00:55Well, we start with must-win, Barry.
00:57DeZern has proven he's as tough as anybody.
01:00But he's winless in his last two.
01:02He has to win this one.
01:04Nothing easy.
01:05One advantage DeZern has over Greer, he's at least recently faced better opposition.
01:09And against that opposition, he's been competitive.
01:12And finally, power deficit.
01:13Since moving up in class, DeZern hasn't scored any KO.
01:16On paper, at least, Greer is the bigger puncher.
01:25Well, tonight, Joshua Don't Blink Greer Jr. of Chicago makes his third Showbox appearance as well.
01:33He first caught our attention back in March of last year when he faced undefeated prospect James Gordon Smith.
01:41And he produced a memorable finish.
01:48He put Smith to sleep in round number six.
01:55Greer returned to Showbox in July when he dominated Leroy Davila, winning by TKO in the fifth round.
02:00But since then, he's stopped two more opponents.

05:09Greer fighting a bit higher than his best weight, and will probably drop back down to 118 or bantamweight next time out.

05:31And I think we spoke earlier of the fact that these two had a little bit of a dust-up at the weigh-in yesterday.
05:36And Zurn actually threw a punch at Greer, and Greer answered.

05:48They build up all this anger and things that happen like that in the weigh-ins all the time.

06:21And Greer won in the Chicago Gloves title, but not much national amateur experience.

06:30But Greer, interestingly, more fights and more rounds.
06:33Greer, by his own admission, a product of the mean streets of Chicago, started to go wrong as a kid.
06:43Matter of fact, he got shot at a point-blank range, and the bullet whizzed by his head.
06:49He says, basically, that changed my life.
06:51He got in the gym straight and narrow ever since, and he's headed for what he hopes is a championship.
06:56All right, now, Zurn's idea of what he wants to do in there is pretty clear.
07:03He's trying to bully the naturally smaller Greer.
07:07Well, Zurn said in the fighter meetings he was going to break him down.
07:11He's got the right idea.
07:13So far, you know, he's coming forward.
07:16He's pushing him.
07:17He's putting his punches together.
07:20Throwing some good body shots.

21:50greer landed the bigger shots but discern did what he wanted to in terms of pushing

32:40we have talked about him he has talked about himself quite a prospect though he is and and
32:46from the little bit we know of him he is not the kind of fighter who's going to be wowed by
32:51the moments he has fought on national television before on uh on cbs sports network but this he knows this
32:58is a huge step up in class and he certainly seems ready for it and mason menard knows that he represents
33:04a bigger step up in class for haynie yeah this is kind of mason menard's moment in the sun
33:09he's not going to be awed by haney as we've said we've seen him on showbox a couple of times and
33:13he's handled guys where he was the b-side of the car yeah
33:19question is is he fighting a special fighter in haney that's what we're looking to find out tonight

33:32we're kind of took around seven off when barry's 100. welcome back to the fight
33:49this during is showing why he's such a good tv fighter
33:52you know is he ever going to be a junior featherweight world champion very unlikely
33:57but he sure makes for exciting fights yeah he does he's always there makes you work if you're

34:21i'd like to see greer do a better job of preventing discern from crowding him like this

39:32often see that a guy who gets more knockouts as his career goes along and he fights better guys but
39:39that's been the case and not only that as the rounds win in the later rounds he still carries his power
39:43he's very explosive with his power so that shows uh that that's the kid that's going to make some
