbani is wajib upon every Muslim who is sane, mature, a resident, and owner of the nisab amount of wealth.
00:35A sahib nisab is a person whose wealth exceeds basic needs and reaches the nisab threshold.
00:42Qurbani may be performed on the 10th, 11th, and 12th of the Hijjah, after the Eid prayer.
00:55The first day is the most virtuous.
00:58Qurbani animals include camels, cows, buffaloes, goats, sheep, and rams, provided they meet the required age.
01:06Each animal must meet the minimum age requirement, with a special exception for a healthy 6-month-old sheep that
01:12appears fully grown.
01:14Animals with serious defects such as blindness, severe lameness, extreme weakness, or major missing body parts are not valid for
01:21Qurbani.
01:22Each participant must intend Qurbani, or another valid act of worship, not merely obtaining meat.
01:30It is recommended to divide the meat into three parts, one for yourself, one for relatives and friends, and one
01:37for the poor.
01:38The hide may be kept, donated, or given in charity, but it must not be sold for personal benefit.
02:01If Qurbani was obligatory and missed, one must give a goat or its monetary value in charity.
02:10Qurbani may be offered on behalf of a deceased person, either by will or voluntarily, as a gift of reward.
02:18Qurbani is obligatory for women who own nisab.
02:21It is not obligatory for travelers.
02:24The Sunnahs include caring for the animal, facing it toward the Qibla, reciting the name of Allah, and performing the
02:31sacrifice properly.
02:33The true purpose of Qurbani is taqwa, obedience and sincerity.
02:37What reaches Allah is your piety.
02:40For personal matters, consult a qualified scholar or mufti, as some issues involve differences of opinion.
02:47May Allah accept our sacrifices and grant us sincerity in worship.
