00:00Hello, I'm Angela Scanlon and welcome to The Apprentice Unfinished Business.
00:04Now, before we get started, if you haven't watched episode 3 of The Apprentice,
00:08then head over to iPlayer to catch up and avoid a tonne load of spoilers.
00:13Coming up, I'll be having an exclusive chat with fired candidate Tan May.
00:17Lord Sugar will be sharing more of his business savvy.
00:20And Rick Edwards and Series 19 candidate Nadia Sullivan
00:23are here to discuss what the clock was going on in the latest task.
00:27This is The Apprentice Unfinished Business.
00:34First, can we welcome please Rick and Nadia.
00:37Hello.
00:38Hello.
00:38Very good, thanks.
00:39Good, good, good, good.
00:41How has it been since we last saw you?
00:42So exciting.
00:44So we're in the process of launching our first global store in Frankfurt.
00:48So the girl's going global, which is exciting.
00:50The girl is going global.
00:51We love to see her.
00:52And the product range, which has been brilliant.
00:54And then just keeping up with my personal life,
00:56refurbishing my house, social media, just the day in, day out stuff.
01:00Just having breakfast before you leave.
01:03The full rundown, I love it.
01:05What about you, Rick?
01:06Yeah, same for me, really.
01:08Just expanding my personal presence in Germany,
01:11which honestly at the moment is quite low.
01:14Okay, well, the only way is up.
01:16We like growth potential.
01:17That's what we're after here.
01:18Yes.
01:19You also brought a notebook.
01:20Yeah, well, I mean, I always watch TV with a notebook,
01:22but just in case.
01:25I would have done this differently.
01:27That is handy.
01:28It is really handy.
01:29And I'm sure we will get to how you may have done things.
01:31Okay, this week, the candidates were asked to turn poultry into profit.
01:35Okay, the teams had to decide on a dish to sell at the markets.
01:38They also had to pitch to corporate clients.
01:40And the gig was to make some money.
01:45Yeah, classic.
01:45Classic apprentice task, really.
01:48Classic, okay.
01:49Nadia, I hate to bring it up, but this was the task that you actually left on.
01:53Shall we have a little reminder of your time as PM?
01:57So, basically, we just want to stick probably about four or five scoops in there.
02:03Do you know what?
02:03Honestly, it's not that pedantic.
02:06Fit in, keep stirring.
02:09What is that?
02:10I don't know.
02:11It's supposed to be gravy, but I feel like we don't have enough liquid in it.
02:14Nadia, I'm going to put more water in this.
02:16It's like sludge.
02:17Yeah, so you just need to...
02:18Do you know how to make gravy?
02:19Do you actually know how to make gravy?
02:20You've just put that in.
02:21If not, then just tell me you don't know how to make it.
02:23Cool.
02:23I'll leave you to do it then, Nadia.
02:27Oh, poor kid.
02:29Poor kid.
02:30Poor kid.
02:30Poor kid.
02:31Poor kid.
02:32Poor kid.
02:35Poor kid.
02:36Just smash some water in there.
02:38Like, pour the whole part of gravy.
02:40I've never seen more granules go into a pan.
02:42Do you know what I mean?
02:43But when you're in that situation, it's kind of one of those things.
02:46You can't be, like, so, you know, particular about, like, how much ingredients are going in.
02:50You've got to get it in and get it done.
02:54But, yeah.
02:54How did that work out for you, babe?
02:56Well, not that good, really, did it?
02:58I mean, I did get fired on this one, so bloody useless.
03:01But, you know, at the end of the day, we tried our best.
03:05And it's always, like, a difficult scenario when you're in it.
03:07You know, you don't realise how hard and how tough it is.
03:10So you've kind of got to improvise and really make the best of a scenario.
03:14So, yeah.
03:15Are there any pointers that you might not have, you know, used yourself, but that you would advise candidates to
03:23use?
03:23Absolutely.
03:24Ultimately, you know, it's a profit and loss task.
03:27You've got to be in a position where you know how much things cost to actually make a profit or
03:30understand your profit.
03:32So I think what's really hard is that you get so wrapped up in the cost, you know, the flavour
03:38of things.
03:39And, like, the implementing of it as opposed to actually thinking about, I need to make money here and I
03:45need to be as efficient as possible.
03:47So, you know, it's a tough one.
03:49It's really hard.
03:50But, you know, you've just got to go for it.
03:52The key takeaway of that for me was that that was you being wrapped up in flavour.
03:56Remind me to never come to your house for dinner.
03:58Yeah, I mean, you know, there's me thinking flavour, profit, get it done.
04:04I don't really know what's going on, to be honest, at this point.
04:07I'm just like that.
04:08Yeah, let's just make the most of it.
04:10Oh, you look fabulous doing it.
04:12That's the main thing.
04:12Let's talk about PM Dan, who actually, to be fair, had a slightly similar approach.
04:18He was like whacking the chicken, whacking the mushrooms.
04:22Yeah, yeah.
04:22You know.
04:22It'll be fine.
04:23It's going in a pie.
04:24You're not going to see it.
04:25Which, at the time, I thought, oh, I don't know.
04:28But then when you saw the pies getting made, you're like, they look good.
04:30They're great.
04:31Yeah.
04:31Yeah.
04:32And I liked how, like, how did we feel Dan fared this week?
04:36I think he's probably the politest candidate we've ever had.
04:40Yeah.
04:40Just such a sweet, nice man who wants to make sure everyone's okay.
04:44And that kind of makes you think that he's not making any decisions.
04:49But actually, I think he did make some decisions and they proved to be quite good, sort of on the
04:54lowdown.
04:54I think he did a, yeah, I think he did a pretty good and polite job.
04:59Yeah.
04:59Yeah.
04:59Very polite, which is great.
05:01But he's calm.
05:02Different sort of approach to you.
05:03Yeah, absolutely.
05:04And me and Dan are, like, on the opposite sides.
05:06Like, Dan is the most chill-out guy.
05:08I'm not convinced you to get on.
05:09And I'm like, can we just get a decision?
05:11Like, right now.
05:12Let's talk team egg now.
05:14Project manager Carrington deployed a team with very strict dietary requirements into the kitchen.
05:20Let's remind ourselves.
05:23Okay, do you want to try this now, Priyash?
05:25Aiming to cook up the perfect carbonara.
05:27Yeah, but I need someone else to try.
05:29A team avoiding egg.
05:31Ugh.
05:31Cheese.
05:32Ugh.
05:33And pork.
05:34I like that taste, but it was actually really nice now.
05:39So, if you don't eat pork, you don't eat cheese, and you don't eat eggs, who's trying these recipes?
05:46Not all of us can try the dishes.
05:48I've tried the individual ingredients before they go.
05:52Have you tried the recipe?
05:53Oh, no, I wouldn't either.
05:53Have you tried the recipe?
05:54Likewise with Kieran, I have not.
05:56Okay.
05:57It's like my three-year-old at dinner.
06:00You liked this last night, but I don't like it anymore.
06:04You're fired.
06:06What was she thinking?
06:08Yeah.
06:09It was absolute chaos.
06:13And, you know, Baroness Brady chipped in a few times and was like, okay, you're all tasting things individually,
06:19but, you know, ultimately, it needs to be eaten in one bite.
06:24That's literally the point.
06:24It's sort of not how you try a cake, for example, is it?
06:26The flour's good.
06:28The raw egg is good.
06:29Sugar's nice.
06:30I guess this Victoria sponge is going to be...
06:35Team Egg also struggled to work out the cost price, despite Priesh having a maths degree,
06:42which is a little exposing, I would say.
06:44Although the maths did get the better of you as well, Nadia, and your team.
06:48The maths situation is a struggle because, you know, ultimately, no matter how good you are at maths,
06:53there's so many people jumping in and you're just thinking, hang on a second, like, so what numbers did you
06:59get?
06:59Well, what numbers did you get?
07:00And everybody's so scared to accept responsibility for the ultimate number.
07:04So they're all a bit like, oh, let's lean on the project manager again and let's do it.
07:08And it's just really scary.
07:10And then you do think to yourself, hang on, like, even the fact that Priesh has a maths degree...
07:14But no calculator.
07:15...you would have just thought, you know, without a calculator, we rely so much on our phones,
07:20calculators every single day, right?
07:22No, I'm not having it.
07:24I'm not having it.
07:25Rick Edwards has a maths degree from Cambridge.
07:27He's got a maths degree from Cambridge.
07:29He needed you on the team.
07:30Come on.
07:30Look, if it's me, I'm just like, everyone else, shut up.
07:33I will do it and then I will tell you what the number is.
07:36Exactly.
07:36Done.
07:37Yeah, because it's not...
07:38Because it's genuinely not hard.
07:40OK.
07:40You'll listen to it.
07:41It's not hard.
07:42But is it not...
07:42Oh, it's so...
07:43No, it's not.
07:44They're really straightforward numbers.
07:46I'm screaming at the table.
07:50It's infuriating.
07:51It is, for somebody who has studied math.
07:53Oh.
07:54I mean, for anyone with just basic numeracy.
07:57Rude.
07:58Yeah, sorry.
08:00But it's...
08:01Oh, it gets me every time.
08:03It is tricky, though, because I do think...
08:04No, it's not.
08:06To your point, everybody...
08:08Nobody really wants to, like, pin their flag to the maths.
08:11No one's...
08:11They don't want to do that.
08:12Because if you said, shut up, everybody, I'm doing the maths,
08:14then if those maths are wrong, you are...
08:16That is the sword you're going to die.
08:18And they're not going to be wrong, Angela.
08:19That's fair.
08:20So we're OK.
08:21Well, OK.
08:22Let's talk negotiations, OK?
08:24Team Egg secured a price of just $11.80 per head
08:29with the corporate client.
08:32Who do you think was the main culprit in the negotiations?
08:35I think we agree on this, don't we?
08:37Megan.
08:37Megan.
08:38Honestly.
08:38It's got to be Megan.
08:40Like, you know how you are with the maths?
08:41Yeah.
08:42I am exactly like that with the negotiation.
08:44I am...
08:45Let's see.
08:45...and was absolutely furious.
08:47I was like, Karishma, bless her.
08:49Like, she did such a good job.
08:51She opened extreme.
08:52She was at the £27.
08:53And then all of a sudden, Megan just comes in with this £11.80.
08:57And I was like, no.
08:59I would have, you know, really been so upset.
09:01And I could really feel her pain, Karishma.
09:03I just thought, no, this is not good.
09:05And at that point, you can't really go back.
09:07Once you've gone that far down, you can't get them back up, right?
09:10So you're just stuck.
09:11And Lord Sugar revealed later that they had budgeted 20 quid.
09:14So they were so far off the mark.
09:16And it was interesting to see Karishma,
09:18because she was so annoyed by the whole thing.
09:21Rightly.
09:22Rightly.
09:22Absolutely.
09:23And kind of, like, negotiating for dummies almost.
09:26She was like, you start high, they start low,
09:29we meet in the middle.
09:30That's literally basic.
09:31We start high, they start low, we immediately go low.
09:34Yeah.
09:35And it's done.
09:37Yeah, let's go make those cures, gang.
09:39She didn't mince her words either.
09:41No.
09:41Which I think is, we're seeing more of that come out from her.
09:46And also, she's like, if I was Lord Sugar, I would fire them both now.
09:50Yeah.
09:50Yeah.
09:51I mean, I think they may be lucky to not both have been fired.
09:55Although, actually, until Lord Sugar said,
09:58oh, you should have just come in after Meghan had said £12
10:01and just gone back up.
10:02Yeah.
10:03I had thought, I don't know how you'd do that.
10:05It's done by then.
10:05It's pretty difficult, isn't it?
10:07We're just going to take her out.
10:08Yeah.
10:08Let's start again.
10:09Yeah, yeah, yeah.
10:10Or make out like, well, that's a very funny joke.
10:13You know, can we just go back in the negotiation?
10:16You know.
10:17Are there pitfalls to negotiating for you that you're like,
10:21oh, no, this is game over?
10:23Yeah.
10:24I mean, you've got to learn when to walk away as well with negotiation.
10:27It's all about being comfortable with being uncomfortable.
10:30He who speaks first always loses in negotiation.
10:34But, I mean, what an awkward moment if everybody knows that rule.
10:38I mean, it is.
10:39It's about being comfortable with being uncomfortable.
10:41You have to sit there and go, who's going to break first?
10:43It's quite funny to tell you, though.
10:44It's this.
10:45Just loads of people not saying anything.
10:47Just looking at each other.
10:47I can see the hair off.
10:49It is quite scary.
10:50But, you know, you learn it, you know, based on your environment.
10:54You kind of sit there and just go dead silent.
10:55So it's 28 quid.
10:59Oh, Natia.
11:01Yeah, it's 28 quid.
11:03I'll come in.
11:04It will work on me.
11:05Make it end.
11:07I'll give you 30.
11:08I've done that.
11:09They can always say no.
11:11Yeah.
11:12And go back to the drawing board and say, well, actually, no.
11:15They can always escort you out of the building.
11:17I'll escort you out of the building.
11:19And Lord Sugar would love that.
11:20So you sold none.
11:23Well, speaking of Lord Sugar, we've been exchanging voice memos.
11:27I mean, I feel like we're, you know, we're VFX now.
11:30Have you two got a vibe now?
11:31We've got a vibe.
11:32We're getting matching tattoos at the end of the series.
11:35He sent this voice memo, his feedback, his general, you know, feelings on this week's task.
11:44Angela, the task is a balancing act.
11:49Cost price versus sales price is key.
11:53If you spend too much on ingredients, then your profit margins are too low.
11:58But if you spend too little, then customers aren't getting value for money.
12:03But I've got to say, the teams weren't a total abomination this week.
12:08Yes, throwing money at the meatiest cabanera you've ever eaten was risky.
12:14But Lawrence and Kieran played an absolute peaky blinder when it came to sales.
12:20And Dan ran his team so calmly, they were late to the blooming market.
12:26But his team won and he made it look as easy as pie.
12:30You could say I'm the tiniest bit impressed.
12:35Oh.
12:37Wow.
12:38I know.
12:39Lord Sugar, mega impressed with the sales technique shown by Lawrence and Kieran.
12:45They sold in the first 15 minutes, four portions of cabanera for 95 quid.
12:52You cannot argue with that.
12:54I mean, 95 quid.
12:56And their energy was just so high.
12:58I was actually quite shocked they didn't win that.
13:00Yeah.
13:00I was quite shocked.
13:01It was very close.
13:02But I did feel from the sales standpoint, they did really well.
13:06They worked as part of the team.
13:07They were getting tips and they were getting all of this.
13:09So it was good.
13:10I mean, 50p tips, that's not going to move the dial.
13:12They should have been like, you know.
13:13No.
13:13No.
13:14But I wonder, I don't know if this is being harsh.
13:17It didn't really get mentioned.
13:18But Kieran's idea of putting more meat in the carbonara will have made it a lot more expensive.
13:24And I don't think it would have made any difference to their sales at all.
13:27You could have said meat is carbonara and it not be.
13:30Yeah.
13:30No one cares.
13:31Like every shop in the world says best coffee.
13:33Yeah.
13:33All right.
13:34Yeah.
13:34Probably not.
13:35But it's fine.
13:35It's so true.
13:37Also, they're there for the pasta.
13:39Like, you know, you want a meat dish, get a steak and gravy pie or something.
13:43Yeah.
13:44Yes, exactly.
13:45That guy.
13:46Yeah.
13:46Because pancetta is bloody expensive.
13:48Yeah.
13:49I mean.
13:49Yeah.
13:50I don't think they should have gone with the extra pancetta.
13:52No, I don't think so either.
13:53Honestly, the egg costume, however.
13:55Yeah.
13:56Or was it a chicken?
13:57What was it?
13:58Well, it was both.
13:58There was one egg and one chicken.
13:59Harry was a chicken.
14:00Yeah.
14:00Oh, yeah.
14:01Yeah.
14:02That's right.
14:02The egg one was fairly clearly an egg, I would say.
14:06I don't know what chickens you've been looking at.
14:08I love how Lord Sugar was like, I can see your nuggets.
14:12Yeah.
14:13Sorry, that's not Harry.
14:16It is time now to talk to our fired candidate.
14:19He shook on a bad deal and was left with egg on his face, wasn't he?
14:23The poor fella.
14:23Well, let's remind ourselves of the moment that he said goodbye in the boardroom.
14:28But actually, I've decided that the real culprit in this particular one is somebody who has interfered in negotiations.
14:38And so it is with regret.
14:41Tanmay, you're fired.
14:42Thank you for the opportunity, Lord.
14:50Thank you for having me.
14:51Tanmay, welcome to Unfinished Business.
14:53Thank you for having me.
14:55Very lovely to have you here.
14:57Now, have you enjoyed being part of the process?
15:00I feel like we said goodbye to you, maybe a little too early, but it was the 20th anniversary.
15:05You got to go to Hong Kong.
15:06It was quite an epic one to be part of.
15:08Absolutely.
15:09Yeah.
15:10Once in a lifetime, you know, I really enjoyed it.
15:12Obviously gutted to be gone a bit earlier than I hoped, but, you know, enjoyed it for what it was.
15:17Well, we kind of thought this was a shoo-in for you because your friends call you...
15:23The Egg and Crest King is the nickname I've managed to...
15:26And you were on Team Egg, so it was kind of written in the stars.
15:32Yes.
15:32So, I mean, I turned vegetarian five years ago.
15:34Okay.
15:35And I just started a new job.
15:36So I was eating a lot of meal deals and they happened to be Egg and Crest.
15:40That's all you can really get for a veggie.
15:42Yeah.
15:42So then my housemate at the time renamed me in her phone Egg and Crest King.
15:47Okay.
15:48Because all I seemed to eat was eggs and, you know, omelettes and things like that.
15:51Okay.
15:52So I thought, you know, chicken v. egg, game on.
15:54Let's go.
15:55You're in.
15:56Are you still eating eggs or have we...
15:58I still eat my first share of eggs.
15:59Are they triggering for you now?
16:00But yes, exactly.
16:02So, I mean, any canapes I'm having to steer clear of.
16:05Oh, let's not talk about that.
16:07But tell me why you didn't put yourself forward for PM on this task.
16:15Egg and Crest King.
16:17Egg and Crest King.
16:18What happened?
16:19You know, I love my eggs, but I think, I don't think I'm amazing in the kitchen.
16:23I can hold my own.
16:24I mean, that didn't stop any of the rest of them.
16:26No, you're right.
16:28But no, I thought there was, Karen was showing a bit of confidence and I thought I'll let her take
16:33it on.
16:33I'm also a vegetarian.
16:34So I think a few of the dishes we were going to make, we're going to have a meeting.
16:36So I was like, I might be okay on the course.
16:39Heaven forbid you have people in there who can't eat the food.
16:41Right?
16:43I thought the team split might have been done a bit better than that.
16:47And let's talk about the infamous 1180 deal.
16:52So I think, I think there was a few things that hindered us.
16:55I think we went in with a range and then when Megan mentioned £12, it felt to me like we'd
17:01set a price ceiling.
17:01And I think it would have been unprofessional to then say, I know actually we want to be back near
17:06the £20 mark.
17:08But in my view, negotiation is a game, right?
17:13It's this interplay between people.
17:14And I think it comes down to emotional intelligence and perception and picking up on subtle cues and adjusting in
17:20the moment.
17:21But in our case, when Karishma started the negotiation with a monologue, it almost puts a, it sets the tempo
17:29of that game in quite a frantic manner.
17:33So it was then hard to regain control of the negotiation.
17:37There was quite a few of us jumping in and yeah, I think we failed to understand exactly what the
17:43corporate client needed.
17:44And the fact they ultimately asked for a partial refund, even on £11.80 would suggest that even they couldn't
17:50justify that price.
17:51So going higher, they may well have asked for, asked for more money off.
17:55So you feel had Karishma held back and allowed for you to have a more open dialogue, you would have
18:02understood what they needed, been able to reflect them back and then maybe stay at that price?
18:07Yeah, I think.
18:08It's like £11.90 or something.
18:10£11.95.
18:12Yeah, I think, I think negotiation is all about know your customer, understand what they want first so you can
18:16empathise with them and actually deliver what they need.
18:18But I don't think we did that.
18:20And then it became just a numbers game flying around, price ceiling came in and ultimately I was trying to
18:26save an extra £80p because they said £11.
18:29I thought Megan was going to shake on £11.
18:31I mean, I think they just said £11 because they were like, I'm pretty sure she just said £12.
18:36Like we may as well rinse this.
18:38I think they were as shocked as, as you were.
18:41Yeah, I agree.
18:43I think on the balance rate, we sold four canapes for nearly £12 and the other team did six for
18:50£20-ish.
18:51I think our unit cost for canapes is actually not that different.
18:53Bearing in mind we're selling eggs and they're selling chickens.
18:55Yeah, fair.
18:57So yeah.
18:58So you're happy with how that went?
19:00I can't say I'm happy, I'm sat here.
19:03Okay.
19:03Okay.
19:04So how do you feel about Carrington's decision to bring you and Megan back into the boardroom?
19:08I think I can see, I can see maybe some of the reasoning.
19:11I can see why Megan was brought back because she was the one who set the ceiling.
19:14But equally, there's, I don't know what Andrew did in this task, apart from trying to peel some boiled eggs.
19:20And then she was generally a little bit negative on, a little bit negative on, on just during the negotiation
19:27thing.
19:27So she, she didn't really do a huge amount.
19:29She loved Big Ben.
19:30She loved Big Ben.
19:33Don't mock the tourists, Rick.
19:35I love Big Ben.
19:36Happiest of seeing her by a mile.
19:38Yeah.
19:39So you think she dodged a bullet?
19:42Yes, I think so.
19:43I think no one, she, she managed to stay out the limelight and therefore probably got away with one.
19:47Okay.
19:47But I don't think there was enough, there's not been enough spotlight on the PM team.
19:52They set out to sell 80 meals.
19:55They bought ingredients for 80 meals.
19:57They ended up selling 40 and they had a good day selling, but half of, half of what they planned
20:02out to sell, they didn't sell.
20:03If they sold 15, 20 more meals, we actually would have won the task.
20:06Yeah.
20:07Do you think the right person was fired?
20:11No, I'm, no, I'm getting rid of Megan.
20:13No, we both discussed this, didn't we?
20:15And we feel that both of you were the right people to come back, the candidates to come back.
20:20But we did feel that Megan really did mess up twice, right?
20:23We felt like the negotiation down to 1180 was just not right.
20:27And then, you know, leaving Krishna in the kitchen, kind of manage everything while she was out.
20:32Having a nice time.
20:33Having a nice time, you know, enjoying life.
20:35Vibing.
20:35Like, hello, how are you?
20:37I'm here to entertain you.
20:38And it's like, actually, the kitchen's falling apart.
20:41Do you want to come back and help me?
20:42So I do feel like it was a real close call.
20:45And I think you should have stayed.
20:46Yeah.
20:47You know, I think you did get unlucky this week.
20:50I think, I think in the kitchen, when we are serving to the corporate clients, we've already got the price
20:53agreed.
20:54And at that point, myself and Megan were both serving.
20:56And we were thinking, let's just try and put on some really good service.
20:59We may be able to scrounge a tip at the end.
21:02Didn't work out.
21:03They asked for a refund anyway.
21:04But I appreciate you saying that.
21:06You are the, you're an iconic negotiator from last season.
21:09But I know how hard it is.
21:11And look, you know, like, negotiation, you can bring emotion into it so much.
21:16And it's so difficult to, you know, you're looking at the client's face.
21:19You don't want to offend them.
21:21You want to kind of keep a stern face.
21:22And we've talked so much about negotiation.
21:24And it is tough because you've got to be comfortable with being uncomfortable.
21:27And that's a hard one.
21:29Agreed.
21:30Away from the chaos of the task and the pressure of the boardroom, back in the house, what's it like?
21:38It's great.
21:39You know, it's quite absurd in a way.
21:41You've got these 19 other people who you've just met and you're doing these crazy tasks.
21:48So you sort of buy into this craziness.
21:52But at the same time, like probably some of the highest moments I've ever had.
21:55In between the tasks where you're on your down day, you know you're through to the next week.
21:59And you have no phone.
22:01And you can just disconnect from life.
22:03You know you're being looked after.
22:05And you can sit with the book in the sun and in this beautiful mansion.
22:09And I don't think I've had, honestly, some of my highest moments in between those tasks.
22:14In between the tasks.
22:17On our days off, we had a great time.
22:20Yeah, I read my book.
22:22Just a bit of peace.
22:24Holiday, it sounds fabulous.
22:25It does feel like we're getting a bit more of an insight into the house this series, which I absolutely
22:30love.
22:31Well, the wake-up for this week was so funny.
22:37Like, Priyash apparently was like sleeping half on the floor.
22:41Kieran's hair was like, what the fuck?
22:44It looked like an animal.
22:47I feel like he might take quite a bit of time in there.
22:49Yeah, yeah, yeah.
22:50Yeah, I mean, I don't know how that people are getting ready in 20 minutes, genuinely.
22:53Yeah, there was one roller in, and I just remember last year going, I am literally sleeping with my make
22:59-up on, one eye open, because if this camera comes to my face, I want to look stunning.
23:05I'm not having it.
23:06I am not going to be that person with one short up there, a roller sticking up my head going.
23:11So what, you're like Mariah Carey in full glam?
23:14I was up, the lashes were on, I was like, good morning, I'm ready for you.
23:19I was just sleeping like a corpse.
23:21I was literally like, boom, is it that time, yeah?
23:23Is it that time, yeah?
23:26Obsessed, obsessed.
23:27Oh, honestly.
23:28Nadia, you've been in Tad May's position before.
23:30From a business standpoint, is there anything that you learnt from doing this series that you think, you know, that
23:37you've applied to your own business that can kind of, you know, give a bit of hope, I suppose?
23:41I'd say, yeah, I think, you know, just communication is key, learning the negotiation, learning when to walk away as
23:48well, because, you know, there's no point in closing a deal if you're going to lose money.
23:53You don't want to lose money.
23:54You have sometimes got to turn around and go, actually, that just doesn't work for me, I'm going to take
23:58that away.
23:58And, you know, I've just launched a product range, and it's been so tough during the manufacturing and the negotiating
24:04side.
24:05And there's times where I just think, well, if that's not going to work, I actually have to say no.
24:09Is it gravy?
24:10It's not gravy that you're making.
24:11Not gravy.
24:12Not on this occasion.
24:13Bisto will definitely not be hiring me, that's for sure.
24:17I could tell you that now.
24:18Lumpy gravy all the way.
24:20Coagulated.
24:20And being Welsh, you would think that I would master the gravy, right?
24:24Chips, cheese and gravy.
24:25I didn't want to say.
24:26We love this, right?
24:27I didn't want to say.
24:28You let the side down, Nadia.
24:29I definitely have.
24:30Okay.
24:31It is that time of the show where I get out my metaphorical boombox, I know, still think,
24:35as my guests choose a song that they think best sums up the task.
24:41Nadia, what have you gone for?
24:42Oh, so I'm going to play this one because this relates to the maths for sure.
24:54What a tune as well.
24:55It's a good tune.
24:56It's endured.
24:57It's what I go to school for.
25:00Very nice.
25:01Very nice.
25:02A few, a bit of tutoring.
25:05Tutoring.
25:06I mean, who am I to call on the maths when I actually got the maths wrong, right?
25:11I know.
25:11But, you know, can't be perfect at everything, can we?
25:13Exactly.
25:14Hindsight, 20-20, all that malarkey.
25:16Rick?
25:17I am going for this in honour of Megan coming into that negotiation like a...
25:26I came in like a...
25:29Love it.
25:30Don't really need to explain that.
25:31Love it.
25:32Love it.
25:32This is all going well.
25:34Bang!
25:39Oh, she really did get away with murder, didn't she?
25:43I think so.
25:44Okay.
25:45I think that we've all had our fill of poultry for one series, haven't we?
25:48So let's look ahead to next week's task, okay?
25:51The teams will be creating, these are my favourites,
25:54a campaign for a brand new bottle of H2O, which is telly for water.
26:00This is the moment Team Alpha are attempting to manage expectations for their ad.
26:06I want you to be aware that we didn't even have a chance to do a full run-through.
26:10Like, we literally had one to the last second.
26:13What do you mean by a full run-through, so you've not seen it from start to finish?
26:16We haven't been able to see it from start to finish,
26:18but we did watch bits and bobs as it was getting car-cadded together, yeah.
26:22Did the ad make sense?
26:23There might be a few things that might, like, be pointed out,
26:26not being 100% cohesive, but we obviously really did try it.
26:35What do you think Lord Sugar is looking to test in terms of skills from the candidates in a task
26:40like that?
26:41Well, he's looking to create an advert that essentially delivers a message, right?
26:45It is so hard to monetise marketing, to monetise an advertising board.
26:50You know, you need to understand what your return on investment.
26:52Are people actually buying the water because you have an advert?
26:56How can you convert an advert into customers?
26:59And that's really important.
27:00So I really hope that they're going to deliver the message clear and concise.
27:03They're going to get the right target market.
27:05They're going to understand the demograph of who they're trying to sell it to
27:08and actually put all of the key points on there to demonstrate that this is a bottle of water that
27:14needs to be sold.
27:15Can I guess that they definitely won't do any of that?
27:18Absolutely.
27:18I mean, let's be honest.
27:19It might not even be a picture of water on there.
27:21How do you know?
27:22Brilliant, well, Les, and that is it.
27:24For another episode of Unfinished Business.
