00:07This summer, enter the realm of the supernatural.
00:13No movie has more fun.
00:15Hey, kitty!
00:17How do you like that, little pussy?
00:19You want to be to me!
00:21You aren't the weakest link.
00:23Goodbye.
00:24Only 17.
00:25Now at 18, he's already 5-0 with 5 KOs as a pro.
00:28Here's why he's considered a rising superstar.
00:34Introducing Francisco Pancito Bojado.
00:44Bojado looking to finish Batters Birling.
00:50What a barrage by the Mexican Olympian.
00:54Oh, another big left hook by Bojado.
00:58And Francisco Pancito Bojado marches on.
01:06The baby-faced assassin.
01:08A grand total of 10 minutes, 57 seconds, and five professional fights.
01:14The celebrated young Pancito Bojado displays his talents again as it takes on Glenn Ford in a scheduled six-round
01:20lightweight affair.
01:23From Guyana, South America, living in Flatbush, Brooklyn.
01:27Here he is, former Guyade's featherweight champ, Glenn Ford.
01:33Only three fights, though, in his last six years of action.
01:36Blamed it on the age-old promotional problems.
01:38The notion that people were ducking him because of his awkward southpaw style.
01:42Hasn't fought since February 2000, an action-packed draw with Gary Vieto, who came in 21-0-1.
01:49Bobby, he's aggressive, busy, decent power and speed.
01:53Takes a good shot.
01:53Is he a step up in class for Bojado?
01:55We know he is a slight step up in class, and although he's been inactive, he has shown in the
01:59past to have a pretty good chin.
02:00Keeps a terrific pace, but he's a step up in difficulty, Steve.
02:03He has a very awkward style.
02:05He has shown a pretty good chin, throws a lot of punches.
02:07He's been 10 or 12 rounds more than once.
02:09So, if he can convince his game in the sixth round, he can put some pressure on the youngster.
02:15Well, Ford represents Bojado's first southpaw opponent of the pros.
02:19He fought several as an amateur.
02:21In fact, the Russian who ended Bojado's Olympic experience was a left-hander.
02:26Main event COO Gary Shaw tells us they're trying not to rush Bojado, but give him different styles.
02:32Bojado, a gym rat, wants to fight every two weeks.
02:35Some Olympic music to bring on.
02:41The former Olympian, Francisco Ponceito Bojado, uncanny instincts and maturity for a boxer so new to the pro scene.
02:49That's his little brother, Angel, in front of him doing some shadow boxing.
02:55But here he is, the crowd already into him.
02:59Blue-chip prospect Ponceito Bojado from L.A. by way of Mexico.
03:04Continues to be on a very fast track.
03:06His second fight in 34 days.
03:09Off his third first-round KO, he hasn't gone past three rounds.
03:14The first 2,000 Olympian to be ranked.
03:16The WBC just made him number 30 lightweight.
03:19Didn't take long, just five months.
03:21Bobby, where's Bojado as compared to his peer group from the amateurs?
03:25Well, I'll tell you what, Steve, if he's not at the very top, he's certainly very near the top.
03:29I can't find a flaw in his game.
03:30He can box, he can punch, he stays calm, he shows poise, patience, and a demeanor of someone who would
03:36be much older and much more experienced.
03:37The only thing we haven't seen is his chin really tested.
03:40That will come in time.
03:41But for my money right now, he is the goods.
03:46So there he is, Ponceito Bojado, ready for his sixth pro fight.
03:50Let's check the numbers as we go to the tail of the tape.
03:54Bojado, who turned 18 last month, a decade younger than Ford.
03:57The height almost even.
03:59A slight reach advantage for Ford.
04:01At yesterday's weigh-in, Bojado 136.
04:03Ford 135.
04:05Tonight, Bojado 140.
04:06Ford 141.
04:07And the key rules for this fight, there's no standing eight count, no three knockdown rule.
04:12It is in effect, I should say.
04:14A fighter cannot be saved by the bell except in the last round.
04:16If an accidental headbutt occurs before the end of the third round, the fighters ruled a technical draw.
04:21If it happens after the end of round three, they go to the scorecard.
04:26So here at the Uncas Pavilion, we're getting ready for Ponceito Bojado versus Glenn Ford.
04:30The formal introductions from our ring announcer, Jimmy Lennon Jr.
04:37Ladies and gentlemen, a very good evening to you.
04:41And we welcome you to the Uncas Pavilion here at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut.
04:46As we have a big night of action coming away.
04:49And it's all brought to you by Main Events and Showtime Championship Boxing.
04:55Along with Budweiser, the undisputed king of beers.
05:00Tonight's action, ladies and gentlemen, is actioned by the Mohegan Tribal Gaming Commission, the athletic unit.
05:05The unit chief is Jerry Boyle.
05:07Physicians at ringside, Dr. Michael Schwartz and Dr. Joseph Carpentieri.
05:12Time keepers at the bell also keeping count of the knockdowns, Lou Dell and Mike Murtha.
05:16Introducing to you our three judges scoring this bout from ringside.
05:21From Bronxville, New York, George DeGabriel.
05:23From Avon, Connecticut, Glenn Feldman.
05:26And from Falmouth, Massachusetts, Donald O'Neill.
05:29And the referee in charge of this bout from East Haven, Connecticut, Joseph Cusano.
05:36All right, fans, here we go with a lightweight special attraction scheduled for six rounds of boxing.
05:44Introducing to you first on my left, he is fighting out of the blue corner, wearing white trunks with black
05:49trim.
05:50He is fighting out of Brooklyn, New York by way of Georgetown, Guyana.
05:56His weight at the lightweight limit of 135 pounds.
05:59His record stands at nine wins, five losses and two draws with four of his wins coming by way of
06:06knockout.
06:06Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the former Guyanese featherweight champion.
06:11Introducing Glenn, the Iceman 4.
06:15Let's go, baby.
06:17Let's go.
06:18And his opponent across the ring on my right, fighting out of the red corner, this six-round attraction,
06:25wearing black trunks with silver trim, hailing from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.
06:30He weighed in at 136 pounds.
06:34He is undefeated in his campaign to the ring with five wins, no losses.
06:38All five wins coming by way of knockout.
06:41Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the youngest member of the 2000 Mexican Olympic team.
06:47Introducing the baby-faced assassin, Francisco Panchito Bojado.
06:59Once again, Joseph Cusano, a referee, now to give instructions.
07:08When I say break, I want you to stop throwing punches, put your hands up and protect yourself,
07:13take a full step back, okay?
07:16Expect to act like professionals in there.
07:18Trunks is low right here, where the legal blow is, okay?
07:24I want you to touch gloves, touch gloves.
07:32Bobby, let's get your keys to victory.
07:34All right, Steve, let's start with Panchito Bojado.
07:36Number one, use his overall skills.
07:38He is so skillful at every facet of the game.
07:40It's amazing at such a young age.
07:42Also, the left hook to the body, big for him.
07:44It likes to set up the stuff upstairs.
07:46And lastly, box smart.
07:47This is a very unusual style he's about to face.
07:52Glenn Ford, he needs to push Bojado backward.
07:54As most good offensive fighters don't fight as well going backwards, Bojado is the same.
07:59Next up, he has to use that right hook to the body.
08:01Dig into the youngster's body.
08:02See if he's ever been tested there.
08:04And lastly, be effective.
08:05As I say in his awkwardness, he is an unorthodox southpaw.
08:08Angles that Bojado has never seen.
08:10This has the elements for action.
08:13Because of the two styles, the southpaw forward, a pressure fighter who'll try to force Bojado back
08:18where he is not as dangerous.
08:20But Bojado with the quick hands, takes his time, picks his spots.
08:24Doesn't waste a lot of movement.
08:26Economical and accurate with his punches.
08:28Terrific combination of speed and power.
08:30Goes upstairs and down and has the excellent left hook.
08:33And immediately to open up, we saw Ford try and use that right hook to the body of Bojado.
08:39Bojado told us yesterday all he needs is a few seconds to figure his opponent out.
08:44And he knows how to finish.
08:45We've seen that.
08:47Ford's best bet may be to take this fight deep.
08:50Bojado has never been past three, as mentioned.
08:52Ford's gone ten times, ten rounds on eight occasions.
08:55And he's even been 12 rounds, Stephen.
08:57If he can condense that fight game into six good rounds and force the youngster to pass
09:01round three where he's never been, it could be interesting.
09:04Yeah, he feels his experience there will impact favorably for him.
09:07But on that subject, Bobby, is it strange to suddenly fight a six-rounder?
09:11If you're Ford, after, you know, fighting mostly tens and clubs, do you look to speed things up?
09:15And I mean, I think I certainly would.
09:17I've never done it once I got to tens.
09:18There were always tens or twelves.
09:19I've never gone back to eight or six.
09:21But I would think that if I'd been ten good hard rounds, and I'm only fighting for six,
09:25train for ten and lay it all out in six, it's got to be at your advantage.
09:57It's got to be at your advantage, but it's got to be at your advantage.
09:58And if you do that, he's not being very active, and most fighters that are orthodox,
10:02even if you can switch, don't normally switch as well.
10:07Well, if Ford can manage to get out of the first round, it'll be a moral victory because
10:13three of the five fights of Bojado have ended in the first.
10:18Well, I noticed that Bojado's also showing a lot of respect here early on.
10:21He's not just coming out at four blazing, looking for an early knockout.
10:25He's actually watching, biding his time.
10:27He's taking more than just a few seconds to figure out Ford.
10:31Ford's second fight on American soil, like most fighters from Guyana.
10:35Went right, a tough, good boxer, nice speed and movement.
10:38As we've been talking about, an awkward, strong southpaw.
10:41But, you know, is he on the level of a Panchito Bojado?
10:44He's always pressing forward.
10:46He's a good right hook.
10:48But has a tendency to throw wide, looping lefts.
10:51And Bojado can come right up the middle on Ford if he sees the opener.
10:57Bojado's skills are obviously a big factor, but his speed is also going to cause Ford some real problems.
11:03Because Bojado has all the skills and he's getting off first and getting there.
11:06And Bojado's waiting.
11:07And on Ford's behalf, he does have heart and grit and a very good chin.
11:24Here's how things got started before the fight actually officially got underway.
11:29Check this out, a little bump and run.
11:31A little bump and run by Ford, maybe trying to intimidate the young Bojado.
11:35So, I just think the bottom's far too confident to let that bottom move a little bit.
11:39A little cruises.
11:41Con la izquierda por arriba.
11:43Pero duce el ya.
11:43Duce el ya.
11:44Usa la philosophy.
11:45Use philosophy.
11:46Don't get hit.
11:47Okay, baby?
11:48Don't get hit.
11:48Use your philosophy.
11:50Relax.
11:50Relax.
11:51Okay?
11:56Relax.
11:57Relax.
11:57Relax.
11:58Water.
12:00Maltis.
12:00Give me the maltis.
12:05Cruz.
12:07No, I can't.
12:09No, I can't.
12:10No, I can't.
12:10No, I can't.
12:10No, I can't.
12:11No.
12:11Bojado came into the ring apparently haunting Glenn Ford and Ford did not appreciate that.
12:18But what you saw in that bump was the result of Ford's feelings.
12:22And you hear the very cool, calm, composed approach of Alfonso Marquez in Bojado's corner.
12:28You said use your philosophy.
12:30Hit and don't get hit, which is a great philosophy in this game if it works
12:35If you can
12:36Make it work
12:40Philosophy is one thing execution
12:44Natural comparison to a hot oh might be Fernando Marcus another young Mexican Olympian
12:51But after the loss to Trinidad early in his career some might feel he was put in with Trinidad too
12:55soon
12:56You wonder if those people will take that to heart
13:00Manager Shelly Finkel said he can't compare about how to embark as they have different styles
13:07Time will tell eventually we'll find out exactly what's here or not
13:13This kid's already being
13:16Projected as a great one as he jumps all over four once again that speed being such a big difference
13:21Ford not reacting well with quick hands punchy to behind
13:27That's a great point of view
13:29Ford at nine five and two with four knockouts
13:33And activity has been a problem
13:35Hasn't fought since February 2000
13:38So hard to stay sharp and focused and in the zone when you're not fighting your skills are not necessarily
13:43eroding
13:43But they're not staying home
13:48Told me he was not named after the movie star
13:52Glenn Ford who spells his last name differently this
13:56Glenn Ford has an E at the end
14:05So Bahado quite unparacteristically in the second round has never been past three
14:15The crowd reacts to anything Bahado does there's a good right hand by Bahado he gets in and out quickly
14:21And there's a left hand by Bahado to the chest area
14:25It's starting to heat up a little bit
14:26I think you're gonna see the fight continue that way
14:28But Gio's finding his timing against an awkward southpaw
14:32His first southpaw as a pro
14:33He was beat by a southpaw in the Olympics
14:38And that was a Russian who eliminated him in the second round
14:44He thought that it was the computer that did him in as a lot of fighters do in the Olympics
14:51I think that the computer scoring is horrible
14:54I think they need to rethink that whole process
14:57But then again they don't care what I think
15:00How do you really feel about this?
15:02Final seconds round two
15:04We value your opinion
15:08Bahado not your typical Mexican style face first fight
15:11He's got more of a boxing stylus
15:13And he nails it with a right hand
15:15And now the aggressive nature puts Gord down
15:22Five
15:23Six
15:24Seven
15:26Eight
15:27Nine
15:27He's not gonna make it up
15:29It's over
15:29It was a tremendous left hook after a nice right hit
15:33It got it started, Steve
15:34Right on the button and the streak stays alive
15:38Francisco Ponceito Bahado
15:39Once again in explosive fashion
15:41This time it took two rounds
15:44Just under two
15:45To make it to 6-0 with six knockouts
15:51Now the other punch you know
15:54Now the good punch you know
16:02It's over now
16:09Let's go
16:09Brink side position
16:10Check the eyes of
16:12Guyana's Glenn Ford
16:13Who really took a weapon there at the end of the second
16:17That's nice
16:17So the streak stays alive for Ponceito
16:24Who turned 18 last month
16:31I can't wait till his kid brother who's right there
16:33On left your screen
16:34Angel
16:35He turns 8 in December
16:37They're gonna have him starting to fight soon
16:38And they're grooming him for the 2012 Olympics representing Mexico
16:42He might be retired by the time he makes it to showtime
16:45That's right
16:46I'll tell you what
16:47I'll have gray hair
16:48This kid might have 19 wins
16:51Bahado by the time he's 19 years old
16:54At this particular place
16:55You know he shows such incredible patience
16:58Waits, watches, marks his time
17:01Finds the spots
17:02Makes adjustments very well
17:04And again he's moving up a little at a time
17:05This is a good knockout for him
17:09We're gonna take a look at the knockout
17:10You're gonna see him switch here
17:11Goes from southpaw back to right
17:13He lands a nice right hand right there
17:15Which shakes Ford up a little bit
17:17Then he works on the other side with the left hook there underneath
17:19Here comes a big one
17:20He misses that one
17:21This is the one
17:22That lands right on the butt
17:24With the left
17:25The left hook?
17:26Is that the lefty learning?
17:28Yeah
17:28With the left
17:29Again, starting as a southpaw
17:31He switches to righty
17:32Maybe he was the one effective in his awkwardness
17:34Because Ford had no chance of figuring him out
17:36And the speed
17:37Crisp right hand
17:38Very accurate
17:39They start to dig that hook in
17:41That one lands off the side of the head
17:43One goes over his head
17:46And here comes right underneath
17:50Beautiful execution
17:52Super slow motion
17:53We'll watch those punches land
17:55Watch the quick switch
17:56There's the left hip
17:57Foot goes forward
17:57And there's the right hand
17:58On the jaw
17:59Wobbles Ford
18:01Now he stays in the orthodox stance
18:02Working the left hook from that angle
18:03Then to the body
18:05Right hand again
18:06One that goes over the top
18:07And this one lands right on the button
18:08And there's nowhere but floor
18:10To Ford
18:12He may not have won a gold at the Olympics
18:15But he certainly has a golden future
18:18Francisco
18:18Panchito
18:19Bojado
18:20Golden green
18:21Green as in money
18:26He gets the hug from Glenn Ford
18:29Good to see that Ford
18:30Is able to get up
18:31And he's okay
18:32Nice kid
18:33As we had a chance to talk to him yesterday
18:35Let's get the official time
18:36From rig announcer
18:37Jimmy Lennon Jr.
18:40Ladies and gentlemen
18:42This bout has been stopped
18:43At the end of round number two
18:45A referee in charge
18:46Joseph Cusano
18:48Reaches the count of ten
18:49The winner by way of knockout
18:51And still undefeated
18:53The baby faced assassin
18:55Francisco
18:57Panchito
18:59Bojado
19:04Well Bojado goes to six at oh six
19:06Knockouts that first round one the
19:08Judge actually had sported
19:12Ten nine four
19:14Interesting
19:16All right
19:17So Panchito Bojado does it again
19:19Perhaps on his way to joining the
19:21Lengthy list of world champions
19:24From Mexico
19:24Someday
19:25Coming up next
19:27It'll be quick
19:28Elusive
19:28Confident
19:29Zab Judah
19:30Set to defend his
19:31IVF junior welterweight crown
19:33As he squares off
19:33With number one contender
19:35Alan Vester
19:35Of Denmark
19:37We take you into the
19:39Dressing room
19:40Of the champ
19:40Zab Judah
19:41Always loose
19:42Judah hasn't fought
19:43The caliber of opposition
19:44As Tosh Gizhou
19:45Vester while unbeaten
19:47Hasn't fought anyone
19:47Close to Judah's caliber
19:49Judah has
19:51Shown deceptive power
19:52Speed and boxing skills
19:53Are his main assets
19:56He's shown determination
19:57Coming off the campus
19:58Twice to win
19:59But on occasion
20:00Seemed content to
20:01You know
20:02Simply do enough to
20:03Chalk up the W
20:04We'll see how he responds
20:05Tonight
20:05In his tune-up
20:07Pursuit
20:07Set for post-fight reaction
20:09Let's go to Jim Gray
20:10Of the ring
20:10Jim
20:11All right
20:12Thank you very much Steve
20:13Panchito
20:13He went southpaw there
20:15Which is a bit of a surprise
20:16He hadn't done that since
20:16Your amateur days
20:17Was that the first time
20:18You did that professionally
20:19Yeah that was
20:19Well no this is actually
20:21My second time
20:21I remember doing it
20:22In El Paso
20:23But I just did it
20:23For a couple of seconds
20:25This time I had to switch
20:26Southpaw because I mean
20:27He was a southpaw
20:28Awkward style
20:29So I had to pace myself
20:31A little bit more
20:31With all of these
20:32Quick fights
20:34It's good to be getting
20:34Experienced
20:35But at what point
20:36Do you think you want to
20:36Start taking on some
20:37Contenders and take on
20:38Some ten round fights
20:39Well right now
20:40These guys that I'm fighting
20:41Are not bad
20:42Is just that I've been
20:43Training hard
20:44I think I have a
20:45Lot more
20:46A little bit more
20:46Experience as an amateur
20:48But hey the competition
20:49Stuff
20:50And I'm coming out
20:51With the victory
20:51And you know the good lord
20:53Only knows how far
20:54I'm going to go
20:55But I feel
20:56That I'm a good fighter
20:57I feel that I'm a natural fighter
20:58So we're going to go a long way
20:59Panchito let's take a look
21:00At the monitor right down here
21:01And you can tell us
21:02What happened here with Ford
21:03It was about 11 seconds
21:04Left in the round
21:05Describe the action for us
21:06Well I was
21:06I fainted him right there
21:07And I just tried to get him
21:08With a right
21:09I wanted to get a body shot
21:10I don't remember if I did
21:11Get him with a body shot
21:13And then I just seen him
21:14That he was hurt
21:15And I just went forward
21:16And finished him
21:18That was a hit
21:19That was a hit
21:20That was a good right
21:21Right there
21:22As we take a look at this
21:23From overhead
21:25Panchito
21:25Did he surprise you at all
21:27In the first round
21:28It was pretty game
21:29Yeah he did surprise me
21:30Because I was going to
21:31I thought he was going to
21:31Come out more wild
21:33He kind of pushed me
21:34After the battle
21:35After the first round
21:36And we had a little
21:37A little face off at the Wayne
21:39So we came to fight
21:41And we came to bring it on
21:42Well it seemed as though
21:43You taunted him a bit
21:44Before the fight
21:44You came over to his corner
21:45And then he pushed you
21:46Were you annoyed that he pushed you
21:47When you came to meet the referee
21:49At the center of the ring?
21:49I was upset
21:50But you know
21:51I just tried controlling myself
21:52And I think that's what
21:53Got me the victory
21:54Because I didn't lose my cool
21:55What next?
21:56We know that little angel down here
