00:00Two original illustrations from the Rudard Kipling's The Jungle Book were lost for over a century have been discovered.
00:10I love these kind of stories where like people who have had something passed down or it's been in their
00:15house for years and they're like, I wonder what this is.
00:17Well, two people in London realized that two of their pictures that have been passed through their family and been
00:23hanging in their home for years and years and years were original illustrations to the original Jungle Book.
00:30Now, there's an original set of 16 of these illustrations, right?
00:34So the movie that you and I grew up watching is based on a story that was written, you know,
00:39100 years ago, right?
00:40Yeah.
00:41Oh, now I know that.
00:42I didn't know it either, right?
00:44So 16 illustrations were original.
00:47They've only discovered six of the 12, two of which were just discovered over the weekend.
00:52Wow.
00:53So they're still missing half of them.
00:54And four other surviving illustrations are now split between private collections, the Natural History Museum, and the National Trust.
01:03So these are really, really big and important illustrations and people are still looking for them.
01:11So London auctioners are offering both works at $20,000 each.
01:16But now they're saying, well, I'm not sure if we're going to actually sell them.
01:20We're not sure what to do.
01:21The watercolors were created back in 1903.
01:25I mean, some are even saying that it's a bare necessity to find these other books.
01:30But now we're looking at these different ones.
01:31We'll get back to it.
