00:00Yeah, so time to give you a little update on what's been going on in my life, you guys,
00:03aside from my friends getting arrested in Long Beach for open container, which was amazing.
00:09I almost just played the breaking news thing.
00:11Donnie.
00:12Breaking cancer news.
00:14It's weird.
00:15No, listen, but if you read my latest blog post, which I put up on our website, theandysommershow.com,
00:20then you'll see that, like, I am, so I was diagnosed a few weeks ago with breast cancer,
00:25and it's a thing, right?
00:27Like, you get that call, and the radiologist told me on the phone, like, okay, what we
00:34found is definitely cancer, and it's like, that is, it just rips your insides out because
00:39it's terrifying, and you don't know, right, but, like, we caught it early.
00:44I do my mammograms yearly.
00:46Like, if you haven't scheduled yours yet, please get it done because early detection totally
00:51saves lives, which is why I talk about it as though I stubbed my toe, right?
00:57Like, that's how I am approaching this.
00:59I'm getting amazing care.
01:01Right.
01:01And I feel like when you're afraid to use the word cancer because it gives everybody the
01:08bad feelings, that gives that word and that disease more power than I ever want it to
01:14have.
01:14True.
01:15So I'm not stopping.
01:17Like, I'm using cancer all the time.
01:19And honestly, I sometimes can use it to my advantage, too.
01:23Right.
01:23You know, like, when my son wanted me to kill a bug in the basement, I was like, buddy,
01:28I can't have cancer.
01:30I can't do this.
01:31And then my husband said, don't look at me.
01:33My wife has cancer.
01:34I have to take care of her.
01:35Right.
01:36So Leonard had to kill his own bug in the basement.
01:38You know, like.
01:38This is the beauty of your journey thus far, Andy, is you have been so open about your
01:44journey, but also recognizing that not everybody is like you, right?
01:48Yeah.
01:48Some people go about their diagnosis and their treatment in different ways.
01:52For sure.
01:53And this is just the way you choose to approach this diagnosis.
01:57And I think it's commendable.
01:58And there's so many different ways to go about it.
02:00And I think it's amazing that you're sharing it.
02:02And as lighthearted as you are as well.
02:04You know, it's interesting because when I when I went to get the biopsy, so it turns
02:08out that in this radiology department, they do biopsies at the same time.
02:13So all the women who are in there waiting, wearing our pink robes, waiting for our names
02:20to be called.
02:21We're looking around at each other and it's somber because we're all in there for the
02:25same reason.
02:25Like there we've got lumps and they think we have cancer.
02:29We're not not a great feeling.
02:30Um, so I went and had my my biopsy done and it took a very long time because I had
02:37four
02:37of them.
02:38Um, and when I and but I'm like, you know, okay, this is done now.
02:41It was, you know, I watched the whole thing.
02:43I learned a whole lot about biology and stuff.
02:46And I'm coming out chatting with the nurse and I recognize one of the women sitting in
02:51the waiting room and we make eye contact.
02:54And, um, and I was like, hey, how are you?
02:56And she was like, well, not great because I'm here.
02:59And I was like, yeah, you know, the stinks.
03:02And, and I think it was at that moment that I thought this is not how I'm ever going to
03:05approach this.
03:06Right.
03:06And, and, and not, I don't mean to shame her at all for feeling as badly as she did about
03:11the situation that she was in because it is terrifying.
03:14Right.
03:15Like, and, and I don't know what else she's got on her plate.
03:18Um, but I thought I, at that moment I was like, nope, nope.
03:23I am.
03:23She doesn't even know whether she has cancer or not.
03:25And she's already like, you know, like holding the weight of the world on her shoulders.
03:30And I thought, I'm not doing it.
03:31I'm just not doing that.
03:32So it turns out she doesn't have cancer.
03:34So bravo, super happy for her, like able to move on.
03:38And I know that she's my prayer warrior right now.
03:41And she has, you know, she checks in with me on the reg and she's praying for me and giving
03:45me strength and I'm feeling every ounce of all of that.
03:48So I thank everybody for reaching out.
03:50Um, I, I, I hope that you're able to continue following my journey and, and if it encourages
03:55you to do anything good for yourself, it's to stay strong, right?
03:59Be healthy.
04:00Make sure that you're getting your mammograms or whatever it is that you need to get checked.
04:04Guys, I don't know what you need to be poked and prodded with.
04:07No, we have to get checked.
04:08Yeah.
04:09Yeah.
04:09But you should make sure that you're getting that done, Donnie.
04:12Yeah.
04:12Well, well, there's colon.
04:14What are they?
04:15I had a colonoscopy the day before I had my, yeah, colonoscopy, there's testicular cancer
04:21on guys that you have to get checked.
04:23I have two cysts on my back that I'm getting checked out.
04:26Um, they're not cancers, but just go get it done.
04:29Yes.
04:29I put everything off because I'd rather just not know.
04:32Right.
04:32That's how my dad was.
04:34That type of person where I'm like, oh, okay, well, if I have that, I guess I'm just going
04:37to live with that.
04:38And, um, no.
04:40Until you don't.
04:40And, and it was honestly you that made me get these cysts checked because you're like,
04:45why are you waiting?
04:46Yeah.
04:46What's the wait for?
04:47And because I look so muscular now, I should probably.
04:50And they're going to stand out even more.
04:52Yeah.
04:52And then it's like, oh, that guy would be so hot if he didn't have bumps on his back.
04:55Right.
04:55I know.
04:55I look like a ninja turtle with these things on my back.
04:58You're like wearing a shell.
04:59I am.
05:00Yeah.
05:00Yeah.
05:01It's awkward.
05:01It is weird.
05:02So get checked.
05:03Yeah.
05:03Get it checked.
05:04And highly recommend TheAndySummerShow.com to read the amazing blogs you are writing
05:10up there.
05:11They're super powerful.
05:12So these updates on the radio are great, of course, but those blogs go even more detailed.
