Nashville, Tenn. WKRN news channel 2 reports that one week following a cyberattack, the scene inside local Ascension hospitals was “Pure and utter chaos from the second you walk into the door.” Charting and ordering tests, to the way labs are sent and scans are read, has been impacted.

“We are a week in now at this and there is no end in sight. They are saying it’s very tense at work, the atmosphere, nurses are worried about patient safety, and also about their own nursing license because all of the safety checks that we have in place have basically been eliminated,”

Health provider Ascension (19 states / 140 hospitals) was hit by a cyberattack in early May, 2024. This created disruption in computer records systems and led to widespread service disruption. These types of incidents are not surprising after my own experience dealing with their medical services at St. Vincents East Hospital in Birmingham, AL.
I believe Ascension creates many enemies and unnecessary risk daily, through its corrupt business practices where profits and reputations come before patient care. Ascension has drawn out critics and the attention of investigation probes in the U.S. government and was called out recently by Senator Tammy Baldwin.

My own experience going to an Ascension ER in Birmingham, AL. in 2018-'19. I found that when my disposition was qualified as "self pay" (no insurance or stated source of income) I did not receive adequate medical treatment and was told no injuries appeared in X-Rays and CT that show I had broken my skull (an injury I almost died from - see images in video). Furthermore, you can hear in recorded phone calls in my other videos the lengths other professional doctors will go to support this fallacy. Millionaires who went to college for 10 years to do their jobs risked their professional reputations versus correcting mistakes.

A series of talking points underpinning the modus operandi of Ascension's patient dumping procedures in these facilities may be highlighted in this latest case.

I encountered far larger issues of medical fraud and corruption in my dealings with medical staff and facilities around the Birmingham, Alabama area in recent years. I believe much of the fortunes and millions / billions of dollars in profit enjoyed by Ascension and their associates are underpinned by a mountain of wrongfully treated patients who suffered at the hands of this medical provider's care. I almost did not survive multiple misdiagnoses I encountered going into their ER and attempts to have Ascension account and correct it errors were met with denials and excuses as to their responsibility. I highlight many of these, even recording phone exchanges in other videos on my Youtube Channel.

I replay My October. 13th, 2021 phone call to Ascension CEO Joseph Impicciche who's hospital oversight network includes Ascension Saint Vincent’s East Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama.

00:19and utter chaos from the second you walk into the door.
00:23That's how one nurse described what it's like inside a Nashville Ascension Hospital following
00:31a cyber attack.
00:33Wednesday, May 15, March, one week since the hospital system was hit, impacting locations
00:39across Tennessee as operations continue to be disrupted.
00:45Nurses are now having to use manual and paper-based systems.

00:59and 36,000 affiliated providers.
01:03Everything from charting and ordering tests to the way labs are sent and scans read has
01:10been impacted, according to health care workers.
01:13Nurse Erica says, we are a week in now at this and there is no end in sight.
01:19They are saying it's very tense at work.
01:22The atmosphere nurses are worried about patient safety and also about their own nursing license
01:29because all the safety checks that we have in place have basically been eliminated.
01:36Some nurses told News 2 they have to override medications from their automatic dispensing cabinet.
01:44It seemed like there wasn't a plan for when the system went down.
01:48One patient family member told News Channel 2, there's a lot I can say about this cyber attack.
01:55I was a patient repeatedly at Ascension facilities and doctors and nurses.
02:01I was patient dumped and misdiagnosed.
02:05Please go watch the 60 to 60 hours video documentation on what happened to me on my YouTube channel
02:13to understand some of the bad business practices of Ascension.
02:19I believe Ascension creates enemies daily through its corrupt business practices.
02:25Its medical staff generate unnecessary risk because they do bad business where profits and money come first,
02:36not the lives and care of the patients they deal with.
02:40In my own case, narcissistic millionaires and doctors turned trying to find out the truth of my injury
02:48into a pissing contest.
02:51Cyber attacks and investigation by the United States government, which is ongoing against Ascension,
02:58is no surprise.
03:00Ascension has many enemies.
03:03I had a close family member who worked at an Ascension hospital as a nurse for 20 years.
03:10A few weeks after I brought the details of my case,
03:14the first time to the attention of Ascension in St. Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham,
03:21that family member lost their job.
03:24There's reports in the news media repeatedly where Ascension buys hospitals and other medical providers
03:33and bleeds them dry.
03:35They run the business into the ground.
03:37Services degrade and eventually they close those hospitals and practices.
03:44I tried to bring the details of my own situation to Ascension CEO Joseph Impicciccay in 2021.
03:55And my phone call was never returned.
03:58You've reached the Ascension System Office General Mailbox.
04:01After the tone, leave a detailed message and someone will respond to your call.
04:09I'm trying to reach CEO Joseph Impicciccay, and he can contact me at that number.
04:15And I have a message that I would like to give to Ascension.
04:19Between 2018 and 2019, I was an emergency department patient at Ascension St. Vincent's East Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama.
04:28I believe I had broken my neck.
04:30I had an x-ray, two CT scans, and later an MRI looked at by Ascension St. Vincent's doctors.
04:38Each time they had told me I had no injuries in this area, I knew their diagnosis was an error
04:44as my condition worsened.
04:47The area became infected and infested with parasites.
04:50By summer of 2019, I almost died.
04:53I obtained my medical records from your hospital along with the x-ray, CT, MRI imagery, and discovered the truth
04:59of my injury.
05:00I had broken bone in the underside of my skull in the area of the condylar canal and occipital condyle.
05:06How the doctors could admit such a large and serious injury over multiple hospital visits is inexcusable.
05:12I believe some element of organized corruption may exist in this hospital.
05:17I have compiled over 10 hours of video documentation on what happened to me on my YouTube channel.
05:24And the name of the channel is My Medical Nightmare.
05:28I believe I may have been a victim of patient dumping in the course of my seeking treatment, which is
05:35a violation of EMTALA, E-M-T-A-L-A.
05:38When I told medical staff associated with Ascension about my discovery, that I had been misdiagnosed repeatedly,
05:45I was personally attacked and my psychological state was challenged.
05:50And this is reflected in medical records I obtained later.
05:54I could not obtain proper treatment or diagnosis for this injury because doctors and nurses that I would subsequently have
06:04encounters with
06:05would only entertain what the erroneous Ascension ER findings were.
06:09My mother, who was a nurse for 20 years, had the misfortune of working in an Ascension hospital
06:16when I questioned my MRR findings involving St. Vincent's Ambulatory Healthcare Network, LLC,
06:22and Dr. Michael Brandt Ruff, MD, radiologist, in March 2019.
06:28My mother, who was a nurse for 20 years and worked in the Ascension hospital,
06:32she was terminated from her job there around the same time.
06:36And so this phone call, I challenge the misdiagnosis of Ascension St. Vincent's East Hospital, Birmingham, Alabama,
06:44and I challenge the policy of this hospital.
06:48And Mr. Impecicke, I think you need to look into this, please.
06:52Please listen to my message, look into what I'm saying, and you're free to contact me.
