00:01There's been a pretty large fire here just south of Seymour in the Trawool area in central
00:09Victoria.
00:10Now that fire has been burning in the Tallarook State Forest which is not a national park
00:16but is certainly very dense bushland.
00:19Authorities here are really concerned about the hilly and rocky nature of the landscape.
00:24They say that is proving very difficult when battling the fire.
00:28Now the State Control Centre here in Victoria has also told me that potentially up to 1,000
00:33people have been impacted by this emergency warning in the emergency warning zone.
00:38And just a reminder that anyone in the impacted area just south of Seymour should be checking
00:44the Vic Emergency website for more precise updates about the townships that are affected.
00:50But I can also tell you that there are discussions to set up an emergency shelter potentially
00:55here in the town of Seymour.
00:57The local council and the State Control Centre haven't confirmed that with the ABC just
01:02yet.
01:02But we're certainly anticipating that that could happen.
01:06And another thing worth mentioning is the wind change which will pick up later this evening
01:11here in Victoria.
01:12Now that's expected to really change the winds sharply in a sort of a southerly, southwesterly
01:20direction.
01:20Now the fire front will obviously change there.
01:24It's now moving south.
01:26It's going to be moving north, back up towards northern Victoria.
01:30So authorities are certainly hoping that that wind change doesn't cause havoc.
01:36On the Bureau of Meteorology website on the radar there, there is quite a large rain dump.
01:42So look, hopefully that really eases fire conditions here just outside of Seymour in central Victoria.
01:47So we'll see you next time.
01:50We'll see you next time.
01:50Here we'll see you next time.
01:50Here we are.
