00:00To be honest, defeating Mexico more so by a five-goal margin was an almost impossible task for under-17
00:07men, even at home.
00:08And coach Randolph Boyce, well away of the tall task, was focused on the overall development of his players.
00:14I felt good in terms of the guys being disciplined and executing the game plan for a large part of
00:23the game.
00:25Unfortunately, as we could see, little fatigue started stepping down in the end.
00:29And they started a little uncomfortable in terms of managing the game at that point in time.
00:35But all in all, we are thankful and grateful for them in terms of the development.
00:40And they have a very bright future ahead of them.
00:43Coach Boyce pinpointed fatigue as an issue and expanded on the need for all the stakeholders to address the problem.
00:50We need to look into as well on the whole with clubs and even the players themselves.
01:00We need to improve in that area because, as you can see, how fit Mexico are at this international level.
01:11So we could get up there.
01:14The players cannot wait until they reach the national program to actually try for the national program to be able
01:22to bring them up to that standard.
01:24Clubs need to help us as well.
01:26Coaches need to help us as well.
01:28Parents need to help us as well in terms of everybody buying in and helping the kids in terms of
01:36strength and conditioning.
01:37In recent times, TNT have fallen just short of qualification at the youth level, in particular against the bigger nations
01:44in CONCACAF.
01:45And the coach admitted TNT are playing catch-up and laid out the plans to help reduce the gaps.
01:51Locally, the TTFA is now trying to extend the program in terms of youth development football to try to bring
02:01it back to a six-month program.
02:04Because before, it just used to be like three months after school and that kind of thing.
02:10But now, we're trying to get the football to start January, February, and finish in June so that you have
02:16a longer time for players to be able to train.
02:20So then when you check in, they will probably get approximately nine, ten months in terms of football development.
02:28If we do not have these lengthy programs in terms of development for the kids, then we'll always be falling
02:36short behind.
