00:00Let me ask you, first of all, do you believe this deal for Soto that the Mets can just

00:12keep spending money after that deal, where that guy's going to make $139,000 a day, $51

00:18million a year, and it goes on and on for 15 years, he can get out in five, but I do

00:24not understand the financials of how you could pay one guy that much money and then be able

00:32to just keep paying whoever else you want to on top of it.

00:34I don't believe it.

00:35Yeah.

00:36I mean, you know, we knew when Steve Cohen was approved by the other owners to purchase

00:41the Mets, the fear was he could make George Steinbrenner look like a penny pincher because

00:48he has so much money and he wanted to win and he wants to make the Mets New York's team.

00:55We saw a little bit of it early, Scott, two years ago when they signed Max Scherzer and

01:00Justin Verlander to those deals, and obviously that blew up.

01:05Both of them were past their prime and it didn't work out.

01:08So the Mets regrouped last year and here we are with this gazillion dollar deal with Juan

01:14Soto. It surpasses Shohei Otani's deal.

01:19So, you know, we'll see the you know, I'm interested to see what comes next, because

01:25obviously that's a lot of money to one player.

01:30They haven't re-signed Pete Alonso yet.

01:32As of right now, Mark Vientos might be the first baseman.

01:36But, you know, you got Soto and you've got Francisco Lindor on roster and that's a pretty

01:40good, you know, one, two atop your lineup.

01:42But, you know, if they lose Alonso, you know, that's that's 34 home runs removed from last

01:49year's lineup. So the bottom line is you've got to have enough money to spread around

01:53and we'll see if Cohen does it.

01:55Everybody believes he will, you know, but it's still a work in progress and we'll see

02:01what happens next.

02:03Do you believe that the Astros would trade Tucker to the Yankees?

02:08I said that they would based on they're not in their division and they might face them

02:12once in a playoff series and they don't believe that one guy can haunt them or terrorize

02:18them if they traded him.

02:20I could see not trading him in the division, but against better judgment, I think they

02:26would trade him to the Yankees.

02:28I do, too.

02:28I mean, I think if the Yankees come up with the best offer, then they'll trade him to

02:33the Yankees. And you know what?

02:36In a perverse way, who knows, I mean, you never know in baseball, even when a monster

02:43thing like Juan Soto signing with the Mets, when that happens, you know, we all give our

02:47instant analysis.

02:48But baseball is one of those games that sometimes it takes a little while to see how

02:52things turn out.

02:54I'll tell you this, Kyle Tucker to the Yankees, if that were to happen.

02:58That could be a much better thing for the Yankees than them spending a ton of money to

03:04retain Juan Soto.

03:06Tucker will fit beautifully into that lineup.

03:08He's a better base runner.

03:10Defensively, he's better.

03:12And I think, you know, look, Juan Soto, there's only one guy that gets on base and hits

03:19like him. But he does have some limitations, which also makes me a little surprised at

03:26this 700 plus million dollar deal, because, I mean, it's not like we're talking a five

03:30to a player here.

03:32So we'll see. Yes, I think Tucker could go to the Yankees, maybe.

03:35And I think it could end up long term being a better play for the Yankees than retaining

03:40Juan Soto at that price.
